A tragedy made it more terrible by how preventable it was. It is urgent that this story be told and widely shared, given the tidal wave of depression and anxiety disorders that has washed over the United States in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially among young people. That tidal wave, combined with the overprescribing of powerful brain-altering medications and the widespread lack of awareness about the potentially lethal side effects of these drugs, is a prescription for disaster. This is a heartbreaking story of filicide, the potential risks of powerful antidepressants, and unforgiving justice with respect to crimes involving mental illness. He is the author of "Medication, Mental Illness, and Murder: What Really Killed the Crespi Twins." https://www.amazon.com/Medication-Mental-Illness-Murder-Really/dp/1538199297http://www.yourlotandparcel.org

Glyphosate is a toxic carcinogenic chemical found in RoundUp, a weedkiller that is routinely sprayed on our lawns and crops. But the bad news doesn't stop there! It is making its way into the food we eat, the air, and the water. Worse still, the maker of glyphosate, Bayer, is working on passing liability shield legislation so that they cannot be sued for the way the poison in their products is affecting the nation! Today, Kelly Ryerson, known as the Glyphosate Girl, explains why she is working so hard to inform the public about the dangers of glyphosate and the company that wants to protect itself from the fallout of the harm it is causing. Kelly goes over the legislation that is being considered in various states across the country. She also explains why glyphosate is so damaging, how it personally affected her own life, and how a General Mills whistleblower helped her to connect the dots about it all. Update: The liability legislation being considered in North Dakota, at the time of the interview, has since been passed in that state. In our newest episode, Allison decided to scar Marie for life by making her watch Insidious. This 2010 paranormal horror has scares for days leading up to the climax, but do they fall off when they're needed most? Even though the end of this movie is scary AF, we aren't sure if the sequels are worth a watch or if we should chalk Insidious up to a wannabe Poltergeist. It looks like 2025 is going to be the year of the Werewolf and we're stoked about that! The first entry is Leigh Whannell's reimagining of the WOLF MAN. We remember his reimagining of the Invisible Man in 2020, another attempt at reimagining a classic Universal Monster as well as his hits Saw and Insidious. This lean and mean production features the seasoned actors Christopher Abbott and Julia Garner, playing a husband and wife dealing with the werewolf business as an infection as opposed to a curse. The Most Insidious Sin What is the worst of all sins? Brutality? Rape? Murder? Church fathers like Augustine and Aquinas saw those as true evils, but they also understood all evil stems first from putting our inner desires first, before God. Thus, it is the sin of Pride they held as the root of every other kind of evil. is possibly the worst of all sins. In this podcast, I'll be unpacking a sin that is too often overlooked–especially so in the church! See how the ignored practice of Vainglory is subtlety malicious and, as C.S. Lewis noted, able to transform a good man into an absolute scoundrel. Yet, in the 21st century we are more in danger of falling prey to it than ever before. In fact, very visible Christians have been corrupted already. Join in and learn how to tackle the most insidious sin.

Patrick Wilson wears many show-business hats. Fans of his Tony-nominated work on Broadway may not know of his involvement in the spooky Insidious and The Conjuring movies. (He even made his directorial debut on Insidious: The Red Door.) And horror/supernatural fans might have missed his star performances in the celebrated arthouse hit Little Children and the Mike Nichols-directed miniseries version of Tony Kushner's Angels in America for HBO. Leonard and Jessie are longtime fans of his—even more so after this congenial conversation.

