Chicago, Illinois artist Mr. Cam Collins is a winner in the L. Ron Hubbard Illustrators of the Future Contest earning him a trip to Hollywood for a week-long master-class workshop, an awards event and his winning art will be published in the international bestselling anthology, L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume 41. Cam Collins was born in 1999 in the city of Chicago, being raised by his parents whose first actions of fostering his creativity were by having a chalkboard wall in his room. The creative pursuits continued, and Collins knew early on that he'd want to draw for the rest of his life. He was one of the first few members to be selected for the College Arts Access Program (CAAP) of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago through high school, and went on to study Printmaking at the Rhode Island School of Design. He gained a love for creating books, and realized a key ingredient to bring his illustrations further was to start writing stories in tandem with his illustrations. Collins continues to do commissions for a variety of clients, and has brought his art and storytelling into his own world called "Way of the Canvas". He will be working on this world for as long as he can draw, and has created comics, videos, and even games devoted to it. The Illustrators of the Future Contest judges include, Bob Eggleton (11 Chesley Awards and 7 Hugo Awards), Larry Elmore (Dungeons & Dragons book covers), Echo Chernik (graphic designs for major corporations including Celestial Seasonings tea packaging), Rob Prior (art for Spawn, Heavy Metal comics and Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Ciruelo (Eragon Coloring Book). The Writers of the Future Contest judges include, Tim Powers (author of On Stranger Tides), Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert (Dune prequel series), Robert J. Sawyer (The Oppenheimer Alternative), Brandon Sanderson (Mistborn series, The Stormlight Archive), Larry Niven (Ringworld), Orson Scott Card (Ender's Game), Nnedi Okorafor (Who Fears Death), Hugh Howey (Wool), and Katherine Kurtz (Deryni series) to name a few. Following the 1982 release of his internationally acclaimed bestselling science fiction novel, Battlefield Earth, written in celebration of 50 years as a professional writer, L. Ron Hubbard created the Writers of the Future (writersofthefuture.com) in 1983 to provide a means for aspiring writers of speculative fiction to get that much-needed break. Due to the success of the Writers of the Future Contest, the companion Illustrators of the Future Contest was inaugurated five years later. The Writers of the Future Award is the genre's most prestigious award of its kind and has now become the largest, most successful, and demonstrably most influential vehicle for budding creative talent in the world of speculative fiction. Since its inception, the Writers and Illustrators of the Future contests have produced 39 anthology volumes (with this event) and awarded upwards of $1 million in cash prizes and royalties. T.R. Naus emerged from a love of exploration. He grew up traveling across Europe, Asia, and the United States as a military brat and a soldier in the US Army, developing a passion for wandering, adventures, and intriguing stories. His journey led him to experience fascinating cultures and subcultures, where he learned from inspiring people, but with each new encounter, he wondered how evolving technology impacts how we see ourselves and the communities around us. He eventually settled in Virginia with his wife and two daughters and turned to speculative fiction to express those anxieties-and hopes-about our future. The Writers of the Future Contest judges include Tim Powers (author of On Stranger Tides), Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert (Dune prequel series), Robert J. Sawyer (The Oppenheimer Alternative), Brandon Sanderson (Mistborn series, The Stormlight Archive), Larry Niven (Ringworld), Orson Scott Card (Ender's Game), Nnedi Okorafor (Who Fears Death), Hugh Howey

Tim Powers was born in Buffalo, New York, on Leap Year Day in 1952, but has lived in southern California since 1959. He graduated from California State University at Fullerton with a BA in English in 1976; the same year saw the publication of his first two novels, The Skies Discrowned and Epitaph in Rust. Tim's subsequent novels are The Drawing of the Dark, The Anubis Gates (winner of the Philip K. Dick Memorial Award and the Prix Apollo), Dinner at Deviant's Palace (winner of the Philip K. Dick Memorial Award), On Stranger Tides (the novel the movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, was based on) The Stress of Her Regard, Last Call (winner of the World Fantasy Award), Expiration Date, Earthquake Weather, Declare (winner of the World Fantasy Award) and Three Days to Never. His most recent book is Hide Me Among the Graves. The Manchester Guardian called Powers “the best fantasy writer to appear in decades.” Tim has taught at the Clarion Science Fiction Writers' Workshop at Michigan State University six times and currently teaches the annual Writers of the Future workshop. He has been involved with the Contest since its early years, serving as one of the instructors (along with Algis Budrys and Orson Scott Card) at the very first official WotF workshop in Sag Harbor. He was formally inducted as a judge in 1993. Powers lives with his wife, Serena, in San Bernardino, California. “I think I've been a judge for most of the quarters in the past two decades. This means that several times a year I get a