Andy and Brendan are finally both back home from a week-plus on Long Island (home of the worst fans in golf? PJ defends here!) and ready to get to the week-to-week grind of the PGA Tour. That Tour dropped some expected bombshell news from the Travelers Championship, where the new track 1 and track 2 structural changes were officially announced by Brian Rolapp, who is now also commissioner in addition to CEO. They debate the merits of the new Tour, with multiple “series” --- Challengers and Championships -- within it. How will the Tour Championship look if match play is brought into the fold? Are places like Cypress Point and Pine Valley ACTUALLY on the table as a host? Which events are making it into this Championship Series and what courses in some of these big markets might host new events. They have a wide ranging discussion and reaction to all the news outlined in the Tour’s big announcement. Schedule for the Week gets into the Travelers Championship and its own issues, before moving to Women’s PGA, the Champions Tour, which might have lost its branding, and the DP World Tour, which also had a rough day with the new details from Connecticut. Lastly, PJ Clark defends Long Island golf fans against the avalanche of takes this week that the island can no longer host major men’s golf because of their behavior. This week, Richard Graves is joined by Anna Cruse, Assistant Athletics Director for Applied Health and Performance Science and Director of Football Performance Science at the University of Utah. Anna's route into sports science began as an international-level rower. Her interest in training, performance and data eventually took her from competing for the United States to helping develop the systems that support athletes across 19 sports at Utah. In this episode, Anna explains how Utah has moved from manual data exports and generalised reporting to faster, integrated workflows that deliver relevant information to coaches and practitioners. She discusses why collecting more data is not always the answer, the importance of educating decision-makers and how greater context can prevent practitioners from drawing the wrong conclusions from a metric. The conversation also explores individual athlete baselines, the limitations of fixed asymmetry thresholds and the need to make data specific to the athlete, position and sport. Anna also shares her perspective on artificial intelligence, including where it can improve performance workflows and why it should never replace qualified human judgement. In this episode you will learn How Anna moved from international rowing into applied sports science Why Utah only collects data it can use to support athletes or performance How the university delivers performance information across 19 different sports Why coaches and support staff must understand the context behind every metric How Utah has developed more sport-, position- and athlete-specific reporting Why fixed thresholds can be misleading when assessing asymmetry How integrated performance teams can make better use of limited resources Where AI can support practitioners without replacing their expertise Why athlete welfare must remain central to every performance decision How strong systems create more time for meaningful analysis About Anna Cruse Anna Cruse is Assistant Athletics Director for Applied Health and Performance Science and Director of Football Performance Science at the University of Utah. A former elite lightweight rower, Anna represented the United States at the World Rowing Under-23 Championships before moving into coaching, performance science and data analytics. Her career has included experience with the Philadelphia Union, Penn State and exercise intelligence company Svexa. At Utah, Anna helps lead the systems used to collect, interpret and communicate performance information across the university's athletic programme. Her work focuses on turning data into useful decisions while ensuring that technology and analysis remain grounded in good science and the needs of the individual athlete. Last fall, I traveled to Oman for the World Inclusive Sailing Championships. It was an incredible experience. The inaugural event brought together many of the best adaptive sailors in the world, all competing to be world champion in one of three different classes – the RS venture connect - a two person boat, the Hansa 303 - a one person boat, and the Far East with three visually impaired sailors and three sighted sailors per boat. Beyond the racing and crowning world champions, the event had a larger mission: to showcase the skill, passion, and level of competition of the international parasailing community, in an effort to get sailing back into the Paralympics after it was dropped following the 2016 Rio Games. Over 100 sailors from 36 different countries competed. In addition to enjoying the wonderful warmth of the Omani people, culture, landscape and weather, and mixing it up on the racecourse, my highlight was meeting the other sailors from around the world. In the quiet moments in between racing and exploring, I spoke with three of them to hear their stories.Guest info:@pintobp05Additional Resources:https://www.sailing.org/world-sailing-inclusion-championships/Contact us: Instagram: @unexpectedjourneypodEmail: tim@unexpectedjourneypod.com Hosted and produced by Tim BrownEditing and sound design by Louis ArevaloOriginal theme music by Jesse LaFountaineEpisode cover art by Lewis Falconer Cover art and logo design by Anne Holt and Lewis Falconer