Segment 1: Complacency – The Silent Drift "Let's start with complacency. It's the idea that ‘I'm good where I'm at'—the spiritual autopilot. Maybe we've read the Bible enough, prayed enough, or served enough that we start thinking we've ‘arrived.' But the Bible warns us about this. Revelation 3:16 says, ‘So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.' That's a strong warning! Complacency leads to stagnation. We stop growing, stop striving, and soon, we're spiritually asleep. So, how do we fight it? Stay hungry for the Word, set new spiritual goals, and challenge yourself in your walk. Surround yourself with people who push you toward God, not just comfort." Segment 2: Overconfidence – The Subtle Pride "Then there's overconfidence. Thinking we're strong enough on our own, we stop depending on God. 1 Corinthians 10:12 warns, ‘So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall!' Even Peter, who walked on water, denied Christ when he thought he was strong enough to stand on his own. Overconfidence makes us pray less, read less, and trust ourselves more than God. The enemy loves it when we're running on self-power, because that's when we're most vulnerable. So, how do we fight this? Stay humble. Daily surrender to God. Keep your dependence on Him. Never let past victories make you think you don't need to suit up for battle today." Segment 3: Distraction – The Hidden Enemy "If the devil can't destroy you, he'll distract you. And today, distractions are everywhere—social media, entertainment, endless scrolling, busyness. Luke 10:41-42 tells the story of Martha and Mary. Jesus says, ‘Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one.' We can be so busy doing everything but spending time with Jesus. And that's exactly how distraction works—it fills up our schedules and minds so there's no room left for God. So, how do we fight it? Be intentional. Set aside time for God first. Turn off the noise. Protect your focus." Segment 4: Desensitization – The Slow Fade "Desensitization happens when we get used to things that once convicted us. Maybe it's the content we consume, the language we hear, the attitudes we accept. We start compromising in small ways, and soon, things that once grieved us don't even bother us anymore. Romans 12:2 tells us, ‘Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.' We can't let culture define what's acceptable—only God can do that. To fight desensitization, we have to constantly realign our hearts with Scripture and ask the Holy Spirit to keep our hearts soft toward the things that matter." Segment 5: Apathy – The Lack of Fire "Lastly, apathy. When we just don't care as much anymore. Maybe we've been hurt, disappointed, or just weary. But indifference is dangerous. Revelation 2:4 says, ‘Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.' If your passion for God has faded, it's time to reignite it. Remember what He has done. Serve others. Get back to prayer and worship—not just as a habit, but as a lifeline. Apathy is defeated when we stir up the fire of faith again." "So, let's recap: complacency, overconfidence, distraction, desensitization, and apathy—these are the real threats we face today. Not external attacks, but internal erosion. But here's the good news: we don't have to fall for them. God gives us everything we need to stay strong. Take action today. Ask yourself, ‘Where have I let my guard down?' and invite God to reignite your passion and focus. www.TheSecondAdam.com

Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes Marvel finally gave us our first official look at The Fantastic Four: First Steps with the release of the teaser trailer during a special launch event Tuesday morning, for which The First Family's cast itself was on hand to present AND WHAT A TRAILER IT WAS…Marvel led the drop with a space race-esque countdown in theme with the film's 1960s aesthetic. We met all of the four main characters and even saw a glimpse of the biggest bad of all…Galactus. Last week we reported on Doctor Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch's statements about officially not being a part of Avengers: Doomsday. The very next day the actor recanted his claims in an interview with Business Insider, saying, "I got that wrong, I am in the next one,” adding, "Don't ever believe anything I say." Elsewhere, Chris Evans had a record of his own to set straight, denying the many reports that he has been cast to return in Doomsday while speaking with Esquire, claiming, “That's not true, though. This always happens. I mean, it happens every couple years — ever since Endgame. I've just stopped responding to it. Yeah, no — happily retired!” Finally, in an interview on Andy Cohen Live, the legendary Patti LuPone may have shed some light on the future of Disney Plus series WandaVision and Agatha All Along, saying showrunner Jac Schaeffer told her she doesn't do second seasons. Sunday's Super Bowl LIX, where the Kansas City Chiefs will defend their title against the Philadelphia Eagles, is bound to bring a bevy of trailers for movies and series in tow, but let's talk about what exactly is confirmed, expected, predicted, and everything in between: only three motion picture studios have been willing to invest the substantial sum of $7.5 to $8 million for a single 30-second commercial spot: Disney, Paramount, and Universal. Disney plans to showcase trailers for several anticipated films, including the live-action remake of Snow White, the animated feature Lilo & Stitch, the original animated film Elio, and upcoming Marvel entries such as Thunderbolts*. Paramount is expected to promote its diverse lineup, which includes the Jack Quaid-led action film Novocaine, a musical Smurfs movie featuring Rihanna, and the latest installment in the Mission Impossible franchise, Final Reckoning. Universal may reveal trailers for How To Train Your Dragon, the horror sequel M3GAN 2.0, and Jurassic World Rebirth. Notably absent is Warner Bros and DC Studios. Actor-director Benny Safdie will join Christopher Nolan's upcoming film The Odyssey, following his role as Edward Teller in Oppenheimer. Recent cast additions include Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin, and Samantha Morton. Netflix is developing a new Little House on the Prairie series, 40 years after NBC's original adaptation, this time with Rebecca Sonnenshine of The Vampire Diaries and The Boys as showrunner. Jake Gyllenhaal will star in M. Night Shyamalan's upcoming supernatural romantic thriller, which Shyamalan and Nicholas Sparks are collaboratively developing as both a film screenplay and a novel. Sony Pictures has set a release date of August 29th for Darren Aronofsky‘s Austin Butler-led feature Caught Stealing. The film that previously held that date, the sixth film in the Insidious franchise, has moved back a year to Aug. 21, 2026. Robert Eggers has closed a deal to write and direct a new Labyrinth film for TriStar Pictures. Plot details are under wraps, but sources tell Deadine that the film is a sequel to, rather than a remake of, Jim Henson's 1986 classic.

WOLF MAN MOVIE REVIEW The early excitement over the new Wolf Man movie had less to do with there being a new reboot of the Universal classic monster, The Wolf Man, and more with the writer/director Leigh Whannell. As a writer he created the Saw and Insidious franchises with James Wan. As a director, he… Read More »Highly Suspect Reviews: Wolf Man

LOOK OUT! It’s only Films To Be Buried With! Join your host Brett Goldstein as he talks life, death, love and the universe with the prolific and well credited filmmaker and actor LEIGH WHANNELL! A really lovely chat with someone who you will very likely know from films that have come up many times on this very podcast, so you know you're in for some goodness here... A delightfully self deprecating (in the best ways) and entertaining catch up which covers so much, including but not limited to working with James Wan, making films out of pocket and how to handle low budgets, creating a millennial Freddie Krueger, Insidious and Saw and working on such franchises, devilish alchemy, creative uncoupling, healthy fear of disease and the list goes on! And if you came here for an ethereal Sisyphian tone poem, we've got ya covered. OH ALSO - spoiler bits for Invisible Man where he runs through a scene as he wrote it (which is maybe not so suitable for folk of sensitive disposition) - just so you know. Never let death get in the way of a dollar! Enjoy! Video and extra audio available on Brett's Patreon! I spoke with Leigh Whannell, the director and co-writer of the new movie “Wolf Man.” The movie stars Christopher Abbott ("Poor Things") and Julia Garner ("Ozark" and "Inventing Anna.") I won't give anything away, but I'll just say that they take a trip to a house in the middle of the woods and not-great things happen. Film/slasher fans know Leigh as the co-creator of "Saw" and fun party guy Jigsaw, and was the writer of the recent "Invisible Man" remake starring Elizabeth Moss. He's done a bunch of other stuff, and to use a polite term, they're all pretty effed up. This film was produced by Blumhouse Productions, the wildly successful indie production house that is the force behind “The Purge,” “Insidious,” “Paranormal Activity,” and tons of more flicks designed to scare that crap out of us. I spoke with Leigh a few days ago to find out how he's gotten so damn good at monetizing terror and also to ask him point blank, what the hell is wrong with you? Learn more about your ad choices.
