In this episode, I'm unpacking the unintended results of punishment, and why it isn't helpful with teenagers — and what actually is. We dig into the adolescent brain science behind why our kids make impulsive choices, why consequences are often just punishment in disguise, and how focusing on solutions builds the critical thinking skills our teens actually need. If you've ever wondered what to do instead of grounding, lecturing, or taking the phone away, this one's for you. Come listen and let's shift the mindset together. At the top of this Tuesday we take a trip up to Jupiter to hear from Marlins owner Bruce Sherman about the upcoming season for his Miami Marlins, and are joined by the Host and Reporters of The Hockey Show/The Hockey News to talk about the USA Hockey Team's run at Gold in the Winter Olympics, how Panther players are performing for their respective countries, and the bad blood between the Tkachik brothers and what seems like everyone in Hockey. Off the heels of the Dolphins release party, the gang reacts to Tyreek Hill's official farewell to Miami and the fans, discussing whether he was genuine and where he might land next, while rumors spread about KD's alleged burner account and whether his silence is the best path forward. We play our favorite Tuesday game Damage Is Done!, which spirals into Brittney trying to explain Figure Skating to everyone. Tobin nerds out over Netflix set to host an MMA fight between Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano, as Jaylen Waddle tries to clean up Twitter trouble after being accused of liking a tweet saying he wanted to be “next” to be released by the Dolphins. The gang goes sports heartache for sports heartache trying to top each other's trauma, before getting wrapped up in the Women's Short Program qualifiers, a public apology to Lithuania, and a 15-minute Heat lookahead to the return of the NBA after the All-Star break.

In Drama of Democracy: Political Representation in Mumbai (U Minnesota Press, 2025), Lisa Björkman invites our attention to political form and how they allow us to appreciate the various mediums through which representation is negotiated. Drawing on a decade of research in the city of Mumbai closely following the movements of corporation election candidates, protesting crowds, political rally organisers, and social workers, the book maps the linguistic, visual, sonic, and semiotic tools used to construct the spectacle of democracy. It asks: how does the figure of the crowd subvert what euromodern conceptions of political representation? How do films and their constructions of the public, the organising of rallies, election season cash flows, garlanding, placards and slogans in protests inform new meanings of representation? Through this richly engaging and genre-breaking work, Bjorkman offers new ways – originating from Mumbai – to explain the reorganisation of political authority around the world. Lisa Björkman is an Associate Professor in Urban and Public Affairs at the University of Louisville. She is the author of Pipe Politics, Contested Waters: Embedded Infrastructures of Millennial Mumbai, Waiting Town: Life in Transit and Mumbai's Other World-Class Histories, and Bombay Brokers. We are officially living the "O-head" Olympic lifestyle, but the podium isn't all glory. This week, we're debating Lindsey Vonn's controversial decision to compete on a torn ACL. Was it a display of heart, or did she rob a healthy athlete of their shot at gold? Plus, we break down the most unhinged post-race interview in history: a Norwegian bronze medalist who decided a global broadcast was the perfect place to trauma-dump about his infidelity and recent breakup. The conversation takes a serious turn as we dive into the Lucy Letby case. We analyze the trial of the neonatal nurse convicted of murdering infants and ask the tough question: was justice served, or did a flawed medical system produce a flawed trial? We also tackle the modern feminist dilemma of splitting the bill on a first date and explore the dark side of the creator economy—YouTubers who use FOIA requests to profit off body cam footage of women being arrested. Finally, Sarah is prepping for jury duty, and we're taking bets on how long it takes her to turn the courtroom into a Law & Order episode. #LucyLetby #OlympicDrama #LindseyVonn #TrueCrimePodcast #FirstDateEtiquetteBrain Candy Podcast Website - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/Brain Candy Podcast Book Recommendations - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/books/Brain Candy Podcast Merchandise - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/candy-store/Brain