stack of manuscript photocopies via next-day mail, and take a day off from my own writing to read them all and evaluate them; this is no chore, since Dave Wolverton or K.D. Wentworth has already culled them from the total volume of submissions, and invariably there is at least one story that I'm grateful to have a chance to read. I send my verdicts in, and usually I hang on to a couple of the photocopies, just because I want to have the chance to read them again before the actual anthology is published. The stories at this point have no provenance beyond their titles—I don't know the genders or ages or addresses of the writers; and not all of them turn out to live in North America, by any means. The only thing I can be fairly sure of is that I have not read anything by any of these writers before. (Over the years, I have read a lot of subsequent books from many of them, with their names right there on the spines and their photos on the dust jacket flap—though since I'm not a very up-to-date reader, I generally don't get around to reading them until they've been nominated for Hugos or Nebulas or World Fantasy Awards.)” — Tim Powers Considered one of the most prolific writers working in modern fiction, New York Times and USA Today bestselling writer, Dean Wesley Smith published over two hundred novels and over seven hundred books in fifty years, and hundreds and hundreds of short stories. He has over thirty million copies of his books in printAt the moment he produces novels in four major series, including the time travel Thunder Mountain novels set in the old west, the galaxy-spanning Seeders Universe series, the cold case mystery series, Cold Poker Gang series, and the superhero series starring Poker Boy. During his career, Dean also wrote a couple dozen Star Trek novels, the only two original Men in Black novels, Spider-Man and X-Men novels, plus novels set in gaming and television worlds. Writing with his wife Kristine Kathryn Rusch under the name Kathryn Wesley, they wrote the novel for the NBC miniseries The Tenth Kingdom and other books for “I think this Contest has done more to help new writers achieve their dreams than anything that has come before. I know it gave me a huge push. It's wonderful to return to be a part of it again as a judge.” —Dean Wesley Smith Find out more at: deanwesleysmith.com

The Secret of Monkey Island, one of the best loved video games of the point-and-click era, was released on the 15th October, 1990, without, it must be said, a great deal of fanfare. Inspired by the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland and the novel On Stranger Tides by Tim Powers, the game was a swashbuckling piratical adventure which – unusually for gaming of the time – put laughs above thrills. Despite its initially mixed reaction, it went on to become a sleeper hit that a generation of gamers took to their hearts. In this episode, Arion, Rebecca and Olly investigate why George Lucas wasn't putting his new video games division to work publishing loads of Star Wars games; explain why it was important to Monkey Island's creators that their main character couldn't die; and find out whether the jokes Olly found hilarious as a ten-year-old are still as side-splittingly funny today… Further Reading: • ‘The Complete History Of Monkey Island' (Time Extension, 2022): https://www.timeextension.com/features/the-complete-history-of-monkey-island • ‘What Is The Secret Of Monkey Island?' Her story, "Moonlight and Funk," is illustrated by April Solomon of Laguna Beach, California who is herself a winner of the Illustrators of the Future Contest. The story and illustration along with the other writers' and illustrators' stories and art are published in the international bestselling anthology, L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume 39 which was officially released on May 16th. Marianne Xenos is a writer and visual artist living in western Massachusetts. She works with mixed-media, photography, and fiction. She's a member of an artist-run gallery and creates artwork with a strong sense of fantasy and narrative. Although she's been writing since she first learned to read, Marianne only began sending out her stories for publication in the past year and a half. Marianne grew up in a blue-collar family outside of Boston. Her childhood was full of immigrants, builders, and working-class heroes-people who inspire the characters in her stories. In 2021, Marianne published her first short story, and was a finalist for Writers of the Future. The current winning submission which will be published in L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume 38. The awards event at the Taglyan Complex on April 8th was a black-tie gala honoring all the writer and illustrator winners as well as announcing the grand prize writer and illustrator winners. In his acceptance speech, Desmond relayed to the nearly five hundred attendees, “Short story anthologies are such a beautiful piece of speculative fiction culture, and for L. Ron Hubbard's estate to continue nurturing emerging writers is a truly special gift. Thanks to all the judges and everyone at Author Services, Inc. and Galaxy Press responsible for anthologies like ‘Writers of the Future' for facilitating the journey of our imaginations to faraway times and places to the solace and escape of the story. My intent with this Golden Pen Award it to someday join your ranks and be able to touch minds and influence lives the way you've influenced mine in this wondrous venture of written storytelling.” Desmond Astaire is a speculative fiction storyteller from Central Illinois, where he navigates the journey of life alongside a devoted wife and forever-loved son. In his other life, Astaire is a senior enlisted leader for a military public relations unit, supervising the training, development, and operations of multimedia content creators. Astaire's lifelong obsession with science fiction and fantasy was forged as a child in the halls of local public libraries. The addiction was enabled by reading programs like Accelerated Reader and BOOK IT!, and the revelation to write professionally was born after his discovery of Dean Wesley Smith's Star Trek: Strange New Worlds anthology. For these formative experiences, he is forever grateful. