POPULARITY
**EDITORS NOTE: This episode was recorded weeks before Roseanne 2018 was canceled! While 90's primetime and late night programming on network and cable TV was the driving force in this edition, the conversation eventually shifts to a lesson in local geography/political standings, the guys' adolescent hijinks involving cable boxes, Jay's experience meeting John Goodman at the Sauget Ballet and much more! Nowadays, you wouldn't want your TV show to air on a Friday night at all; no one would watch it. But back in the day, networks were still wise to steer clear of Friday nights, for fear of walking into ABC's ratings buzzsaw, the granddaddy of all branded programming blocks: TGIF! From its prehistory, to its heights, to its eventual decline and even some of its more obscure, forgotten offerings, Jay and illy chronicle their memories of it all. Unaccompanied minors make the Bay Area their home. An interview with artist Marc Bamuthi Joseph. San Francisco rapper Adam Vida.
Rapper Adam Vida (formerly known as A-1 @adamraps) has spent a good part of his life creating safe spaces for others. His music is a perfect reflection of who he is as a person, a fun, thoughtful, and creative individual who's aim is to: Think, Hustle, Understand, Really Live & Really love (THURL). He delivers party bangers whilst giving thoughtful criticisms of the world we live in. We talk about music as therapy, not "yucking another person's yum", & Voltron friends. In the years that followed the release of their second album, The Singleman Affair performed almost exclusively as a live band, integrating the different moods of the first two records into a live experience. The musical relationships established by the band formed the foundation of their third full-length album, “The End of the Affair”, a new, frenetic emotional tryst that personifies darker, heavier tones within their dense psychedelia. What was once the singular bedroom recordings of Daniel Schneider is now a full multi-dimensional band, backed by Adam Vida on drums (U.S. Maple), Gary Pyskacek on guitar and pedal steel, Jacob Smith on organ, and Sam Wagster (Cairo Gang, Fruit Bats) on bass.