Candy Podcast Candy Club - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/product/candy-club/Brain Candy Podcast Sponsor Codes - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/support-us/Brain Candy Podcast Social Media & Platforms:Brain Candy Podcast LIVE Interactive Trivia Nights - https://www.youtube.com/@BrainCandyPodcast/streamsBrain Candy Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastHost Susie Meister Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterHost Sarah Rice Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBrain Candy Podcast on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodBrain Candy Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/braincandy (JOIN FREE - TONS OF REALITY TV CONTENT)Brain Candy Podcast Sponsors, partnerships, & Products that we love:For 50% off your order, head to https://www.dailylook.com and use code BRAINCANDYFor a limited time, get 60% off your first order, plus free shipping, when you head to https://www.smalls.com/braincandyHead to https://www.brodo.com/CANDY for 20% off your first subscription order and use code CANDY for an additional $10 off. The Derby d'Italia this weekend felt crucial in the race for this year's Scudetto. Musa and Ryan chat about Inter leaving it late to beat Juventus (05:03), who were down to ten for the entire second half at San Siro, after a very controversial second yellow for Pierre Kalulu. It took a brilliant winner from Piotr Zieliński to win the game and send Inter eight points clear of the top, thanks to Napoli's draw with Roma. In the middle of all that, there's a big detour about manager's first touches and player showboating (17:39), before chatting about Igor Tudor becoming the Tottenham Hotspur men's interim head coach (34:53). Finally, there's a round-up (45:33) featuring La Liga, Bundesliga, FA Cup, a rare case of a spiritually onside goal actually counting and Mo Salah doing his bit for content. As mentioned, Scouted have launched the first edition of their new digital magazine and are giving Stadio listeners a month's full access to their site (including the new issue) for just £2! Steve Cohen shut the door on the idea of a New York Mets captain, but comments from Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto about last year's clubhouse raise even bigger questions. Is there truly no need for a captain… or is it exactly what this team lacks? Lindor insists the clubhouse was united and focused on winning, while Soto's blunt remarks about “drama” suggest something very different may have been happening behind the scenes. From chemistry questions to roster turnover to lingering rumors about tension, the conversation dives into what really went wrong and whether it actually mattered on the field. Was the Mets' disappointing season about pitching and performance… or something deeper inside the room?
Conversation with Gemini You said podcast title and description for this segment: 00;00;00;00 - 00;00;07;02 Unknown Steve Cohen made it very clear there will never be a captain of the New York Mets as long as he owns the team. 00;00;07;05 - 00;00;32;13 Unknown And I said, hold that thought, because at 11:00, I want you to hear from both Lindor and Soto and maybe, maybe, maybe not. That comment from Cohen will make more sense, right? Because I listen to everything Lindor and Soto said over the weekend. And they sound very different. They are painting very, very different pictures right. So before I provide any more comment, let's hear from these guys. 00;00;32;19 - 00;00;56;08 Unknown Let's start with Francisco Lindor, who was asked a very simple question. Hey, what's up with the locker room? Francisco? There's been questions this offseason about chemistry on the on the team and in the clubhouse. Can you address that as far as guys getting along and and pulling for each other? Yeah I mean we've always proved for each other, we always wanted what's best for each other. 00;00;56;10 - 00;01;15;23 Unknown We all best friends that that's not how it works in the clubhouse. But we are friends. We're good teammates. We, care for each other. We love for each other. We love each other. And we want the best for each other, you know? And we have a lot of new faces here that, guys seemed like they're going to work hard and they're going to do whatever it takes to win. 00;01;15;24 - 00;01;33;18 Unknown You know, to me, that's what it comes down to is all about winning. And everybody pulling in the same direction. So he gives us the typical not all best friends, but we're friends. Yeah. Oh good. What's his by the way any clubhouse or locker room. Yeah. You don't have to be best friends with everybody. But just you have to be able to get along and work together. 