At just 19 years of age, Daniela Fernandez found herself sitting in a United Nations chamber listening to a myriad of scary statistics regarding the likely fate of our ocean planet. Two things quickly became apparent to her. First, she noticed she was the ONLY young voice in the room, the only young person in the conversation. Second, while there was a great deal of fear being projected, there was very little talk in terms of hope, inspirational dialogue or innovative solutions. So as legend goes, she decided to start the Sustainable Ocean Alliance from her Georgetown University dorm room, which in only 6 short years has become the largest network of young Ocean Leaders in the world with more than 5,000 participants in over 165 countries.  She is now CEO. Daniela has been recognized for her work by former US Sec'y of State and current US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, John Kerry and former US President Bill Clinton. She also received accolades with a Peter Benchley Ocean Youth Award, named one of Glamour magazine's College Women of the Year, and was selected as a Forbes 30 Under 30 Social Entrepreneur, and has spoken on countless stages, including the Economist World Ocean Summit and Global Climate Summit.  LEARN MORE ABOUT DANIELA FERNANDEZ AND SUSTAINABLE OCEAN ALLIANCE here:    Follow Daniela on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dvfernandez/ Follow SOA on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/soalliance/ Check out the SOA Website: https://www.soalliance.org/ SOA Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SustainableOceanAlliance Connect with Daniela on Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dvfernandez Follow Daniela on Twitter: https://twitter.com/dvfernandez1?lang=en SOA on Twitter: https://twitter.com/soalliance SOA Who We Are: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwZHhuprYI4 Rising Star Award: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSxOlqrgYw8 Nat Geo Encounter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sH8AVsLl9rI   Youth Voices: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1yxHb2-P1E SOA Blue New Deal: https://www.soalliance.org/blue-new-deal SOA Leadership: https://www.soalliance.org/leadership   “I came across the greatest victim and potential savior of our planet.
