Daniel R. Diodati, a fourth generation Hillie, is competing with Veronica A. Rodriguez, also a Haverhill native, to represent Ward 2 on the Haverhill City Council in January. The winner replaces Katrina Hobbs Everett who chose not to run again.Diodati manages Berkshire Hathaway real estate offices in Haverhill. Rodriquez works for the Lawrence office of the state Department of Children and Families. Each recently appeared on WHAV's morning show and answered six questions on challenging issues in the city. Here are their answers in the order their names appear on the ballot. Why do you want to serve on City Council?“With the skills that I have I really feel like I can contribute and I thought it was time to throw my hat in the ring. The reason is civic engagement being so low, it was time for someone like myself to step up and try to make a difference.” Diodati said.“I love Haverhill first of all and, lately, it's been in the news for some of the wrong things. I don't think you can complain if you don't try to make a difference so that's why I want to serve,” Rodriguez said. There is a perception Haverhill is building too much housing. Do you agree?“I do think there could be a smarter way to develop residential housing if we really look at homeownership. Homeownership is super, super important in any community,” Diodati said.“I think that we should fix the places that we have that are abandoned first. I think we need to get more creative because all that housing is going to bring a lot traffic, it is going to bring other problems. So, we need to maybe think outside of the box to help because we do have a housing crisis,” Rodriguez said. What can the City Council do to promote more affordable housing?“Between homeownership, development of new construction that is based on owner-occupied projects, mixed in with ADU (accessory dwelling unit) use, I think it is a great start. And, things are in motion to do that. I just hope to simplify things and make it a little bit better,” Diodati said.“We do have a housing trust but there's no money in it. I think maybe if some of these new developments, we should maybe make them pay into that so we do have some funds so we can think of some projects we can do for affordable housing,” Rodriguez said. The death of Francis P. Gigliotti II while in police custody and the death of Officer Katelyn M. Tully have left the public looking for answers, especially in light of changes at the top of the police department. Do you think the public has the right to know more and how quickly and what types of information do you think is properly withheld?“Just to have a little bit more transparency in the process and how it is messaged to the public whether it be through an actually press conference, not necessarily through just making social media posts, etc. If there is no news to report, then report that there is no news to report,” Diodati said.“I think they did a good job informing the public. They put it out there right away. I do think that out of respect for her family, the cause of death and those types of things should be kept private just out of respect. I think they should be transparent. The public is what put them in. We pay for their jobs so we definitely need to know what's going on. We need to know,” Rodriguez said.Do you believe residential property taxes are too low, too high or about right?“Too high. Because mindset is everything to me. And I do think we act upon on our thoughts. As long as we are controlling in our head that taxes are too high, we are going to work to keep them as low as possible,” Diodati said.“When I am paying them, I think they are too high but when I compare them to other cities, they're not so high.” Rodriguez said. What specifSupport the show

Welcome back to the Vikings Postgame Report presented by Lumen - The trusted network of A.I. The Minnesota Vikings defeated the Detroit Lions 27-24 in the "Motor City" on Sunday. The Vikings got contributions from all phases of the game today: Offense, Defense, and Special Teams. Quarterback J.J. McCarthy returned for his first game since Week 2 and helped secure the victory.  McCarthy ended the game completing 14-of-25 passing for 143 yards, 2 TD's and an INT.  McCarthy also added 12 yards on the ground, including a 9-yard TD run in the 3rd Quarter. Running Back Aaron Jones Sr. led the running game with 9 carries for 78 yards. Wide Receiver Jordan Addison led the receiving game with 2 catches for 48 yards. Wide Receiver Justin Jefferson and Tight End T.J. Hockenson both scored receiving touchdowns in the 1st Quarter of the game. Kicker Will Reichard had another perfect day, converting 2 field goals and 3 XP's, including a 50-yard field goal in the 2nd Quarter. Defensively, the guys were flying around and pressured Jared Goff throughout the game. Linebacker Blake Cashman had a monster game, leading the team with 14 tackles and a critical forced fumble in the 3rd Quarter that was recovered by Safety Harrison Smith. Linebacker Eric Wilson led the team with 2 sacks and Defensive Tackles Javon Hargrave, Jalen Redmond, and Levi Drake Rodriguez also notched a sack. Rodriguez also had a critical field goal block in the 4th Quarter. Kick Returner Myles Price flipped the field all day long and amassed 164 return yards for the Vikings. Paul Allen and Pete Bercich breakdown the game, including: the significance of getting the win at Ford Field, the Vikings defense getting healthy and stepping up in a big way, the shot in the arm provided by the return of J.J. McCarthy, and being able to close out on the final drive when you had to have it. Plus, Head Coach Kevin O'Connell and Quarterback J.J. McCarthy's press conferences are all in this edition of the Vikings Postgame Report - presented by Lumen - The trusted network of A.I.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