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future Contest and was honored at the Writers and Illustrators of the Future Awards Gala in Hollywood, California on April 28th. Her story, "The Last Dying Season," is published in the international bestselling anthology, L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume 38. Brittany's story was released last year in Volume 38 but she was unable to attend the awards event due to giving birth to her 5th child. More recently, Volume 38 was awarded the Ben Franklin Award for Best Science Fiction & Fantasy this year by the Independent Book Publishers Association at their conference which was held in San Diego, California on May 5th. Brittany grew up as the only girl in a family with four brothers. She's reversing that trend with her own children—three girls and one boy. In 2009, Brittany graduated with her RN from Brigham Young University-Idaho. She received her BSN in 2010. Brittany has worked in both medical/surgical and rehabilitation specialties, but she currently enjoys work as a stay-at-home-mom. Brittany started writing at a young age, penning poems and stories, and filling an overstuffed nightstand with spiral notebooks, pens, and floppy disks (yes, those were still a thing in 2007). But after entering college, Brittany lost touch with her writing and didn't come back to it for several years. After having her third child in 2015 and needing a creative outlet, her passion for writing reignited. Once she found the Writers of the Future Contest, Brittany has not missed a quarter and has been a Writers of the Future finalist three times. She was a Published Finalist last year entering in the contest her story, “Half-Breed,” appearing in L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume 37. As a winner this year, her story, "The Last Dying Season," is published in Volume 38. Brittany lives with her husband and children near the Snake River in Idaho, where she swears it looks like a wintered Narnia for nearly half the year. She has many pairs of fuzzy socks. The Contest, one of the most prestigious illustrating competitions in the world, is currently in its 40th year and is judged by some of the premier names in speculative fiction. His story, "The Fall of Crodendra M," is illustrated by Chris Arias of Cartago, Costa Rica who is himself a winner of the Illustrators of the Future Contest. The story and illustration along with the other writers' and illustrators' stories and art are published in the international bestselling anthology, L. He makes soap, bakes too many paleo brownies, reads, runs, and writes. His favorite authors are K. L. Going, Laini Taylor, and John Steakley. While this may seem an eclectic group, he reads more for style than content. And oh, the style! You can find his flash-length works in Every Day Fiction and Daily Science Fiction. His longer works appear in Future Finalists Publishing's Starlight series where he served as editor for volume two. In his story, “The Fall of Crodendra M” T. David's winning story, "White Elephant," is published in the international bestselling anthology, L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume 39 with an official release date of May 2, 2023. Dave Henrickson has been in love with science fiction since he was nine years old. He still remembers turning a corner in his local library and seeing rack upon rack (okay, three racks) of juvenile science fiction, which fired his imagination and transported him to strange new worlds. Unlike other boys his age, he never developed an obsession with cars or other such pedestrian forms of travel. When the original Pirates of the Caribbean was released in 2003, career upticks were abound for all involved. The third sequel was supposed to mark the end of the franchise, so all the stars went their separate ways to do other projects. Orlando Bloom was everything from a romantic lead (Elizabethtown) to a sandal wearing swordsman (Kingdom of Heaven). Keira Knightly was a bounty hunter (Domino) and a fixture in period pieces (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice). So, when rumblings of another sequel in the Disney attraction based franchise started to get louder, the two stars had every reason to say thanks, but no thanks. However, third star Johnny Depp had a bomb called The Tourist in the rear view, and needed a hit. So, why not write a new entry starring its Oscar winning background character? That's exactly what they did, and the result, is Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides. Join Matt, Adam, and Garrett as they continue on the ride that is the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise with this review of the fourth entry in the franchise. After being disappointed in their revisit of At Worlds End, can On Stranger Tides avoid the rough current of their words? Listen in to find out!

