Finding Christ This Christmas Text: Luke 2:41-50 41 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover. 42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast. 43 And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it. 44 But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance. 45 And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him. 46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. 47 And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers. 48 And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. 49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business? 50 And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them. I) In what sense might we lose Jesus? John 10:27-28 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. II) Who might lose Jesus, who might lose Christ? III) Where did they lose the Lord Jesus? IV) How may we lose Jesus? How did they do it? Verse 44 tells us. “But they, supposing Him to have been in the company, went a day’s journey.” V) How can we find Jesus this Christmas? 45 And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him. 46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. I believe if you open your heart to the Lord, He’ll show you where it was. If you pray the prayer we’ve been given in Psalms 139:23-24, “Search me, oh God, and know my heart, try me and know my thoughts and see if there be any wicked way in me,” In order for anyone to find Jesus we must first admit we have lost him or don’t know how to find him. It is my prayer that we all find Jesus this Christmas. Remember the way to finding anything is go back to the last place you knew where it was. This week, Alli and Mary discuss Liv totally melting into the personalities of the various zombie brains-- yet, we don't really see any other zombie act this way. Since there isn't a lot of lore in the show yet, it's hard to get a good handle on who Liv is as a person. Is that on purpose? Are we doing Buffy an vampire lore part II? Who could know. Meanwhile, the show mourns Lowell for one whole episode, and then we move on to Major's (admittedly, big deal) issues. Will someone help this dude out? Seriously.
See the wretchedness of the world, how could there be a path of light for mankind? I Satan's corrupted me until today. It's tragic I believe in God but I ain't been saved. Wanna give up before reaching my goal, but can't forget the bitterness. How can I think of only my future, when God's heart is still unsatisfied? I've been lucky enough to see God's face! So how could I spend days in vain? How can I throw years of toil to the wind, cast a lifetime of hopes into the sea? The true light appears, the righteousness comes. The path's laid out at my feet. Not perfected, how can I repay God's love? Not fit for use, how can I erase disgrace? A bright life is from seeking, gaining the truth. How could I fail the will of God? The righteous God has brought light to man, revealing human life's meaning. The righteous will seek the truth. The wise will come to the light. Run toward the path of light. Run toward the path of light. II Who's corrupted mankind, why's mankind in a daze? If you allow Satan to trample you, you will then regret it all too late when you're already in hell. See through the true face of the devil. Strive to know God while we're alive. God has no place to rest His head. So rise up, fight for the truth! The righteous God has brought light to man, revealing human life's meaning. The righteous will seek the truth. The wise will come to the light. Run toward the path of light. Run toward the path of light. III God's made everything, it's right He enjoys it all. Yet the devil shamelessly encroaches, and its sinfulness is monstrous. Spiritual siblings should rise up. God has come so why not seek? Only following Christ can we see righteousness. Forsake Satan, witness Christ's victory, then He soon may be at rest. The righteous God has brought light to man, revealing human life's meaning. The righteous will seek the truth. The wise will come to the light. Run toward the path of light. Run toward the path of light. IV God incarnate has appeared. Come to the light, here's the gospel. Obey the true way, you'll be blessed. Resist it and do evil things, then you will suffer misfortune. Now is the time to seek the truth. The righteous God has brought light to man, revealing human life's meaning. The righteous will seek the truth. The wise will come to the light. Run toward the path of light. Run toward the path of light. from Follow the Lamb and Sing New Songs
I I have given You my heart. I have no other love but You. My love for You is a deep stream, beloved dearest. I wish to follow You for the rest of my life, this is my solemn vow. Painful refinement breaks my heart. Your words of majesty have conquered me. I've seen Your loveliness. I know Your reverence. So many times, You strictly deal with me. Only after many hidden tears, do I know that You are the loveliest. I want nothing except for You. I'm willing to give my life to love You. I'm going to love You till the end, till the end, and see the day You gain Your glory, Your glory. Even through the pain, even Satan besieges me, I won't regret loving You. So all I am I give to You. Wherever You go, I will be attached to You. And I long, oh, I long to look upon You. Yes, I long, how I long to look upon You. II Who could not love You? You are the loveliest. My love for You is loyal and nothing can resist. My love is a firmly planted tree by the river. It doesn't fear in the heat. In drought it doesn't whither. I suffer for my love for You. I do not worry for tomorrow. Be it winds or rainstorms, I absorb it all for You. I bear disgrace to be Your witness. I offer up what I have to repay Your great love. III My heart is burning in me. I yearn to grow more quickly, to love You more purely and give all I am to You. I bitterly weep and pray. I cannot stand to disappoint. I must cast off my impurities and join You at the feast. How I long to see You, to never be apart again. During unspeakable agony, I have Your words to comfort me. Slander and rejection, I'll accept them all. The thought of You has kindled my love. You can hear it in my praying voice. Even through the pain, even Satan besieges me, I won't regret loving You. So all I am I give to You. Wherever You go, I will be attached to You. And I long, oh, I long to look upon You. Yes, I long, how I long to look upon You. How I long to look upon You. from Follow the Lamb and Sing New Songs
I In this vast world which has changed countless times even since before history, there is no one to lead and guide man, no one but He who rules over all. No mighty lord labors and prepares for the sake of this mankind’s needs. None can lead them into bright future, nor free them from injustice of this world. God laments the future of humankind. How He grieves at the fall of them! See His sorrow as they fail to learn that they march the road of no return. Man has rebelled, broken the heart of God; Satan’s evil path they’ve gladly trod. And no one has stopped to clearly see where mankind will eventually go. II Who then stops and senses God’s anger? Who seeks to please and get close to Him? Where’s the one who glimpses God’s sorrow or tries to grasp the pain He feels? Even when they’ve heard His calling voice, they press down on the path that leads away from God’s mercy, truth, and watchful gaze; willingly, they sell themselves to Satan. III How then will God act towards the one who stands defiant and dismisses Him? Know that God’s calls and urgings are followed by disaster grim and hard to bear. It punishes not just man’s flesh but his soul; no one can tell what wrath God has stored for all who fight His plan, ignore His voice; wrath that man has never felt or heard. This is a calamity unique; God’s planned one creation and salvation. This is the first time, and the last. No one can feel with his heart, God’s anguished love and fervent desire to save mankind. God laments the future of humankind. How He grieves at the fall of them! See His sorrow as they fail to learn that they march the road of no return.