A mustache may grab the chat, but the story starts with something bigger: a cop-creator wins his badge back. We kick off with Officer Honey Badger's reinstatement and why it matters for transparency, policy, and the growing number of officers trying to educate the public with real footage and real analysis. From there, we sprint into the gear that actually changes outcomes—a two-pound, pocket-friendly AED that talks you through a rescue. Imagine it in every patrol car, every security fleet, even bundled by automakers and supported by insurers. Seconds save lives, and design makes seconds possible. Then the heat turns up. A lieutenant colonel refuses to roll down her window after speeding. We unpack the law you can use in the real world: what Mims allows, what Rodriguez limits, and why “reasonableness” is the backbone of good police work when the stop doesn't neatly end the moment paper hits a hand. We show how roadside transparency—like presenting a dash video on the spot—can defuse arguments and save court time. We also watch sovereign citizen scripts wilt where they always do: inside a courtroom ruled by precedent, not YouTube law.The hardest segment is a use-of-force failure you can't unsee: a taser deployed too close, a gun brought in at contact range, and a life ended without necessity. We call it straight and offer a fix that's bigger than a memo: make grappling competency a prerequisite to the badge. Wrestling, jiu-jitsu, judo—skills that keep you calm under pressure and lower force across the board. It's not about being a tough guy; it's about control, patience, and humility. To remind you why the job matters, we highlight what good looks like. Officers lift an ejected infant from beneath a rolled car and bring her back with CPR. Another cop grabs an extinguisher and smothers a man in flames, then coaches his breathing until fire arrives. A domestic with a knife turns on seconds: a door is breached, the victim and suspect are separated in a sentence, and lifesaving care follows. In the final week of the series, we will get very practical about how we as individuals can respond to God's call during this divisive time. As we will see, Paul sets a high bar for his readers in Colossae. First, to “set your minds on things above” – to live in such a way that our minds are laser focused on the things God cares about. Second, to “put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you,” to be deeply intentional about the sin and idolatry within each of us which seeks to corrupt our trust in Christ. Finally, to “clothe yourself” in things like compassion, kindness, humility, and, most of all, love. Put simply, we each have a choice of how we respond in this cultural moment. We can choose what we think about, what we reject, and what we “wear” as we live out our faith. Let us all keep our eyes focused on Christ and his powerful resurrection. May we become people of love and mercy as we take his hand and follow him into the kingdom of God. Possible Response Element: Give everyone time to write some kind of commitment on a card based on the invitations from the passage. Perhaps they could bring them to the front, to be prayed over by the pastors, and then to be passed out to the congregation as people leave to pray over the commitments of others

The band's sixth album "Creature In The Black Night" is, according to Rodriguez, their darkest work yet. And even though it has a central "horror" theme, that wasn't the plan when they started working on it. Rory talks about having a secret weapon in producer Daniel Braunstein who he says is "like having a fifth member of the band." And, we get an answer on what he means when he says the band plays "sad rock." As we continue exploring Colossians, we will dig deeper into the mixing (a.k.a. “syncretism”) which is happening in the church today between the gospel of Jesus and the powers of this world. We will specifically explore the god of Domination and the god of Self, which have so infected our body with “empty philosophies” and “high-sounding nonsense.” To untangle their influence over us, we will explore what it means for Christ to have “disarmed the rulers and authorities” of our world, and what it looks like for us to reject their influence in our own lives. By repenting of our syncretism and re-focusing on Christ above all, we may yet find a way to live in this broken world set free from the powers seeking to corrupt the gospel.