Fans of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise were thrilled when Orlando Bloom, who played the role of Will Turner in the first three films, recently expressed his interest in returning for the sixth film of the swashbuckling adventure franchise. During a recent interview with Parade, Bloom shared his thoughts on potentially revisiting the character of Will Turner, saying, “I wouldn't mind seeing what Will looked like today in some ways, because he was such this earnest guy, but after rumbling around the bottom of the ocean for as long as he would have done at this point, it'd be interesting to see how he surfaces and what he's like.” Bloom first portrayed the character in the franchise's first film, “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl,” in 2003. The character was initially depicted in the film as a blacksmith's apprentice working in Port Royal, Jamaica, who embarks on a life-changing adventure with Captain Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp, after the love of his life, Elizabeth Swann, played by Keira Knightley, is kidnapped by pirates. Bloom returned as Will Turner in the franchise's second and third films, “Dead Man's Chest” and “At World's End,” respectively. In these films, Will replaces Davy Jones as the immortal captain of the Flying Dutchman. This plot point was revisited in the franchise's fifth film, “Dead Men Tell No Tales,” in which Will and Elizabeth's son, Henry, played by Brenton Thwaites, seeks the Trident of Poseidon to destroy it and break all curses imposed by the sea, including the one that binds his father to the Dutchman. Bloom also made a brief cameo in the franchise's fifth film, including the film's post-credits scene, which teased a potential sixth film involving the return of Davy Jones. Should Disney move forward with “Pirates of the Caribbean 6,” which has been in various stages of development since 2011, it could be a family affair with Brenton Thwaites also expressing interest in returning for a sixth film or spinoff. “Pirates of the Caribbean” remains one of Disney's most successful film franchises, with all installments grossing over $650 million worldwide. It was also the first franchise to have two films, “Dead Man's Chest” and “On Stranger Tides,” gross over $1 billion at the worldwide box office. The franchise even crossed over with the open-world video game “Sea of Thieves” in 2021 with a free expansion that included a new original story featuring Jack Sparrow and Davy Jones. The original 1967 theme park from which the films are derived continues to operate at Disneyland. As fans eagerly await the return of the beloved “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, the potential return of Orlando Bloom as Will Turner has only added to the excitement surrounding the upcoming sixth film.

