We're pulling back the curtain on one of modern horror's most unforgettable new icons: Aunt Gladys from Zach Cregger's smash hit Weapons. Christina is joined by makeup department head Leo Satkovich and special makeup effects designer Jason Collins, the brilliant team behind her terrifying transformation. They explore how Aunt Gladys was brought to life: from drawing inspiration in Cindy Sherman's photography and John Waters' Pink Flamingos to perfecting the haunting look worn and played to perfection by Amy Madigan. They dig into the gory details — THAT potato peeler, wrangling a mob of kids, and much more. The conversation even dares to imagine a prequel Aunt Gladys, picturing a younger version in all her unsettling glory. And of course, the artists share exclusive Halloween costume tips straight from their own toolkit. Listen now! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Aunt lilly needs a date
Solomea's story begins in Drohobych, a city in the south of Lviv Oblast, Ukraine. At a young age, Solomea lost her hearing mainly because of two illnesses, Menangitis and Scarlett Fever. At the time, she was luckily old enough that she had learned to speak and read, so she adapted by learning how to read lips. Andy tells this heartwarming story of his mother's love in his latest book, "A Promise Kept: A Tribute To A Mother's Love." And Andy didn't know any of his mother's background and experiences until he was fifty years old. And he kept his promise to his mother to help others that were in need and indeed he has.Solomea was a young child when she and her family witnessed the "Nazi occupation of Poland and then the Soviet occupation of Western Ukraine," explains Mr. Semotiuk. His mom, was one of the first refugees to flee war torn Europe to Immigrate to North America.A life filled with challenges, loss of love, family and yet she never gave up. Years later, as a single mother, she was able to put her son through law school. Andy explains, "I watched my mother put me through law school on her hands and knees, washing floors." Mother and son had a very special bond. I don't think that a day goes by that Andy doesn't think and thank his mother for all that she's taught him and all that she did for him.Andy Semotiuk has also written a book entitled, "Solomea." Solomea, his great Aunt, was his grandmother's sister. She was also a very, successful leading dramatic soprano opera singer, but unfortunately WWII got in the way of her lengthy career. She performed with Enrico Caruso, Arturo Toscanini, Giacomo PucciniThere is so much more to this story. I hope you enjoy the listen. I have so much respect for Solomea, Andy's mother. She endured so much, yet she always landed on her feet. She connected with wonderful women that helped her along this complicated and challenging journey. Imagine immigrating to a new, unknown country, not speaking the language, not being able to hear, having no money or family. And yet Solomea prevailed and raised a wonderful son who is happily helping others in need of legal immigration services. It was a pleasure to speak with Paul and share this eye opening story of a young woman who wasn't afraid to step out alone.By the age of nine, Andy still never knew who his biological father was. Yet it was an honor for Andy to take the sir name of the gentleman who Andy referred to as his "grandfather/grandpa," who's name was William Semotiuk. Fr. Dave Heney joins Patrick to discuss Angels (7:09) what are the ranks of Angels? (13:08) Chris - I believe there was a point where I was saved by an angel at a work accident. (21:17) Break 1 Paula - My son is 48. When he was 9 months, I was traveling on a plane with him. I had an ectopic pregnancy. Sitting in airport with him...a couple sitting nearby. Asked lady to help me. They took me into ambulance...all was good...ended up in emergency rm. I always think that couple were my angels. (26:22) Kathleen - I felt angel Gabriel saved my sister. A week ago I asked for prayers for sister who was depressed. Relevant Radio prayed for us. Sister was in car accident. Someone asked her if she was OK. He witnessed the whole thing. She blacked out and 911 came. Dealt with brain bleed and now about a week later, she's doing much better. (30:04) Nancy - I was in an accident. Prior to the accident I said a prayer for protection. Everything that should have happened didn't. My husband witnessed a miracle and I avoided flipping over a truck. Hit so hard my handlebars bent together. I lifted off the seat and turned 180 degrees and ended up in a sitting position instead. I believe it was because of angels. (36:57) Randy - Guardian angel voice told me to move out of a fire area in Iraq in 2006. Also, when daughter was 5, we pulled into driveway. She saw a man that was fighting monsters. Got inside and she pointed to statue of St. Michael and she said that's the man. (40:33) Break 2 How are angels higher than human beings if human beings are made in the image of God? (43:04) Fred - Several years ago, involved in occult. I found out I was being spell cast by witches. Asked for the intercession of St. Gabriel. Walking to kitchen, saw golden white and felt peace and quiet vs the chaos. I looked into it and everything pointed into Archangel Gabriel. Sought help from parish and had priest visit. Janette - I had an experience with what I thought was an angel. Went to a retreat with aunt and wanted to say God bless you to someone. I saw an elderly woman standing by a bus stop. I walked toward her and she refused to look at me. Aunt tried to connect with her. All of a sudden she looked up and said 'you will go through many trials, but you will overcome because he has saved the world.' Shortly after, felt a warmth and knew that woman was an angel. She was out of sight after that.