The world seems obsessed with America right now—but Americans themselves may not be getting the memo.On this episode of The Treehouse Show, we dive into the strange contrast happening across social media. Foreign tourists are posting videos celebrating American food, road trips, sports, and culture. Japanese baseball fans are famously cleaning up stadiums after games, while back here at home, some fans celebrated the New York Knicks championship by fighting, rioting, and even shooting each other. What gives? Why do outsiders seem to appreciate America more than Americans do?We also jump into today's celebrity birthdays, which somehow leads us down a rabbit hole celebrating the greatness of Karl Urban. From The Boys to Lord of the Rings and Dredd, is Karl Urban one of the most underrated actors working today?Plus:

Disclaimer: Both Chris and Kyle were watching the Knicks when multiple big track performances happened, so some of the detail recall is shakier than usual. No regrets.Discussed in this episode:– Knicks NBA Champions: Chris and Kyle grew up as New York sports fans, and CITIUS MAG as a company exists in part because the two bonded over the Yankees and Knicks.– Cooper Lutkenhaus beats Emmanuel Wanyoni in Oslo, 1:42.08: Photo finish — 1:42.08 to 1:42.09. World lead. Personal best. At 17 years old, he has now beaten the Olympic gold medalist and the Olympic silver medalist in the same 2026 season. His 2026 unbeaten record: six finals, six wins. – Ja'Kobe Tharp, 12.75 world record (110m hurdles prelim): The least surprising collegiate record of the weekend — it was coming — but the world record was genuinely shocking.– Adaejah Hodge, 10.63 (+1.9) in the 100m prelim: Breaks Sha'Carri Richardson's collegiate record of 10.75. Moves to #5 all-time globally, behind only Flo-Jo, Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, and Melissa Jefferson-Wooden. Also runs 21.68 in the 200 final for the collegiate record (breaks Abby Steiner's 21.8 from 2022).– Habtom Samuel, 5K/10K double: Light work. His kick is on another level from the current NCAA field. Marco Langon made a brave move at 400 to go and was humbled for it — not his fault, it's just that Haptam had a whole other gear.– Jaiden Reed, 19.63 (200m): Breaks Walter Dix's NCAA record that had stood since 2007. Most surprising record of the weekend.– Simeon Birnbaum, 3:36.05 (1500m): Second place was 1.13 seconds behind. Wire to wire. He broke the 25-year curse: no athlete who broke the NCAA mile or 1500 record had also won the title that same year. Birnbaum did both. Kyle gives his hypothetical 2026 World Championships team if one existed.– Jane Hedengren: Third in the 10K, ninth in the 5K — after being bedridden with illness all week, disclosed after her 10K race.– LA Grand Prix | Parker Valby wins the 5K in 14:39, a 10-second personal best from her 14:49 opener three weeks ago. She's now ninth on the US all-time list, ahead of Molly Huddle and Jane Hedengren. We set the over/under on 14:27.5 for this season.– Looking ahead: Ostrava on June 16th (Noah Lyles vs. Gout Gout in the 150, Tebogo vs. Gout Gout in the 200 — the more interesting race). Send us Fan MailThe MZ Farms/USHJA Emerging Athletes Program (EAP) is a development initiative run by the U.S. Hunter Jumper Association to help up-and-coming riders build both their riding skills and their horsemanship knowledge. Created in 2009, the program has become a launching pad for many riders who've gone on to succeed in major equitation and jumper finals, including the USEF Show Jumping Talent Search, the ASPCA Maclay, and USEF Prix des States, among others. The program is open to junior, amateur, and professional members ages 12 and older as of December 1 of the current competition year, with sections offered at 0.90-meter and 1.0-meter fence heights. To apply, riders must meet eligibility requirements, submit an application and fee, gather recommendation forms, and pass a Horsemanship Quiz Challenge with a score of at least 80%. Riders accepted into the program begin with a five-day Regional Training Session, where they work directly with top riding clinicians and stable managers on flatwork, gymnastics, related distances, course work, and a full stable-management curriculum covering grooming, horsemanship, and barn management. Participants bring and care for their own horses throughout the session. From there, 16 riders are selected to advance to the National Training Session, chosen based on their performance and potential during the regional sessions, with eligibility limited to members ages 12 to 25. A select group of standout non-riders may also be invited to attend as stable managers. The national session is a multi-day intensive held with top clinicians — for 2026, that's Joe Fargis for riding and Colleen Reed for stable management, hosted at Midway University in Kentucky. Financial support is also part of the program: the USHJA Foundation awards up to $6,000 total in grants to help offset costs for EAP participants, with individual grants capped at $500. EAP combines hands-on riding instruction with serious horsemanship education, aiming to produce well-rounded equestrians — not just skilled riders, but knowledgeable horsemen and women who understand every aspect of caring for their horses.