In 2015, I suffered from poor Type 1 diabetes control which lead me to become legally blind for almost a year. The doctors didn't give me much hope, predicting an 80% chance that I would never see again. But I refused to give up and changed my lifestyle drastically. Through sheer willpower (and an amazing eye surgeon) I beat the odds and regained my vision. During that difficult time, I couldn't read or write, which was devastating as they had always been a source of comfort for me since childhood. However, my wife took me to the local library where she read out the titles of audiobooks to me. I selected some of my favorite books, such as the Disc World series, Name of the Wind, Harry Potter, and more, and the audiobooks brought these stories to life in a way I had never experienced before. Muffin is safe and comfortable, and everyone gets a spot to sleep amongst the rubble. How thoughtful. It takes a while to rebuild the mansion, and each sibling has their own strength. Amos is still struggling with what happened to him, and we totally understand why–it was such a violation. Who is the real Amos and will we get to see him in Book 2? The amulets are safe, and we wonder what it'll be like when the kids are actually ready to host the gods again. Why can Carter see Anubis in his human form now? It must be so weird to see their old home in L.A. We were right about Julius, Osiris, and the Underworld throne! The banter between Anubis and Sadie is what romance books are made of! The situation with Julius is complicated to say the least, though we understand why he did what he did. Ruby shows up and we learn that she was kind of there with Isis when Sadie was hosting the goddess. Horus takes the throne of the gods and no one challenges him. Then all the gods bow to the Kanes. ZEUS WOULD NEVER. The gods restored the mansion, which is super nice, but we all know what we were really hoping for. Amos is leaving to go back to the House of Life and leaving the kids on their own. Except Bast is totally back! Carter thinks Sadie will want to go back to her grandparents, but she's totally going to stay with him in Brooklyn. We really loved the end of this book and how it hints to more coming soon. What were our favorite lines and favorite moments? What can we expect in Book 2? We can't wait to see the new recruits! Carter is totally going to track down the real Zia. During her fourteen years as a detective, she investigated sexual assaults, child abuse, missing persons, and homicides. In 2010, Lindsey discovered serial killer Ted Bundy's DNA was not in CODIS. She worked with authorities in Florida to track down a sample of Bundy's DNA and finally entered it into the national database in 2011. Lindsey retired in 2018 as the Tacoma Police Department's cold case detective and joined the Washington State Attorney General's Office as a senior investigator assigned for the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative. She is a former member of the FBI ViCAP National Advisory Board and teaches child abduction response and cold case investigations for the National Criminal Justice Training Center at Fox Valley Technical College. Lindsey has been a speaker at numerous law enforcement conferences around the country, lecturing on cold cases, sex crimes, DNA, and child abduction response. She recently published a true crime memoir titled, “In My DNA: My Career Investigating Your Worst Nightmares."

Director Guillermo Del Toro is a master at bringing gothic horror to the big screen in glorious fashion, which he does for this episode's movie “Frankenstein”, but only in a small number of theaters. Most people will have to see this on the small screen because Del Toro decided to make his long-awaited “Frankenstein” movie for Netflix, the king of small screen. Nevertheless, it's fantastic to see a classic movie monster on the screen, with an excellent cast no less. Oscar Isaac plays Dr. Victor Frankenstein, Mia Goth is Elizabeth, Christoph Waltz as Harlander and Charles Dance as Leopold Frankenstein. This version of the classic tale introduces us to Victor Frankenstein as a young boy to begin to explain his mad ambitions, then onto his creation of The Creature  and then the aftermath. We even get to see The Creature's story from his perspective. Does this all add up to an entertaining movie? Tonight's guest, Shawn Brackenridge, is a Dogman investigator who doesn't believe in living in your fears. Having said that, even he gets unsettled when he and his research partner visit the area around the Lake Medina Dam, near Mico, Texas. Every time Shawn has visited the dam, the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. The dam is different than any other dam Shawn has seen, when you consider the lengths county officials have gone to, to keep people away from the dam. 7-foot fences surround the dam that are topped with razor wire. Shawn doesn't have to guess why the county has gone to such lengths to keep people away from the dam. He's had multiple encounters with something there that would definitely make the county want to keep people away. Locals who live near the dam don't go outside, after dark. They stay inside their homes. Shawn spoke with a man who works at a shop, in the area, who told Shawn that he won't go outside after dark there, either.
