This week, it's the many flavors of America's great art form. Jazz. For more than a century this style of music has refused strict categorization. From Bop to Rag, Funk to Swing the cool sounds of Jazz are always mixing with and attaching itself to other genres. Today the polyrhythms, syncopation, and blue notes blend seamlessly with electronic beats, bass and melody. Exploring this musical confluence are Avatar, Psychedelicious, Sharon Robinson, Chillerstadt, Groove Inc and Beatropolis.

In 1938 Warner Brothers released a film based on the play by Barre Lyndon and called "The Amazing Dr. Clitterhouse." The film starred Edward G. Robinson and in a supporting role, Humphrey Bogart. The first two appearances of the story appeared on radio in 1941 and 1944. But in 1947, a longer slightly different version was broadcast over the radio program Studio One starring Paul Muni (right). This week a look at that broadcast.Music under commentary is by Chillerstadt called Seven Eleven from the Podshow Music Network.
While one might not think of Big Town as a detective series, it wasn't as much in its first run with Edward G. Robinson. But by 1942, the cast had changed and so had the theme. Managing Editor Steve Wilson of the Illustrated Press (portrayed by this time by Edward Pawley [right]) spent more time on the street investigating crime than he did running a newspaper.Music underneath is "Seven Eleven" by Chillerstadt available on the Podshow Music Network.
