On Theater 10, three film students - Owen Larkin, Matt Pifko, and Kenny Cox - look at whatever movies opened in wide release exactly 10 years ago. Together, they will take a look at how they hold up, their personal relationships to them at the time, and discover non-existent movies that Hollywood somehow pushed into 600 theaters.
It's the summer of aliens invading I guess, whether that be Olivia Wilde in a baffling sci-fi western or those little blue guys in the Big Apple. Also on this episode, we love Emma Stone once again! (and Ryan Gosling, Owen is writing this)
What if there were friends with benefits?
Surprise! We're back with the at the time highest-grossing opening weekend of all-time Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, and also 2011's Winnie the Pooh that nobody remembers but is actually kinda charming!
Yo-ho, yo-ho. Unfortunately, it's a pirate's life for us this week, as we talk about what is somehow the most expensive film ever made, Rob Marshall's fourth installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise - On Stranger Tides. Special guest Will Canalizo joins!
Special guest Vern Hass joins to talk all things about 2011's surprise hit of the summer Bridesmaids, including the state of studio comedy, loving MacGruber, and his crusade against Barb and Star and their recent vacation in Vista del Mar. Also discussed is Priest, a Scott Stewart directed film produced by Screen Gems where Paul Bettany plays a religious savior who has to fight down bizarre supernatural threats in a western setting. No, we are not talking about Legion (2010), there are two of these. What rides do you want to see at Screen Gems Land?? Tweet at us @Theater10Pod !!
Something Borrowed broke us.
Start your engines folks. Special guest Tiffany Carbon joins to talk all things both fast and furious, a 'five-quadrant' picture. In addition, the groups discuss the 2011 Disney film Prom but also the concept of prom in general. Also, an inspired conversation about Hoodwinked Too (Two?) and fast food movie tie-in toys. And if that wasn't enough, Dylan Dog: Dead of Night. Sure!
In this episode, Matt and Owen are joined by Steve Hassett, who was asked to be on the show all but an hour before recording, to talk about three movies none of them really care about all too much. In the process, the boys discuss how little Tyler Perry makes sense, the breakout stars of Twilight trying to find success in their own leading projects, Disneynature narrators, the 2005 rom-com Must Love Dogs, Matt Pifko's computer dying, and the best original song category at the Academy Awards.
Special guest and horror expert Kyle Woolery joins Owen, Kenny, and Matt to gush about all things involving the Scream franchise - the openings, Hayden Panettiere, Scary Movie, the Emma Roberts career arc, why we miss Wes Craven, predictions for 5cream - all of it. Together, they also discuss the demise of Blue Sky Studios and Jesse Eisenberg wandering in his driveway celebrating the anniversary of Rio. And yes, I know, you may be wondering what The Conspirator is. Apparently it's a real movie (directed by Robert Redford no less), and we watched it! Does anyone know where Johnny Simmons is??
For the first time, the boys attempt to talk about four movies in one episode, and lose their minds in the process! Special guest and unintentional Letterboxd royalty Willa Shiomos joins!
On this episode, Owen, Kenny, and Matt celebrate April Fools Day by becoming the fools themselves, attempting to stimulate a conversation around the 2011 film Hop. In addition, the boys question Michelle Monaghan's Dunkin order in Source Code, and fawn over how much they love the cast of Insidious. The bunny poops jelly beans! What more do you need! In their inaugural episode, Kenny, Owen, and Matt take a look back at the weekend of March 25, 2011. First, the boys celebrate the 10th anniversary of one of the best films ever made - a psychological mindbender that obliterates all prior expectations of a coming-of-age fantasy, struggling with themes of unexpected adolescence, forming new relationships in unlikely situations, and defeating a tyrannical threat. The boys also talk about Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch.
