In today's episode of Powerboat Talk, we welcome back Jet Pump and Drag Boat Racing expert Greg Shoemaker, owner of G.S. Marine. Shoemaker spent his most formidable years in the performance boating industry working for Eliminator Boats where he helped develop and popularize their 19 ft, Daytona through his very successful drag racing exploits.  In the episode, Shoemaker answers some questions about basic jet pump operation and provides input on some simple “do's and don'ts” that are often misunderstood by today's jet boaters.  Shoemaker shares the story behind the 130 mph flip of his and partner Norm Grimes's “Dash for Cash” Daytona as well as the first time he “got wet” driving “Underdog,” his original record setting Daytona. Shoemaker also shared some stories about his many years of writing Jet Tech columns and testing boats for Hot Boat, Performance Boats, and Speedboat magazines.  You can follow Greg Shoemaker on Instagram @gs_marine_inc and on Facebook at @G.S. Ross Wallach is the Owner and President of RPM Racing Enterprises and is the main man behind West Coast circle boat racing where he is the race director and promoter. Wallach is the President of the Southern California Speedboat Club (SCSC) which was founded in 1946 and is one of the oldest, remaining, active powerboat clubs in the world and the stewards of the famous Parker Enduro.  Dubbed by Wallach as the “Indy 500 of Powerboat Racing,” the Parker Enduro was first established in 1963 as a nine hour event and has been run for the better part of 60 years. Unfortunately, Wallach was involved in the decision to shut down the financially unsustainable race after the 1999 running.  Wallach was also instrumental in bringing the event back in 2005 with a renewed vigor and re-emphasis on the original pathos of “run what you brung” and a new, unofficial slogan of “no boat left behind.” Over time, the Parker Enduro has evolved from its initial nine-hour setup to a format where participants race for four hours followed by an additional lap. The Enduro utilizes a six mile course over the Parker strip on the Colorado River. The next addition of the Parker Enduro will be start from the BlueWater Resort and Casino in Parker, Arizona on March 28, 2023.

Mitch and I swam at neighbouring clubs once upon a time; however our paths didn't cross until this year, now that we are working together at Life Saving Victoria. In this chat, Mitch takes us through his swimming journey, and how that lead him to the world of lifesaving. We chat about the how competitive pool swimming can help you when out in the ocean rescuing someone, and the link between tumble turns and waves, if you're puzzled don't worry, Mitch gives the best description. Mitch really shows how being involved in the sport of lifesaving can be beneficial for the community, with over 50 lifesaving clubs made up of more than 37,000 members, working together to prevent aquatic related death and injury in all Victorian communities, which I think is pretty special.  As always, you can find all links to things mentioned in the show notes. Sean and Nick are back from Detroit and ready to move past the dud that was the MAC Championship Game, but not before playing the what-if game. Formula One provided a great distraction and a thrilling finish to an incredible season, one chock full of controversy that Sean and Nick discuss and debate. Nick washes down Red Bull's triumph with none other than the brand's signature energy drink before the two move to NFL and stick forks in a few teams. Hate It or Love It involves an out-of-towner in a Costco line.

I sat in the kitchen of Mike Holland, a small town man with an adventurous spirit, and a heart as big as the whole world. His love of his family, his pride in his heritage, and the legacy he keeps alive of his beautiful grandmother, are all things that make Mike, a loving human being. Having worked with AT&T for 21 years now, Mike spent many of those years also volunteering with a group associated with his job called Pioneers Volunteer. His volunteerism has taken him all over and brought him such joy, just to help another fellow human in the midst of crisis. He has also helped with the Ronald MacDonald House Charities. The fun part of working with AT&T has been all the great people Mike has met. He joined a dragon boat team for both a domestic team, as well as an international team. You can check them out on Facebook or the website by clicking here .This interview was so wonderful, and I had such a great time chatting with him. If you like the content I'm putting out, please SUBSRIBE, RATE, and REVIEW the podcast so it will be easier for others to find it.Also, I wrote a book called, AFTER THE FIRE, about the 2015 Valley Fire that burned more than 1,000 homes in Lake County, California. It's a romance novel about a contractor that comes to aid in the clean up efforts, falls in love with the community and it's people, as well as a local girl. You can get a copy here .And if you would like to read more of my process in self publishing that novel, please go to my website: pattidienerwrites.com  and you can see all my interviews I did for the book, as well as learn all about what was happening in Lake County then. There is a page to buy my book from there as well.Lastly, if you like romance, travel, and food... then check out my blog called: romancetravelandfood.com. I have lots of places I recommend to travel to, things to do with your loved one, and restaurants, as well as recipes. I think you will enjoy it.Thank you so much for spending time with me and listening to the podcast. In the opening take, Lee has high praise for OU's wide receiving duo -- and disdain for Sports Illustrated. Then, Grant joins to discuss the ramifications of the Rodney Anderson injury (4:55). Despite scoring 49 points on Saturday, didn't the OU offense look a little off against UCLA (15:00)? Lee thinks you could really sense the absence of Baker Mayfield on Saturday and Kyler Murray was off at times (18:00). At the same time, Kyler made some plays that only a high level QB could make (22:30). Grant wants to give credit to a few UCLA defenders that stood out to him (26:30). It's clear that CeeDee Lamb and Marquise Brown are the best WR duo in college football (29:15). OU's defense was very good against UCLA -- outside of one huge play (33:20). Mike Stoops called another really good game on Saturday (36:30). Bookie didn't jump off the screen as much as FAU, but he still played well (41:25). Lee loved one Curtis Bolton sack in particular because of the design of the defense (44:10). Kenneth Murray took a huge step forward Saturday (47:10). Hello special teams (49:45)!