Hello again pod friends! It's us again, the two blokes you sometimes listen to talking about films! The movie in question this week has a bad reputation, some would say it's unfair. We're not those people and this episode does nothing to dispel that reputation. But it's always fun to listen to us griping about movies that offend us with their badness, right? RIGHT?! Once again, Movie News is irrelevant to our current times as this was recorded in May. Yes, May. You heard that right. Of the Maypole. Of the Aunt who is usually depicted as an old lady but has for some reason become hot. Yes, MAY. We invite you to saddle up, ready yourselves for an abusive torrent of racist and disabled jokes (not us, it's the movie!), a massive dong on a spring and some of the worst puns you'll ever hear in a Hollywood movie (there are people who get paid the BIG bucks to come up with this shit...) So set up your severed head and shine a light through those eyeballs (don't forget to turn it upside down) and check out our latest and greatest video episode which you won't need Miss Lipnreader to interpret. The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 4: 6:05pm- Assata Shakur—a Black Liberation Army member who was convicted of murdering New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster in 1973—has died in Havana, Cuba of age-related health complications. She had been placed on New Jersey's Most Wanted List. However, mainstream media has simply described her as the “godmother and aunt of rapper Tupac Shakur.” 6:25pm- Leonardo DiCaprio's new movie, “One Battle After Another,” releases today—and it's getting rave reviews. While promoting the film, DiCaprio revealed prospective agents wanted him to change his name to “Lenny Williams” when he was first breaking into Hollywood. 6:40pm- REPLAY: Jack Ciattarelli—Republican candidate for Governor of New Jersey—joins The Rich Zeoli Show and reacts to a new report alleging Democrat Mikie Sherrill was barred from walking at her Naval Academy graduation ceremony because of her involvement in a widespread cheating scandal. Sherrill claims she never cheated—she merely covered up for cheating. Ciattarelli adroitly notes: if Sherrill will cover for cheaters in the Naval Academy, she'll cover for cheaters in Trenton.

Movie Meltdown - Episode 647 Join us for a prehistoric-packed episode as we welcome special guest "Dino" Don Lessem. He is an author, journalist, and was a scientific advisor for Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park! Not to mention building giant, robotic dinosaurs, befriending Michael Crichton and having a dinosaur named after him! Then we discuss some of our favorite dinosaurs in movies. And then more specifically... our favorite dinosaurs from the Jurassic Park series of films. And while we all try to figure out what our dinosaur names would be - we also mention… The Valley of Gwangi, getting a loan from Mark Cuban, the fake dinosaur dig, Troodon, Vince Vaughn, different things about dinosaurs impressed me, fire-breathing stripper dinosaurs, The Golden Age of Dinosaurs, apparently there's a lot of nudity, exotic places, a dinosaur head infested with wasps, paleontologist Jack Horner, an iguana dressed as a dinosaur, we're Disney… this is what we do… we traumatize children, the real Indiana Jones, opening a Mexican restaurant, The Boston Globe, the scavenger hunt for pieces, windshield wiper motors, the movie set is filled with suckups, it's a very 19th century kind of technology, low budget David Attenborough, if you can find the bootleg unedited version I highly recommend it, it's all about funding, lighting the desert in daytime, gorillas, could E.T. happen and where do I get amber? “I had a great Aunt who took me every Sunday to meet T-Rex… and it was like - love at first sight.”
In this episode, three different hosts share stories about encounters with entitled individuals. The first story involves a young person whose aunt believes she's entitled to her nephew's college tuition money. The second is about a "gluten mom" who attends a party and causes a scene after being told her daughter can't have a s'more. Lastly, a mom goes ballistic over a 10-minute car pickup delay, revealing her controlling and obsessive nature.