-- The USHJA Zone Jumper Championships are a series of regional team and individual competitions for Junior and Amateur jumper riders, held across the USHJA's geographic zones each summer. There are actually a few related programs under this umbrella, organized by fence height. The 1.00/1.05m Junior/Amateur Zone Jumper Championships give riders a competitive team experience and a chance to earn Zone Horse of the Year points in their respective sections, with championships held by zone consisting of both team and individual competition. To qualify, riders submit an application and must accumulate at least 20 points in their section at USEF-licensed competitions during the qualifying period. At the higher end, the Markel/USHJA Zone Jumper Team Championships serve Junior and Amateur Jumper riders in the 1.10/1.15m and 1.20/1.25m divisions, while the related Platinum Jumper Championships cover even higher sections. Competitors in these championships are considered USHJA Emerging Jumper Riders for that year and have the opportunity to earn the title of USHJA Gold Star Emerging Jumper Rider, along with a spot at a USHJA Gold Star Clinic. For 2026, the championships are organized regionally — Northeast (Zones 1-2), South (Zones 3, 4, 7), North Central (Zones 5-6), and West (Zones 8-10) — each hosted at a different venue, with riders from Zones 11 and 12 free to choose whichever championship location they'd like to attend. New this year, jump-offs will be used to break ties for Individual and Team Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals. To enter, riders must submit an application with a $75 non-refundable fee and earn at least 20 qualifying points in their section at USEF-licensed shows before their zone's deadline. Submitting an application doesn't commit a rider to attend, but it does let their points count toward qualification. Individual medalists also earn a notable perk: an invitation to a USHJA Gold Star Clinic of their choice within two years, offering four days of mounted and unmounted instruction from leading clinicians. Altogether, the Zone Jumper Championships give developing jumper riders a structured path toward team competition experience, individual recognition, and continued mentorship — bridging the gap between regular show circuit competition and higher-performance opportunities.theplaidhorse.comThank you so much for joining us today on the Plaidcast. I will see you at the ring!

What if the Lions ever won the Super Bowl?
In today's conversation, I speak with Jaiden Reid of the LSU, who is coming off an amazing showing at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships where he won the 200m title in a time of 19.63 seconds, taking down the almost 20 year old record set by Walter Dix. Reid also finished 2nd place in the 100m with a windy time of 9.82 seconds.Jaiden has been a rising athlete in the NCAA for a few years while at LSU having been an indoor and outdoor all American in the 100, 200 and 4x100 in previous years. But 2026 was a huge breakthrough that saw him become not only the NCAA champion and record holder, but also one of the fastest athletes of all-time with his 19.63, a mark he couldn't even believe he ran.In our conversation, we do a full breakdown of his NCAA Championship races including the 100m and 200m finals, as well as his mindset and progress throughout the year leading up to the Championships. He also discusses becoming one of the top athletes in his home of the Cayman Islands, and eventually attending Jamaica College in Kingston for high school. Finally, Jaiden addresses the conversation around all the fast times at the NCAA champs and how young athletes like himself will continue to get better and are ready to take over the top spots globally.-------------------------------------------

Ben Shelton continued his breakout 2026 season by winning the Stuttgart grass-court title, defeating fellow American Taylor Fritz 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 in the final. It was Shelton's first ATP title on grass and his third trophy of the season after earlier successes on hard courts and clay. The title run was anything but straightforward. Shelton survived multiple three-set battles during the week, including a dramatic semifinal victory over Jiří Lehečka in which he saved two match points before prevailing in a final-set tiebreak. With Wimbledon approaching, Shelton's ability to win on all three major surfaces has elevated him into the group of genuine contenders for a deep run in London. Kamil Majchrzak completed a dream week in 's-Hertogenbosch by claiming the first ATP Tour title of his career. The Pole's run included victories over top players, highlighted by wins against Felix Auger-Aliassime and Daniil Medvedev. Majchrzak reached the final after upsetting Medvedev in straight sets and then completed his remarkable tournament by lifting the trophy, a breakthrough achievement for the 30-year-old. His grass-court form makes him one of the more dangerous unseeded players heading into Wimbledon qualifying and draw discussions. The first week of ATP grass-court action produced two major storylines: Shelton has shown he can transfer his explosive serve and aggressive baseline game to grass, making him a legitimate threat at Wimbledon. Majchrzak's confidence is at a career high after securing his first ATP title and multiple top-level victories. This week's ATP 500 event in Halle serves as one of the strongest Wimbledon tune-ups. Historically, the tournament has favored elite servers and aggressive all-court players. The field is