SAMR Soundbyte

Season 2, Episode 1 kicks off from the Middle School, where we discuss what's happening at Braves Engage 3.0, additional uses for Canvas and how we can use Canvas in Kindergarten.  This is a quicker episode than normal, but a good start for Season 2.

The SAMR Soundbyte gang talks about Ryne and Jeff's trip to ISTE in Philadelphia, non-traditional sports and their purpose, Ryne talks about the iPad Camera App, and we get into a in-depth discussion about an article regarding ScreenTime Mark sent to us earlier in the week. For some reason, Van's microphone decided not to record, but you can somewhat hear him through other microphones. The group is joined by guest host Jeff Fastnacht and discusses how to build urgency in schools and talks about electives/recess in school. The "I have a question segment" goes to guest host Fastnacht with the following question, "What would you do with a enormous budget for K12 schools?"

The group hears from Perry about the "Summer of SAMR" and talks through student engagement at all levels. They also discuss if schools are are too focused about minutes for the core curriculum while forgetting some of the other items. Jeff brings the question to the "I'd like to pose a question" segment. The SAMR group discusses how IGNITE 2025 looks in the Elementary levels through different items shown during our grade level meetings. They also discuss things for Elementary teachers to know in Canvas. Julie sort-of brings the "I've got a question" to the table and the whole episode is mixed with juvenile humor and ends with Cameos from Perry's phone.

We take a look at what SAMR means to use and how we see it used in our schools. We discuss Mastery Paths in Canvas and their potential to help in our school district. Ryne brings the question to the "I've got a question" segment.

The group discusses the origins of the SAMR Soundbyte and how it came to be. Van and Jeff talk about the Innovation Academy and how it's started to change our thinking. The group discusses the "Why" we selected Canvas as the districts Learning Management System and Van brings today's question to the table.
