Soren Gordhamer is the founder of Wisdom 2.0, and produces unconventional, consciousness raising events that explore how we can live with awareness and wisdom in our current technology-rich age. In this vulnerable conversation between host Eldra Jackson III and Soren, listeners learn how Soren finds his sense of purpose from a connection with source, and how his history of working with incarcerated youth influences his work with Wisdom 2.0 today.
Welcome back to the Robin Zander Show. My guest today is Eldra Jackson III. Eldra is a TED mainstage speaker and the co-executive director of Inside Circle, a non-profit which works to end cycles of incarceration and recidivism. Eldra was incarcerated for 24 years, with several years of that time spent in solitary confinement. Eldra now spends most of his time sitting with people inside and outside the prison system, helping them uncover their own truths to find greater internal peace. I first met Eldra through a Zander Media client, The Trium Group, where Eldra serves as a strategic advisor. I have since come to call him a friend. With their focus that “not all prisons have walls,” Inside Circle does transformative work to address the trauma and other wounds that create cycles of incarceration. Any time spent with Eldra is time well spent. I'm also pleased to share that Zander Media now produces The Inside Circle Podcast with Eldra Jackson III, with guests including Byron Katie, founder of The Work, Soren Gordhamer, founder of Wisdom 2.0, and many more. I hope you enjoy this wide ranging conversation with my friend, Eldra Jackson III!

What are the benefits and challenges as technology becomes the vehicle for practicing meditation? What is the role of apps in supporting mindfulness and when do we need to put down our phones and connect to ourselves and others? Soren speaks with Sharon Salzberg, author of Real Love, at the first annual Mindfulness in America Summit in New York to explore the role apps and other technologies have in creating a more aware and loving world. Topics and ideas covered in this episode: How we see mindfulness emerging in America How technology can wonderfully disseminate the voices of meditation teachers Emphasis on the “moment of coming back” How mindfulness allows us to look nakedly at our experience How our motivation to practice may change over time Turning our deep grief and perpetual outrage into action Partnership vs. Power dynamic Real love as awareness, where we place our attention Follow Wisdom 2.0: Twitter @Wisdom2conf Facebook @wisdom2conference Website wisdom2conference.com Mindfulness in America 2018
Soren writes and speaks on the merging of wisdom in modern life. While our technology age offers many benefits, for many people life has become increasingly chaotic, hurried, and stressful. Overwhelmed with a continual stream of emails, text messages, and cell phone calls, awareness of the body goes "off-line" and the present moment is lost. We live "disconnectedly connected," where we are connected to technology, but largely disconnected from that place of balance and well-being that resides in each one of us.
Soren Gordhamer works with individuals and groups on living with greater mindfulness and purpose in our technology-rich age. He is founder and host of the Wisdom 2.0 Conference, and the author of Wisdom 2.0: Ancient Secrets for the Creative and Constantly Connected (HarperOne, 2009), one of the first books to explore living with mindfulness and wisdom within the context of our modern technology age. Listen in as Michelle & Soren talk about fatherhood, parenting, and the adventures of the teen years. Within these thirty minutes you will not only hopefully be inspired but gain practical ideas for living more consciously with your children.
This conversation is with Soren Gordhamer and singer-songwriter, Jewel. This week’s podcast is a bit unique. It’s with singer-songwriter Jewel and also features a guest appearance from Wisdom 2.0 founder Soren Gordhamer. Soren’s brought tech leaders and wisdom leaders together to have a deep exchange of ideas and practices with one purpose: how to better impact the living and working environments for us and maybe the next generation. If you're not familiar with Wisdom 2.0, I encourage you to go check it out. Their next conference is in San Francisco from February 17-19. This conversation is primarily about Jewel - her path, her insights and where her music comes from. Jewel’s path is completely her own, yet at the same time, just like yours, just like mine, just like so many of us. She touches on universal concepts and principles that cut across humanity, that cut across all people. It's the deeper calling to belong to love, to touch our own potential and humanity, to adjust to the difficult and stay true to what authenticity means. To me that is a fundamental skill and approach to life, that is right at the center of what she's about. Her courage is demonstrated by her willingness to look within and not turn away from what is painful and dark --and there lies the spring from where her truth is expressed -- and -- in return the music, the movements, the words, and thoughts that come together to form beauty. I hope that comes across in this conversation. As a reminder these conversations are long form. There's no way to hack or shortcut the insights that people have worked their entire life to try to understand. There are no shortcuts for this and so the there should be no short cuts for the learning either. We want to be proficient, we want to be as expedient as we can possibly be in learning, but at the same time let’s embrace the long form and the watering of ideas, knowing that there's so much more to still unpack. In this conversation, we jump into why fear is a “thief.” Isn't that a cool word for fear? We also discuss doing the hard work to figure out who you truly are, what forgiveness means to Jewel, and why perfectionism has been an inhibitor to mastery or her. I want to share this idea one more time with you guys that: “every day is an opportunity to create a living masterpiece.” This conversation pulls on that thread like you wouldn't believe. So together hopefully we can make this commitment to carve our unique paths with some fuel and some fire and just really get after it in life.
Soren Gordhamer is the founder and host of the Wisdom 2.0 conference, which is lauded as one of the largest gatherings of meditators in the world, but it also has been the target of controversy. Raised in Lubbock, Texas, Gordhamer grew up as one of five kids in a Buddhist-friendly household and said he was drawn to meditation in high school as a way to deal with pain and suffering.
In this episode we’re joined by Soren Gordhamer, long time tech writer, and author of Wisdom 2.0: Ancient Secrets for the Creative and Constantly Connected. Soren often writes for the Huffington Post and Mashable (a social media blog) on the relationship between the inner world with technology and social media. He explores with us some of the potential shadow sides of technology, as well as some of the remedies that can be used in balancing our internal life with our external. He suggests that focusing more consciously on our internal world actually puts us in a position where we can use technology, instead of technology using us. Soren also shares some details on a conference that he’s organizing, which will be bringing together luminaries from both the spiritual and technology worlds. His hope is that a conversation between the two can better answer the question of how we live a life of wisdom in the modern world. He is hosting a two-day conference in Silicon Valley, April 30 - May 1, 2010, entitled "Wisdom 2.0," which is also the title of his recent book.