expected to feature many of the tour's leading grass-court performers as they continue preparations for the Championships. Players to watch include: Jannik Sinner, who has been one of the dominant forces of 2026. Ben Shelton, arriving with momentum from Stuttgart. Other Wimbledon contenders looking to fine-tune their grass-court games. The ATP 500 event at Queen's Club traditionally offers one of the clearest indicators of Wimbledon form. The fast conditions reward big serving, aggressive returning, and efficient net play. Key questions entering the week: Can the top contenders quickly adapt from clay to grass? Will a player such as Shelton continue his surge? Which established grass-court specialists will emerge as serious Wimbledon threats? Bottom line: Shelton leaves Stuttgart looking like one of the hottest players on tour, while Majchrzak's maiden ATP title is one of the feel-good stories of the grass season. The spotlight now shifts to Halle and Queen's, where the final pecking order for Wimbledon will begin to take shape. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

WTA Weekly – Queen's Club Review & Berlin/Nottingham Preview Welcome to WTA Weekly. This week, the grass-court season delivered one of its best stories as Donna Vekic completed a remarkable run to win the Queen's Club title in London. Entering the tournament as a lucky loser after falling in qualifying, Vekic took full advantage of her second chance and capped the week with a 6-0, 7-6(6) victory over home favourite Emma Raducanu in the final. Vekic dominated the opening set before Raducanu fought back impressively in the second. The Brit recovered from a difficult start, built a lead, and even held set points, but Vekic's experience on grass proved decisive in a tense tiebreak. The Croatian eventually converted her fifth championship point to secure her first title in several years. Despite the loss, Raducanu leaves Queen's with plenty of positives. After an injury- and illness-disrupted season, she reached the final without dropping a set before Sunday and recorded victories over multiple top players. Her form suggests she could be a dangerous contender during the remainder of the grass swing and at Wimbledon. As for Vekic, the title continues a remarkable turnaround. She only entered the main draw after a late withdrawal created a lucky-loser spot, yet she navigated the field brilliantly and now heads into Wimbledon full of confidence. Looking ahead, attention shifts to the WTA 500 event in Berlin, one of the strongest grass-court tournaments outside Wimbledon. The field is expected to feature many of the tour's top players, making it a crucial test before the Championships. Meanwhile, the WTA event in Nottingham offers another opportunity for players to gain valuable grass-court matches and ranking points. With Wimbledon just around the corner, every match becomes increasingly important as players fine-tune their games for the year's biggest grass-court event. That's all for this week's WTA Weekly. The road to Wimbledon is heating up, and after Vekic's incredible lucky-loser triumph at Queen's, the grass season has already shown that anything can happen. Learn more about your ad choices. Send us Fan MailOne of the most common things people hear in sports, business, and personal development is, “Don't think about the outcome.”I understand why people say it. If you become obsessed with results, pressure can build quickly. You can lose focus, force things, and start worrying more about the future than what needs to happen right now.But I also believe something important gets missed when people say that. You need something to shoot for.You need vision. You need purpose. You need a target that inspires you to get out of bed in the morning and keep moving forward when things become difficult. When I was part of the New York Rangers, we absolutely thought about the outcome. From the first day of training camp, the goal was clear. We wanted to win the Stanley Cup.That vision mattered. It created belief inside the locker room. It gave players direction. It unified the team around a common purpose. Nobody walked into that season hoping to simply “see what happens.” We believed we could accomplish something special. But here is the key. After setting the goal, we put it aside. We did not wake up every day talking about lifting the Stanley Cup. We focused on what needed to happen that day. Practice. Conditioning. Recovery. Communication. Accountability. Film sessions. Competing in drills. Supporting teammates. Managing emotions. Preparing mentally and physically. The outcome gave us direction. The process gave us progress. That lesson applies to every part of life.So many people today either become obsessed with the result or they lose motivation because the result feels too far away. They focus so much on the future that they stop being present in the daily work that actually creates success.Championships are not built in one moment.Confidence is not built in one moment.Transformation is not built in one moment. It happens through consistent daily action. One workout at a time. One healthy decision at a time. One conversation at a time. One practice at a time. One choice at a time. The people who perform at a high level understand how to stay present while still keeping a larger vision in mind. They know how to separate goals from daily execution. That is where mindset becomes so important.Pressure often comes from