They're on Day 2...or was it Day 3? We can't keep track because these dragon boats are doing circles around us. Shout out to the USA U18 team for being World Champions in the 1000m! Prince William and his new wife went head to head in a friendly dragonboat race in their summer 2011 tour of Canada and Belief Radio had the chance to talk exclusively with Mike Haslam, the Executive President of the International Dragonboat Federation (IDBF) who is also the President and CEO of the British Dragonboat Association (BDA). Dragonboating is an ancient sacred sport with its origins in China dating back over 2,000 years and is one of the fastest growing sports in the world today. When the Royal couple were asked which activity they would like to participate in during some leisure time in Canada, they opted to have a paddle in a dragonboat with local teams. In this interesting interview with Mike, Belief Radio producers Phil Keeler and Rich Smith (who has himself competed in the sport at world championship level), explore the history of dragonboating, the development of the sport internationally and its universal appeal to people of all abilities and ages. Sport can have a really positive impact upon people's mental states and attitudes crossing over into many aspects of life in really amazing ways. Belief Radio, with its sister organisation Belief Sport (see www.beliefsport.com), is all about promoting positive stories, transferring life skills and inspiring people around the world to go for their dreams. Maybe it is time to experience the power of the dragon for yourself? Whatever you do, believe in yourself and live memorably.
