Jacob is the congregational leader of Congregation Rebirth in North Orlando ( Longwood), Florida. He was once living in pursuit of his own desire and  Messiah Yeshua revealed His power and grace to him in 2009. Dr. Bill Ahearn joins me in Session 299 of Behavioral Observation. I met Bill a few times at conferences and I'm so glad we finally had a chance to sit down and record a podcast together. Bill is the Director of Research at The New England Center for Children. A federal judge just slammed the brakes on President Donald Trump's use of wartime powers to fast-track deportations. In a major legal blow to the administration, Judge Fernando Rodriguez Jr., a Trump appointee, ruled that Trump overstepped his authority by using the Alien Enemies Act, an 18th-century wartime law, to deport Venezuelan migrants from South Texas. The ruling permanently bars this maneuver, calling the administration's justification—an alleged gang invasion—unsupported and unlawful. The Alien Enemies Act, enacted in 1798 during fears of a European war, allows deportations of citizens from enemy nations during declared wars. But the problem is, the United States is not at war with Venezuela. Rodriguez wrote flat out that the president cannot simply declare an invasion, sidestep immigration courts and throw people out of the country. More than 130 migrants had already been expelled under the scheme before the courts intervened. Comparing 1996's FROM DUSK TILL DAWN to the new SINNERS can feel a bit like, as Scott puts it, comparing “Chopsticks” to Beethoven's Fifth. But Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's sleazy vampire flick was clearly on Ryan Coogler's mind when crafting his own film about a pair of brothers who spend one fateful night defending a nightclub from an invading horde of the undead.