Gaza – The Gates of HellLast Saturday millions across the world, including here in Belfast, participated in one of the biggest ever solidarity events as part of a Global Day of Action in support of the Palestinian people. At the same time dozens of boats, and hundreds of human rights activists, are taking part in the largest civilian freedom flotilla. Among them are three senior Sinn Féin representatives; Lynn Boylan MEP, Seanadoir Chris Andrews and Shónagh Ní Raghallaigh TD. They are all on their way to the Gaza Strip in a courageous effort to break Israel's illegal blockade. Their aim is to deliver much needed food and medicine to the people of that besieged territory.Next month will mark two years since the commencement of the Israeli genocide assault against the Palestinian people, following the Hamas attack on 7 October 2023. The statistics of death and destruction are horrendous. To date almost 65,000 Palestinians have been confirmed as killed with many thousands more buried under the rubble of Gaza. Almost 20,000 children have been murdered and tens of thousands have suffered serious injuries, many of them life changing.UNICEF has described the situation in Gaza City as catastrophic with starvation now an integral part of Israel's genocidal war against civilians. Eight Palestinian children die every day from starvation. The Israeli forces kill 28 children every day. Over 350 children are daily being admitted to the limited U.N. facilities still operating within the Gaza Strip, suffering from acute malnutrition. Many will not survive and those who do will suffer from health problems for the rest of their lives because of this experience. The Voice of Hind RajabMovies can uplift and depress, frighten and inspire, and occasionally make us laugh. The Irish experience, through films like Hunger, which tells the story of Bobby Sands; In the Name of the Father which recounts the miscarriage of Justice experienced by the Guildford Four; of Michael Collins; Bloody Sunday and others is evidence of this. These movies focussed on important political or historical events while successfully and emotionally impacting on audiences.Last week ‘The Voice of Hind Rajab' received the longest ever standing ovation at the Venice film festival and won the Silver Lion prize. It is a drama based on true events – the killing by Israel of a five-year-old Palestinian child, Hind Rajab, in Gaza in January 2024.Hind was in a car with her Aunt and Uncle and four cousins trying to flee Israeli forces. Their car was struck by a shell and the adults and three children were killed. An Israeli tank fired consistently into the trapped vehicle. The fourth cousin was later killed. Hind was alone, surrounded by the bodies of her relatives. She spent hours on a mobile phone with the Palestine Red Crescent Society. She was terrified. She pleaded for help. “Come take me. You will come and take me? … I'm so scared, please come. Please call someone to come and take me.” Desperately the Red Crescent sought clearance from the Israeli Army to send an ambulance. They never got it.Van The ManA very happy 80th birthday to Van Morrison. This column is a big fan of Van the Mans music. It is great that he is still so creative. His latest offering Remembering Now is a gem. It is reflective and musically very very positive and uplifting. Not bad for a man who started in the sixties . Still going strong. Last year, after our True Crime Tuesday segment aired on KOIN's AM Extra, we received an email from the family of Alana Carroll- a woman whose story we had featured. Melissa, Alana's Aunt, along with Joyce, Alana's Grandmother, wanted to share Alana's story. For someone who didn't know Alana, her disappearance can be easily ignored, forgotten, or dismissed. As is the case with anyone who disappears or is murdered, there is so much more to the story and person. Alana wasn't disposable. She wasn't a junkie who no one loved. She was a daughter, a sister, a mother, a friend. And this August will mark two years since she was last seen alive. Her family is desperate for answers…and they hope you can help find their beloved Alana. For photos of Alana, the car accident she survived and what her body went through, visit our blog at murderintherain.comCourt records: Witnesses say man called ‘freaking out' with missing woman's body - Missing Clark County woman now presumed dead, investigators have identified a suspect - The Columbian - https://wsp.wa.gov/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Alana-Carroll.pdf - Clark County deputies confirm death of woman missing since 2023 - Alana Ranae Carroll – The Charley Project - Missing woman Alana Carroll presumed dead in Clark County - BeenVerified - Alana Carroll - Illegal substances are part of addiction problem in Oregon, but alcohol is biggest killer - OPB - Opioid Data | Washington State Department of Health - FindAGrave.com - The Columbian - Oct. 3 2000- Obituary - Been Verified Court Cases - BG man arrested for weapons, heroin possession | The Reflector - The Daily Astorian - Nov 29 1982- Marijuana Seized - The Columbian - June 30 1992 - Editorial - The Columbian - July 24 1992 - Editorial - Longview Daily News - May 27 2011 - Police Blotter -BG man arrested for weapons, heroin possession | The Reflector -The Columbian Nov 29 1982- Bust (PHOTO) - The Columbian Jan 20 1983 - Family pleads guilty to selling marijuana - The Columbian Feb 25 1983 - Kidnapped boy pleads guilty - The Columbian March 31 1983 - Courts - The Columbian June 4 2008 - Suspected heroin dealer arrested in Battle Ground - BeenVerified.com - Luke A.