living too far ahead mentally. You start worrying about whether you will succeed, fail, impress people, make money, win the championship, recover from adversity, or achieve your goals.Meanwhile, your power only exists in the present moment. The best athletes and performers are able to bring themselves back to the task directly in front of them. The next shift. The next meeting. The next rep.The next opportunity. That does not mean the goal disappears. The vision remains in the background as fuel and motivation. But your focus stays connected to preparation and execution. This is something I have seen repeatedly, both in sports and in life. The people who grow the most are usually the people who commit to the process without constantly needing immediate results. They trust the work. They understand that progress takes time. They know there will be setbacks, adversity, frustration, and moments where things do not go according to plan. But they continue showing up anyway. That is where real confidence comes from.Confidence is not just positive thinking. Confidence is built through preparation, repetition, resilience, and learning how to stay steady under pressure.Even during difficult moments on our Stanley Cup team, we did not panic and suddenly abandon the process. We trusted our preparation. We trusted each other. We trusted the work we had already put in.That mindset matters everywhere. In business, people often focus so much on the final goal that they burn themselves out chasing quick results. In health and fitness, people become discouraged because they do not see changes fast enough. In parenting, athletes, leadership, and personal growth, people sometimes expect overnight transformation. But meaningful growth rarely happens overnight. The process is where growth lives. The process teaches discipline. The process teaches patience. The process teaches resilience. The process teaches presence. And many times, when you fully commit yourself to the daily process, the outcome begins to take care of itself. That does not mean every goal will happen exactly the way you imagined. Life does not always work that way. But focusing on the process gives you the best possible opportunity to create success while also enjoying the journey along the way.At the end of the day, having a vision is important.Goals matter.Dreams matter.Outcomes matter. But after setting the goal, the challenge becomes learning how to return your attention back to the daily work required to get there.Stay present.Trust the process.Focus on what you can control.Keep showing up.That is how big goals eventually become reality.Discover the limitless potential of The Healthy Mindset Application (App) with our exclusive Application Assess, Educate, Coach approach. Debating which of the three Heat titles is the most meaningful title. Crowder argues LeBron's first ring should be at the top of the list.
“By the time we get there, I don't think we'll leave any stone unturned for the first one. There's still room to grow, but I do think I'll be very ready.”My guest for today's episode is Emma Grace Hurley: an ASICS athlete and one of the most consistent American road racers of the last two years. She trains under Andrew and Amy Begley at Heartland Track Club in Indianapolis, and in 2026 she has already set the American Record at 8K (24:29 at the Shamrock Shuffle), won the USATF 10-Mile title at Cherry Blossom, won the 25K title at the Gate River Run and finished second at the USATF 5K Championships in her own city, running 15:00 flat to miss the sub-15 barrier by four-tenths of a second. She is also, as of this week, officially confirmed as one of the scoring members of the U.S. half marathon team for Copenhagen — one of the three athletes who were misdirected in the closing mile of the USATF Half Marathon Championships in Atlanta in March. World Athletics granted a special exception that will allow seven American women to compete, with Jess McClain, Emma Grace, and Ednah Kurgat as the scoring athletes alongside Weini Kelati. The top three official finishers — Molly Born, Carrie Ellwood, and Annie Rodenfels — will make their international debuts as non-scoring athletes. What makes Emma Grace one of the more interesting stories in American distance running right now is the shape of her career. She graduated from Furman in 2020 with a 15:57 5K personal best, quit running entirely, took a client associate job at JP Morgan, and did not think she was coming back to the sport. She is now a 15:00 road 5K runner, an 8K American record holder, a national 10-mile champion, and a two-event Worlds qualifier. She has not run a marathon yet — it's happening this fall.In this conversation, recorded in Brooklyn, we get into all of it: what it actually took to bounce back after Atlanta and immediately set a national record three weeks later, why she doesn't love the track but is a 15-flat road 5K runner, the Cherry Blossom 10-mile where she lost the overall by one second to a woman who finished seventh in the 10,000m at the Tokyo Olympics, the moment she finally felt like the long slow build was paying off, and what scares her most about the marathon block ahead.____________Host: Chris Chavez | @chris_j_chavezGuest: Emma Grace Hurley | @emmagracehurleyProduced by: Jasmine Fehr | @jasminefehr____________SUPPORT OUR SPONSORSXENDURANCE: Xendurance Protein is designed specifically to help your body recover, rebuild, and get stronger after training.
