Representative Elaine Price — whose district includes three of the victims' hometowns — co-sponsored it, saying: "Victims should not feel continually victimized."The numbers are infuriating. Kohberger owes over $300,000 in fines and fees. Restitution to the families totals about $32,000. While awaiting trial, he received more than $28,000 in donations to his jail account. Meanwhile, the Goncalves and Mogen families were left arguing in court over who should pay for their daughters' urns — a dispute over roughly $3,000.Idaho's current law was written in 1978. It doesn't mention podcasts. It doesn't mention streaming platforms. It doesn't account for social media monetization or ongoing royalties. After both Renée Good and Alex Pretti were shot and killed by Department of Homeland Security officers in Minneapolis this month, the story from the agency's secretary, Kristi L. Noem, was that these individuals' intentions represented acts of domestic terrorism. Confirmed as DHS secretary a year ago under President Trump, Noem has been one of the most visible defenders of Trump's immigration agenda, executing a sprawling deportation campaign and backing the increasingly aggressive tactics of Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers and Customs and Border Patrol agents, which fall under her purview. Over several months, ICE and CBP officers have been fanning out across Democratic-run cities — entering neighborhoods and homes to make arrests, aggressively spraying protesters with tear gas, and even detaining U.S. citizens. Federal officers have been involved in 16 shootings since July and have killed three people, including two U.S. citizens. Yet this sweeping immigration agenda and the consequent actions by federal officers were not part of the original mission of DHS. Today, immigration reporter Marianne Levine discusses how former South Dakota governor Kristi Noem has transformed DHS and what that could mean for its future. As OB healthcare providers, we have several pieces of guidance regarding determination of amniotic fluid volume antepartum. The SMFM has Consult Series #46 (2018), which describes the management of polyhydramnios. We'll touch on that in this episode. However, while we have clear understanding of the increased risks of oligohydramnios, where an MVP is preferred for diagnosis over AFI, we have less information about polyhydramnios. But a new study published in BJOG (January 2026) provides more insights on this. While MVP is preferred for oligo diagnosis, can the same be said for polyhydramnios? Is there an increased risk in perinatal morbidity with polyhydramnios, and is that better detected by MVP or AFI? The Brendan Banfield murder trial begins today in Fairfax County, Virginia — and before testimony even starts, this case has problems. Retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer joins True Crime Today to examine an investigation that's already under fire. Here's what we know: Officer Brendan Miller, the department's digital forensics expert, analyzed 60 devices and concluded Christine Banfield controlled the FetLife account — not her husband Brendan. His work was peer-reviewed by the University of Alabama. Confirmed. Then he was transferred out of the digital forensics unit. According to testimony, Deputy Chief Brusch told him he'd never work another case like this. The lead homicide detective who questioned the catfishing theory was also reassigned. Prosecutor Eric Clingan admitted there were 24 different theories among 12 detectives until the au pair gave her proffer. The child's forensic interview was excluded from evidence. And Clingan himself was removed after being found drinking at 8 a.m. Coffindaffer has spent her career building federal cases. She knows what solid police work looks like and what confirmation bias looks like. In this interview, she breaks down the timeline, the evidence collection gaps, and what the FBI would have done differently. Once again: law enforcement rules apply, not IHL. 5. Sinking a stateless vessel is not prohibited by UNCLOS. UNCLOS permits seizure of a stateless vessel and leaves the means entirely to the enforcing state so long as necessity and proportionality are respected. If the vessel flees, attacks, or refuses lawful commands, sinking it is legally permissible.