00;01;33;18 - 00;01;53;08 Unknown And he makes clear that they did. Right. And so that there really doesn't appear to be any issues, according to Lindor about last year's locker room. Now, let's hear from one Soto first. Hey, one, what's your relationship like with Francisco Lindor? Because we heard so much about, hey, maybe those two don't get along. One how would you describe your relationship with Francisco Lindor? 00;01;53;10 - 00;02;16;06 Unknown I think it's a great relationship. We talk all the time in the game and everything. We help each other very quick answer, but to the point and like, yeah, it's all great. So so far everything is good, right? This is where things get a little murky. Soto is now asked about the locker room. Carlos, when those ads describe the clubhouse last year is maybe getting a little bit too corporate at times. 00;02;16;08 - 00;02;39;24 Unknown What was your perception of it? As in the past, we forget about it. We focus in 2026, focusing on 2026. How could you maybe prevent that from happening this time around? Have fun. Forget about all the drama and everything. Focus on the game and wins on ball games. Whoa. I mean, when you said forget about all the drama, right? 00;02;39;26 - 00;02;59;23 Unknown Isn't he confirming talking about. He's confirming that was drama. Well, he's but not necessarily will endure. No, I think I agree with you. I think that's what people wanted and immediately think about. But I think it was other drama, in fact, not even drama with him. I think it was drama that he was witnessing. Yeah, I think it has nothing to do with Lindor, honestly, because think about this. 00;02;59;23 - 00;03;17;03 Unknown Juan Soto gave you in those three answers, like pretty straightforwardness. There he is, though. Yeah, he's no beat around the bush. He's not going to fluff it up. He's going to tell you exactly what he thinks. So there were issues. I'm not going to talk about the drama that's in the past and let's just win games. Yet. When asked about Lindor, oh, it's all good. 00;03;17;05 - 00;0 ...

Dumb Bleep of the Week (Part 2): Epstein Files Spin, Tariff "Emergency" Tricks, SAVE Act Drama, and Surveillance Ads Nate and Chuck host Part 2 of "Dumb Bleep of the Week," reacting to several political and cultural stories. They revisit the Epstein/Massie/Pam Bondi discourse, criticizing a MAGA post claiming the "full Epstein files" were released, noting the DOJ has released 3.5 million of roughly 6 million pages and discussing controversy over unredacting names of innocent people. They mock the idea of an "Epstein list" as merely a database of any name appearing in documents and point out both Thomas Massey and online personalities like "cat turd" appear for non-incriminating reasons. They then cover House maneuvering around Trump's tariffs and the National Emergencies Act, highlighting a GOP effort to redefine "calendar days" so Congress can avoid the required 15-day vote to terminate an emergency. Next, they discuss claims that Massie voted against advancing the SAVE Act, explaining he opposed a rule package that also suspended the 24-hour notice requirement for spending bills; they note Massie later voted for the SAVE Act itself. They critique Rep. Susie Lee's video opposing the SAVE Act and discuss broader ID/citizenship and election trust arguments. Other segments include Ilhan Omar's Epstein-related jab at Trump and commentary about Somalia's laws; Los Angeles halting street repaving to avoid triggering Measure HLA's mandatory bike-lane and "road diet" requirements; California's "jock tax," including reporting that Sam Darnold could net a loss after winning a Super Bowl bonus due to duty-day taxation; a Maryland squatter story involving a $2.3 million home; and a New York clip of a speaker advocating taxing millionaires and even making it illegal for them to leave. They close with criticism of Ring's Super Bowl ad promoting AI-powered neighborhood camera searches for lost pets and mention Ring canceling its partnership with Flock Safety amid backlash. The live group's vote names Pam Bondi as the week's winner, and the hosts plug Friday's episode, subscriptions, reviews, merch, sponsors, and the Fed Haters Club. 00:00 Welcome to Good Morning Liberty + Presidents' Day banter 02:32 Epstein files 'release' claims & what's still being withheld 07:46 Unredactions, innocent names, and shifting narratives on 'transparency' 11:14 The 'Epstein list' confusion: searchable names, grifters, and gotchas 13:33 Laura Ingraham vs. Massie: