In this special episode of the Wisdom Radio Hour, Eckhart Tolle talks about the power of the present moment. When are present, we are no longer identified with the stream of thinking. We can see a thought without needing to follow it. We can then wake up to a more true version of us, what he calls "the essence of who we are," not based on our life story or personal history. How much of the tension and stress we feel on any given day is caused by this desire to prove something to the world, to make ourselves more, to improve on "the story of me?" Eckhart suggests, "If you do not discover who you are, you can spend your entire life trying to build up a false sense of self."
