“No plan. Just bigger guns.”In what happens to be a rather bizarre follow-up to last year's episode on Cemetery Man, the boys tackle this big screen adaptation of Tiziano Sclavi's perhaps better-known work (in Europe, anyway), Dylan Dog! (When our fans ask for an episode, we try to deliver!) We talk about the absence of fan-favorite character Groucho, compare this film to Brett's beloved Dresden Files book series, and desperately try to remember the names of people and movies completely unrelated to this film! The Spin Chagrin, a concept that finds Frank having to watch a movie he's never seen before based on the random spin of a wheel filled with off-the-wall genres, continues into a new year. In this episode, Frank's category was a throwback to last year with "Dog as the Main Character Redux." This year though, Frank is wiser bent the rules and chose the horror/comedy/action Dylan Dog: Dead of Night, starring Brandon Routh as a paranormal detective.

We've unearthed a movie we've attempted to cover multiple times: the 2011 undead noir Dylan Dog: Dead of Night, adapted from the hit Italian comic book and starring erstwhile Superman Brandon Routh. Join in as we discuss hyper-specific weapons, magnets, zombie fluids, spare mausoleums, and guest behavior we simply cannot believe. Plus: How does Dylan decide which old technology to use? When no sequel materialized for 2006's SUPERMAN RETURNS (a tale to be told in a future episode of this show), it might have seemed like star Brandon Routh's dreams of headlining his own comic book movie franchise were over. But the up-and-coming leading man would get a second chance in 2011...and THEN his dreams of headlining a comic book movie franchise seemed more or less over. So, what happened? In this episode, we take a look at the pitfalls of adapting a popular Italian action-horror comic series for an international audience largely unfamiliar with the character, especially when adding in a modest budget, first-time live-action director, and a collection of well-trodden genre cliches, with 2011's DYLAN DOG: DEAD OF NIGHT.