blocking tariff votes by redefining 'days' 17:47 SAVE Act procedural trap: voting on a rule vs. voting on the bill 24:26 Susie Lee's SAVE Act warning + the real voter ID/citizenship debate 32:45 Why election trust matters (even for libertarians) 33:38 Next up: Ilhan Omar fires back over Epstein accusations 34:07 Somalia's "Execute Pedophiles" Claim vs. Child Marriage Reality Check 36:32 LA's Street Repaving Freeze: Measure HLA, Bike Lanes, and Legal Traps 39:44 Slurry Seal Loopholes & the 'Redefining Words' Problem in Law 43:04 California's 'Jock Tax': How a Super Bowl Bonus Turns Into a Net Loss 48:14 Squatters in a $2.3M Mansion: Bethesda Case and Property Rights Breakdown 54:03 New York's 'Make It Illegal to Leave': Taxing Millionaires and Seizing Businesses 01:01:08 Ring's 'Search Party' Super Bowl Ad: AI Surveillance for Lost Dogs (and Cops) 01:07:25 Backlash & Wrap-Up: Ring Drops Flock Safety, Poll Winner, and Final Plugs

Equipped – Part 4: Equipped for Forgiveness Spiritual maturity isn't proven when everything is smooth — it shows up when there's tension in the room. Forgiveness is the key ingredient to reconciliation. Drama destroys, but reconciliation rebuilds. Every time we choose to forgive, we wear down bitterness and make room for peace, love, and freedom. Be equipped. Choose reconciliation. Walk in forgiveness. Want more information about Transformation Church Seminole? We watched the 2024 film from Baltasar Kormákur, Touch.Sometimes love doesn't work out how it's idealized in the things we read and watch. Sometimes we can live a picture perfect romance story. Other times, our great loves can disappear seemingly forever. What we can do is always look and fight for the people we love and who love us back. Our movie this week teaches us that one moment doesn't have to be forever.(Recorded on November 17, 2025)Links to Stuff We Mentioned:Touch - The Movie Database (TMDB)Touch trailer - YouTubeEgill Ólafsson — The Movie Database (TMDB)Mitsuki Kimura — The Movie Database (TMDB)Pálmi Kormákur Baltasarsson — The Movie Database (TMDB)Masahiro Motoki — The Movie Database (TMDB)Yoko Narahashi — The Movie Database (TMDB)We Live in Time (2024) — The Movie Database (TMDB)Follow Us:Give us a rating and review on Apple Podcasts!Sean's Letterboxd profile!Steven's Letterboxd profile! Our Buzzsprout site! Our Instagram profile!Support the show

The Go Radio Football Show: 16th of February 2026. PLAY and HIT SUBSCRIBE, and NEVER miss an episode! Paul Cooney, Charlie Mulgrew and Barry Ferguson break down one of the most unpredictable title races in years. Scottish football delivered pure chaos this weekend, and the panel dive straight into it. Celtic somehow claw back from 2–0 down at Rugby Park to win it in the 97th minute — “there's some spirit in this team” as Martin O'Neill puts it. Rangers then answer the call at Ibrox, coming from behind twice to beat league‑leaders Hearts 4–2, with Chermiti silencing critics with a hat‑trick. Motherwell's remarkable run continues, tightening the title race even further. With just three points separating Hearts, Rangers and Celtic, the lads debate who's really got the mentality to go the distance. Celtic's Late‑Late Show Down 2–0 at half‑time, O'Neill calls the first‑half “sloppy” and makes bold changes. Panel debate whether Celtic can keep relying on late goals. Rangers Bring the Thunder Back Ibrox atmosphere described as “bouncing from first minute to last.” Chermiti's hat‑trick changes the narrative around him. Danny Rohl praised for tactical tweaks and squad management. Motherwell: The Great Disruptors “Best footballing team in the league,” says Charlie. Their form means they'll shape the title race even if they don't win it. Hearts: Contenders or Pretenders? Questions over sustainability: low shots on target, reliance on moments. Injuries to key players loom large. Caller Fireworks Debate over Rangers' mentality at Motherwell. John Souttar's defending under the microscope. Celtic fans worried about fatigue, midfield depth, and Hattate's form. Manager Soundbites O'Neill: “We can't keep doing this every week.” Rohl: “We are in the middle of the race — and we are ready.” McInnes: “We put a lot into the game.” Follow us @thisisgoradio on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Tik Tok The Go Radio Football Show, weeknights from 5pm-7pm across Scotland on DAB, YouTube, Smart Speaker - launch Go Radio - and on the Go Radio App. IOS: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/go-radio/id1510971202 Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.thisisgo.goradio&pcampaignid=web_share In Association with Burger King.
