Send us Fan MailWelcome back to DRM!We will be mixing it up with traditional, shorter audio only reviews, 4K video reviews for larger films and of course the 4K Hollywood Interviews. Minions & Monsters is a 2026 animated comedy set in 1927 Old Hollywood, where a new trio of Minions—James, Henry, and Ed—accidentally become silent‑era stars after crashing a film set. Their fame collapses once sound movies arrive and expose their inability to follow scripts, pushing them to chase a new dream: making their own monster movie. Armed with a spellbook from a former evil sorcerer boss, they summon creatures to act in their film, befriend a cute Lovecraftian monster, and unintentionally unleash a chaotic, world‑threatening horde. The Minions must then band together to fix the disaster they created, blending slapstick mayhem with colorful Old Hollywood flair. Directed by Pierre Coffin, the film features an all‑star voice cast including Trey Parker, Allison Janney, Christoph Waltz, Jesse Eisenberg, and Jeff Bridges. It celebrates creativity, teamwork, and the lovable chaos that defines the Minions' misadventures.Remember to grab your 30 Day Free Audible Trial - Link in the show!Support the showThe audio/video clips used in this podcast, including excerpts from movie/series/documentary trailers, are used under the principles of fair use and fair dealing for the purpose of criticism, commentary, and review. Tonight on Damn You Hollywood we review Minions & Monsters (2026), the latest entry in Illumination's billion-dollar franchise and the seventh film overall in the Despicable Me series. Directed by Pierre Coffin and written by Coffin and Brian Lynch, the film features the familiar Minions alongside a voice cast that includes Trey Parker, Allison Janney, Christoph Waltz, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeff Bridges, Zoey Deutch, Bobby Moynihan, and Phil LaMarr. Set in 1927—more than four decades before the events of the first Minions film—the story follows Kevin, Stuart, Bob, and the gang as they head to Old Hollywood with dreams of making their own monster movie. Since the first Minions surprised us with an unexpectedly thoughtful story about purpose, belonging, and finding something larger than oneself to serve, and The Rise of Gru shifted toward a lighter coming-of-age adventure, the question becomes whether this latest prequel recaptures the philosophical weight of the original or settles for slapstick and spectacle. We'll break down the story, animation, performances, themes, and where Minions & Monsters ranks within Illumination's remarkably successful franchise.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

Wow, it's July! We have a quick little episode to kick off the month and the second half of the year. Here's what we reviewed on the latest Breakfast All Day podcast: MINIONS & MONSTERS. The third Minion movie and the seventh film in the "Despicable Me" franchise is surprisingly hilarious, as those tiny, yellow chaos agents storm Hollywood and invent cinema as we know it. Lots of classic movie references for the adults in the audience and madcap hilarity for everyone, regardless of age. Allison Janney, Trey Parker, Christoph Waltz and Jesse Eisenberg are among the voice cast. In theaters everywhere now. YOUNG WASHINGTON. Before he was the first president of the United States, George Washington was a scrappy upstart with ambitions and mistakes to make. That's the point of this Angel Studios take on the founding father, set in 1755 Virginia. Starring William Franklyn-Miller, Kelsey Grammer, Ben Kingsley and Mary-Louise Parker. Coming soon to a middle school social studies classroom near you, but playing in theaters starting July 3. We'll be back on Friday with a review of "Enola Holmes 3," plus movie news. Stewart, Rastislav and Ken are back to decipher the conspiracy of Vivarium, a 2019 release from Fantastic Films and Screen Ireland. Stewart and Ken watched it on Shudder, where at the time of review it was the number one film on the service. The screenplay is by Garret Shanley and Lorcan Finnegan, and Finnegan also directed. The story follows young couple Tom and Gemma, a handyman/landscaper and teacher respectively, looking to purchase their first home together in an unnamed town (possibly in Ireland, where filming took place). They meet an eccentric sales agent named Martin who bids them to follow him to the new development called Yonder, where he promises to show them the first and last home they'll ever own. No sooner has he shown them around, then he vanishes; Tom and Gemma grow frustrated and decide to leave and try again another day. However, what at first seems to be a confusing neighbourhood layout is revealed to be a strange landscape that will not allow them to leave, no matter which way they turn. They eventually run out of gas and decide to stay in the house overnight. Soon, they begin receiving packages of food and other necessities from out of thin air; one package contains an infant boy, who grows at an accelerated pace and gradually takes on the role of their son. Tom literally throws himself into a hole as he tries to dig an escape tunnel in their front yard; he and Gemma grow distant as their new “son” grows into a strange adolescent. More time passes and their son becomes a sinister adult; Tom and Gemma have now realized how trapped they truly are, and receive hints that they aren't the only couple subjected to this experiment.Stewart, Rastislav and Ken all agree that actors Jesse Eisenberg and Imogen Poots as the couple have good chemistry and do their best with the material. They also liked aspects of the production design, visual effects and music. However, they were underwhelmed with the story, and felt that the passive attitudes of the main characters made it difficult to be invested in their fate. There are only vague hints given as to who is pulling the strings in the vivarium, and what these entities hope to learn in order to possibly conquer humanity.Written by Garret Shanley and Lorcan Finnegan, and directed by Lorcan Finnegan. Starring Jesse Eisenberg as Tom, Imogen Poots as Gemma, Jonathan Aris as Martin, Senan Jennings as Young Boy, and Eanna Hardwicke as Older Boy.  Rated R by the MPA for language and some sexuality/nudity. Runtime is one hour and 37 minutes. This is a public episode. If you would like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit unsungcinematics.substack.com

Katey and Chris are joined by This Had Oscar Buzz co-hosts Chris Feil and Joe Reid to once again take a way-too-early look at next year's Oscar hopefuls, from practically guaranteed contenders like Dune Part 3 and The Odyssey to the potential curveballs. Plus, they take a look back at last year's predictions, which were very right about One Battle After Another and Marty Supreme and very, very wrong about many others. Mike Pesca has built a long career as a news analyst and podcaster, but taking over the How To! franchise presents a very different challenge: learning the ropes of the advice show genre. He knows how to dissect complex political events, but the leap to solving eccentric listener dilemmas while maximizing entertainment value feels new. On this episode: How To!'s Mike Pesca turns the microphone on himself and brings on Ian Chillag and Mike Danforth, the veteran co-hosts of NPR's How to Do Everything and producers for Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me! Ian and Mike offer Mike guidance on bypassing straightforward answers to find weirdly perpendicular solutions, the importance of providing "nutritious" conversational facts—and why you should never, under any circumstances, climb inside a refrigerator with Jesse Eisenberg.