The official release of the anthology was April 12th. However, due to paper shortages, the trade paperback will be released on June 28th. In his acceptance speech, Zaine relayed to the nearly five hundred attendees, “I don't think I would have made it this far if it hadn't been for my girlfriend, Haley Burton, whom I'd like to thank. She would tell me, ‘You need to get better at managing your time. Just do it.' Thank you for encouraging me to stick with it. It means so much to me. From now on, every morning, I will continue to do what I do.” Zaine Lohdi was born in 1999 in the seaside tourist town of Sarasota, Florida. He feels as if his path as an illustrator was predestined—he has known the trajectory of his life since childhood. Zaine was surrounded by incredible fantasy art from a young age, collecting Magic: The Gathering cards and whatever comics he could get his hands on. The art of Frank Frazetta, Alex Ross, and Gerald Brom were pivotal in his stylistic development. Zaine is currently studying illustration with a visual development (concept art) focus at Ringling College of Art and Design. He placed the most importance on programs that value an unwavering work ethic and emphasize preparation for the workforce. He has a strong classical painting background fostered by professors who specialize in figure and landscape painting—he combines traditional painting and drawing skill sets with his visual library to produce concept art for games and film. Currently, he is a student freelance illustrator looking to join a studio and make a mark in the video game industry upon graduation. The Contest, one of the most prestigious illustrating competitions in the world, is currently in its 34th year and is judged by some of the premier names in speculative fiction. The Illustrators of the Future Contest judges include, Bob Eggleton (11 Chesley Awards and 7 Hugo Awards), Larry Elmore (Dungeons & Dragons book covers), Echo Chernik (graphic designs for major corporations including Celestial Seasonings tea packaging), Rob Prior (art for Spawn, Heavy Metalcomics and Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Ciruelo (Eragon Coloring Book). The intensive mentoring process has proven very successful. The 382 past winners of the Illustrating Contest have produced over 6,000 illustrations, 360 comic books, graced 624 books and albums with their art and visually contributed to 68 TV shows, and 40 major movies. The 452 past winners of the Writing Contest have published 1,150 novels and nearly 4,500 short stories. They have produced 32 New York Times bestsellers and their works have sold over 60 million copies. The Writers and Illustrators of the Future Award is the genre's most prestigious award of its kind and has now become the largest, most successful and demonstrably most influential vehicle for budding creative talent in the world of contemporary fiction. Since inception, the Writers and Illustrators of the Future contests have produced 36 anthology volumes and awarded over $1,000,000 cumulatively in prize moneys and royalties. On the swashbuckling finale of the Old Millennials Remember Movies SUMMER OF BRUCKHEIMER, co-hosts Tyler and Angela discuss the entirety of Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise. Yes, we know talking about Johnny Depp is a thorny issue these days, but thankfully, the charm, spectacle and weirdness of the "Pirates" franchise extends far beyond a single actor, and it's still fair to say the character of Captain Jack Sparrow qualifies as a definitive early 2000s pop culture phenomenon. The co-hosts predictably gush about the first film, 2003's still spectacular "The Curse of the Black Pearl," a blockbuster that takes big risks and delivers against long odds. Seriously, who would've thought a movie based on a theme park ride could work? Credit to the off-kilter presence of drunken/insane Captain Jack, steady romantic leads in the form of Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley, a scenery-chewing Geoffrey Rush as cursed baddie Captain Barbossa, lush production design, quality CGI and daring direction by Gore Verbinski. Tyler and Angela also discuss the sequels and rigorously defend the divisive 2nd and 3rd entries, 2006's "Dead Man's Chest" and 2007's "At World's End." Those Verbinski sequels are almost adversarial in their strange and twisty creative choices, and Tyler in particular loves it when filmmakers deliberately antagonize the masses. The co-hosts also recall experiencing the revamped "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride at Disney World on its opening day (much ado about almost nothing) as well as seeing "Dead Man's Chest" on their honeymoon. The Old Millennials also slog through the series weak point, 2011's "On Stranger Tides," then (sorta) defend the much-maligned 2017 entry, "Dead Men Tell No Tales." Zombie sharks! The key to a successful "Pirates" movie? Let Jack Sparrow be an instrument of chaos and let the other characters deliver key story elements. So take a listen, me hearties, and try not to be eaten by a Kraken while sinking down to Davy Jones' locker. It's the oversized finale to the summer-long look at the blockbuster films of producer Jerry Bruckheimer on Old Millennials Remember Movies! Yo ho! Also discussed on this episode of Old Millennials Remember Movies: The Green Knight (2021) Annette (2021) Cruella (2021) Reminiscence (2021) The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard (2021) Paw Patrol: The Movie (2021) Vivo (2021) Hudson Hawk (1991)

Tim Powers is my favorite author. There, I said it. Now that the cat’s out of the bag, let’s talk about this episode. Tim is the author of many incredible novels, such as - On Stranger Tides, The Anubis Gates, The Stress Of Her Regard, Expiration Date and Alternate Routes. Twisted histories? Sort of. More like a fictional unveiling of the secrets behind historical figures and events. Why did Blackbeard drink burning rum mixed with gunpowder? Why did Thomas Edison throw firecrackers at his terrified children? Who wad Spring-Heeled Jack, really? Read Tim’s books and you’ll find out the answers to these questions and many, many more. I might add, you’ll be VERY entertained and enthralled, too, when reading the words of Tim Powers. We talk about UFO’s, Tim’s writing process (which is sometimes a little rough), freeways in Los Angeles and why most of the main characters, or, heroes, in Tim’s books get run so ragged. Hint - I’m calling it the “Diehard Effect” from now on.

