If you made a mashup of Shat The Movies films, "The Blood of Heroes" might be the result. It has a dose of "Mad Max," a pinch of "Blade Runner," two tablespoons of "Robot Jox" and just a hint of "The Sandlot." Definitely an acquired taste. Rutger Hauer returns to a dark, wet dystopia in this 1989 sci-fi cult classic that spawned the real-life game of Jugger and reminded Dick Ebert of all the niche sports he discovered in the early days of the pandemic. "The Blood of Heroes" piqued the Shat Crew's curiosity in a way few movies have, leading to questions about post-apocalyptic aristocracy, water conservation, armor design, measuring time in stones, nerd dream girls and the logistic of carrying large furniture as luggage. On this episode, we celebrate one of our favorite legendary actors. Nicolas Cage has entertained the masses for the better part of five decades. We've watched him grow from moody punk teenager to a myriad of leading roles, sometimes subdued, other times intense but always entertaining. The Cage-aissance is taking place and with the acclaimed, recently released "Dream Scenario" generating some positive buzz around our hero, it is only fitting we take the time to honor and discuss some of our favorite Nicolas Cage memories. He's survived bees, bounty hunters, a hijacked plane, and even John Travolta's chin and we're here for it! This week on the podcast we are joined by our old friend and the host of Steven's Untitled Rock Show on Fuse, Steven Smith! We talk about why Steven hired Jonah to be the head writer on his show despite the fact that he had no television writing experience, recount Steven's iconic roles on '90s TV shows like "California Dreams" and "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" and hear about his experience being on the first season of "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy." We also get deep into Steven's admiration of "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" and what made it such a groundbreaking show. Finally, we play a round of CHANGE DOT DORK where we collectively debate if music should be allowed at study hall, is there room in the candy aisle for the return of ZOURS and is a reboot of "The Sauce" worth your digital signature? Whether you're a fan of Steven's hosting, acting or podcasting, you'll learn something new about him—and possibly something new about yourself in the process—just by listening to this podcast. It wasn't a given that Deni Hines would pursue a career a music. Despite her mother, Marcia Hines, being one of the most recognisable pop stars in Australia, Deni had other interests and suffered from performance anxiety in her younger years. But her vocal talent soon got her snapped up as a backing singer for artists like Wa Wa Nee, Peter Blakeley and Kylie Minogue. It was her voice that also saw her hired as the latest frontperson for funk/dance band Rockmelons. In a frank and unflinching interview, Deni shares exactly what she thought of their collaboration and the hits that ensued. She also recalls guesting on "Not Enough Time" by INXS and what Michael Hutchence was like to work with in the studio. Then, after a solo deal in the US fell apart for reasons beyond her control, Deni landed at Mushroom Records and scored a top 5 hit with "It's Alright". She describes the process of putting together her debut album, Imagination, in London and follow-up singles like "I'm Not In Love" and "Delicious", a duet with Don-E that was added to the UK version of the album (retitled Pay Attention). When her time at Mushroom came to an end — following early 2000s single "Frenzy" — Deni went independent, and she talks about her various projects over the past couple of decades, including Water For Chocolate, The Soul Sessions and her upcoming album, due in 2024.Bonus material at chartbeats.com.au/aussieTwitter: @ChartBeatsAU, @TurnAroundOnJoyInstagram: @chartbeatsau, @joyturnbeataroundEmail: firstname.lastname@example.org

If you aren't a Kathleen Turner fan, haven't experienced a young Nicolas Cage or want to see what would happen if Francis Ford Coppola directed a time-travel fantasy rom-com, "Peggy Sue Got Married" is the movie for you. Both Shat The Movies hosts went into this 1986 film with low expectations, and each found something to appreciate. Dick Ebert appreciated the life lessons about living "in the now." And Gene Lyons did flips when he noticed the same cast playing the older versions of themselves. Jim Carrey didn't even change his hair! And you know the Shat Crew can't resist any movie featuring a bootstrap paradox, burrito theory, amazing grandparents and teen sex. Was "Peggy Sue Got Married" the original multiverse movie? Would you give a finger to be 10 years younger? Do time travelers have an obligation to preserve the future? All these questions are answered in this week's episode. Every boomer was gutted and then rocked by the tragedy of JFK's assassination followed by the joy of The Beatles' arrival at the airport named in his honor. Both topics continue to resonate. Today on the show, broadcasting pioneer and JFK assassination historian John Barbour joins us to discuss his latest film, John Barbour & William Shakespeare's Last Word On The Murder of JFK. And Breakfast With The Beatles Host Chris Carter is with us to talk about his live appearances and The Beatles' return to the charts!Emmy Winning writer/host/comedian/director John Barbour has been studying JFK's assassination since he first picked up Mark Lane's book, Rush To Judgement. John has extensively interviewed New Orleans D.A. Jim Garrison, who prosecuted alleged conspirator Clay Shaw and inspired Oliver Stone's groundbreaking film JFK. John's richly researched assassination documentaries soon followed. His third will be screened on November 22nd, the 60th anniversary of the assassination, at the Laemmle Encino Town Center.Breakfast With The Beatles host Chris Carter is a founding member of the 80s alternative band Dramarama, known for the iconic 1986 single, Anything, Anything (I'll Give You). He joins us to talk Beatles. With our attention now so diversified there will never be another band as popular, inspiring and influential. Chris is celebrating 40 years of broadcasting BWTB (now available five days a week on Sirius XM and Sundays on KLOS) with live broadcast events around Los Angeles. Chris shares his playlist programming process and discusses the challenges of doing justice to the most well known foursome in the world and their devoted fans. You can test your own Beatles knowledge as Chris reveals fascinating facts plus his insights into the relationships between the bandmates, his thoughts on what it was like to become world famous while still so young, and why the Beatles have fans of every age from every generation. And Chris shares intriguing background on the creation of the new hit song, Now and Then.
