Have we got a show for you! Kicking things off, Carmine, Daan, and Aaron talk about a smattering of just-announced 3DS games they got a chance to play, including the sequel to A Link to the Past, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, and Mario and Luigi Dream Team. This is a must listen! After that, Scott, Tyler, Zach, and Danny break down the week in news before discussing their impressions of the newly launched Wii U Virtual Console. One of us is much happier about the line-up than the others. Can you guess who? After the outro, you'll find another Doctor Who bonus segment with Scott, Patrick, and special guest Amanda Albert. The crew reviews the first half of season 7B and shares a good number of crack pot theories along the way. You'll never guess who is really a TARDIS! That's it for this week. As always, you can send us your listener mail to Connectivity@nintendoworldreport.com. Be sure to let us know what you think about the recent Iwata and E3 news, as well as what games you think the Virtual Console absolutely needs. See you next week!
The Nintendo World Report offices are empty and silent as the staff enjoys the holiday season, but a few lingering staffers have come together for this week's show. Starting things off, Neal, Scott, and Nicholas sit down to talk about their top 5 games from 2012. Despite some noticeable lulls over the year, the trio have put together a rather formidable and varied list of the top games across each of Nintendo's platforms. Be sure to let us know what your favorite games were! After the outro, Scott, David, and special guest Amanda Albert break down the latest Doctor Who Christmas special, "The Snowmen." How did the special compare to the other's before it, what are the implications for the rest of the season, and, seriously, is Oswin a ghost or what? They break it all down! As always, you can send us listener mail to Connectivity@nintendoworldreport.com. Also, thanks so much for an incredible 2012. From listener mail, to comments on Twitter and Miiverse, to the live panel at PAX East; your support has been unbelievable. Here's to an even beter 2013!
To continue the flurry of activity here at Crosstawk, we present another hot episode of DMP featuring Jonny and guest Amanda Albert, who brings her selection of The Dandy Warhols. This acid-pop band is often hilarious and always interesting. The lush music production incorporates electronic beats with electric guitars and lots of crazy lyrics. It's every bit as weird as the previous collaborations between these hosts (Ween, Weird Al, and Frank Zappa) but probably a little more accessible and recognizable than any of those. Here's the setlist: 1. Get Off (Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia) 2. Bohemian Like You (Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia) 3. Plan A (Welcome to the Monkey House) 4. Wonderful You (Welcome to the Monkey House) 5. Scientist (Welcome to the Monkey House) 6. The Last High (Welcome to the Monkey House) 7. The New Country (Odditorium or Warlords of Mars) 8. Smoke It (Odditorium or Warlords of Mars) 9. We Used To Be Friends (The Dandy Warhols Are Sound) 10. I Am Sound (The Dandy Warhols Are Sound) 11. Sad Vacation (This Machine) 12. The Autumn Carnival (This Machine) Encore: Belle and Sebastian - The Blues Are Still Blue (The Life Pursuit) We'd love to hear your feedback and requests! Please email crosstawk@gmail.com
And we're back! Discover Music Project returns after an extended vacation with one of the wildest episodes yet, as Jonny and co-host Amanda Albert peek into the weird, weird world of Frank Zappa. This virtuoso guitarist/composer has been a huge influence on many more famous musicians, yet his own work remains obscure and difficult to broach. In other words, he's a perfect candidate for the DMP treatment, and we have to thank listener Mike Torres for providing many of these song recommendations. This is one of the strangest, most challenging artists we've ever covered on the podcast. Stick with it, and your ears will be rewarded! Here's the setlist: 1. Peaches en Regalia 2. Father Oblivion 3. Son of Orange County 4. Let's Move to Cleveland 5. I'm the Slime 6. Zomby Woof 7. Cosmik Debris 8. Andy 9. Muffin Man 10. Watermelon in Easter Hay (Joe's Garage) Encore: Hampton Grease Band - "Maria" (Music to Eat) This is yet another example of a listener request episode; we'd love to get your own ideas for more music to play on the show, so please send your comments and ideas to crosstawk@gmail.com. Thanks for listening!
Just as promised, here's the latest episode of Rough Draught, recorded a few days ago up in Tallahassee, FL. Jon Rind and Mike Sklens are back, along with TAWK-112's Michael Casper, our buddy Antonio Siqueira, and Mike's self-proclaimed-reluctant girlfriend, Amanda Albert. Recorded on the 3rd of July, we decided to celebrate the eve of the birth of our nation with some All-American brews made and sold right here in the States.