Yo Ho, Yo Ho, here we go again! It's movie number four in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise: "On Stranger Tides." This was the long awaited installment following a extended hiatus that saw the changing of many leaders in the Disney company including one of the producers behind the original Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. Perhaps it is changing of the guards and the EXTREME trimming of the budget (made for 100 Million dollars LESS than At World's End.) that makes this film feel like it's...missing something.Though we are missing a Will Turner and a Elizabeth...Turner, we still have Captain Jack Sparrow...though he doesn't do much captain-ing in this movie. Gibbs, is back and loyal as ever. Barbossa, a turn-coat Privateer in the service of his Majesty. Jack is in need of an adventure and finds one in an old flame played by the intoxicatingly gorgeous Penelope Cruz who turns out to be the long-lost daughter of Blackbeard himself, played by Ian McShane. Severely watered down supernatural elements and a ragged supporting cast offer some level of fun but may have earned it's reputation as the most disappointing additions to the Pirates of the Caribbean. But don't let that stop you from listening in on the more rewarding elements of the movie. Email us with questions, comments and ideas for future episodesdisneychannelsurfers@gmail.comFollow us on InstagramListen to us on Spotify or wherever you listen to podcastsJoin us for the final film in our voyage through the Pirates of the Caribbean movies with "Dead Men Tell No Tales"

Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi, William Thrasher and very special guest Alexander Miller (Producer of The Trailer Project) discuss Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), Captain Hector Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), and Captain Blackbeard (Ian McShane) all try to track down the Fountain of Youth. To get there, they will have to find hidden treasure, trick deadly mermaids, and avoid a Spanish Armada. Inspired by the Tim Powers novel On Stranger Tides (itself an inspiration for the classic Monkey Island computer game series), this flick tries to be a soft reboot and instead just sits there on the silver screen with no real sense of purpose. Things start off with flourish as Captain Jack poses as a Judge, runs through the streets of London, and battles a doppelganger. A heavy quest structure bogs down the rest of the story which lumbers along with a handful of milquetoast characters.  Mat loves the super detailed production histories in the recent tome Jim Henson: The Biography by Brian Jay Jones. Alexander digs the Abel Ferrara vampiric drug allegory The Addiction, but was less impressed with the recent Dick Cheney biopic Vice. Thrasher likes the recent meme spawning Netflix feature Bird Box.  The next few movie series we'll be covering are: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017) The Fugitive (1993) U.S. Marshals (1998)  Waxwork (1988) Waxwork 2: Lost in Time (1992) Follow the show on Twitter @Sequelcast2 Like our Sequelcast 2 Facebook Page The theme song to the Sequelcast is written and performed by Marc with a C. Is the MacGuffin truly interchangable, and how does it impact on your character writing? Stu and Chas are joined by a special guest - Scriptmag contributor Brad Johnson - to discuss how the choice of the MacGuffin can impact on the quality of an action/adventure film. To test this thesis, our heroes compare the auspicious originals of two iconic franchise with their, um, less-than-auspicious 4th instalments (in other words we compare RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK with KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL and THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL with ON STRANGER TIDES) as well as look at two recent & original entries into the genre, namely NATIONAL TREASURE and PRINCE OF PERSIA. Our heroes uncover how key the relationship between the protagonist and the MacGuffin is and how this can impact on writing in any genre, not just action/adventure. Suprisingly, Brad brings up STAR WARS before Stu does...
