So many of us moms and caretakers of children with disabilities can find ourselves all too easily slipping into seasons of unhappiness, bitterness, self-doubt, self-hatred, and lack of motivation. Annette met virtually with Jenny Sanders, founder of iLovekickboxing in Agoura Hills, CA (recently shut down due to COVID-19) to discuss the importance of exercise and endorphins in preventing and fighting off depression. When Jenny’s son was diagnosed with autism in 2014, she found herself in a state of denial that quickly led to full-on depression. With no motivation to eat well, get active, or pursue her own hobbies, Jenny was completely out of shape, lethargic, and unhappy. In this mini-sode, Jenny shares her story of working through her depression with exercise and finding a new source of motivation to take actionable steps towards happiness. This is her story of transforming from dark skies and no hope, to a happy, proud, and successful mom, wife, friend, and individual. Annette Hines has been practicing in the areas of Special Needs, Elder Law, and Estate Planning for more than 20 years. Ms. Hines brings personal experience with special needs to her practice and podcasts as the mother of two daughters, one of whom passed away from Mitochondrial disease in November 2013. This deep, personal understanding of special needs fuels her passion for quality special needs planning and drives her dedication to help others within the special needs community.
Jenny Sanders owned and operated her 1st brick and mortar fitness kickboxing studio for over five years. As covid hit, she had to shut down her studio by order. Jenny is transitioning to online health coaching, especially helping moms with special needs kids to take control back, get healthy, happy and live their best life. They will regain their health, find their calm, and restore their energy so that they don't compromise their life, self-care and can keep showing us as their best self. Jenny is a mom with a special needs son & understands and feels the struggle they face. She wants to share her story of how her Mum has been my daily inspiration to keep her moving forward with positive energy, and to overcome the obstacles. Jenny has been facing many obstacles, especially during the pandemic. Jenny draws inspiration from her Mum. Her Mum doesn't stop her daily morning exercise routine no matter rain or shine. Her Mum has a lot of health issues like arthritis, osteoporosis, neck disc bulge, broken right upper arm on top of her deafness. But she always shows up with her smile, and stays active and positive! BRAVE Worship - For Women in Church Leadership, Music and Songwriting
I wanted to share with you my heart for the writing side of things this year with Brave Worship. As many of you have probably seen. I launched a course last year called The Worship Songwriter Mentorship. The purpose for the course was actually birthed out of Brave Worship - out of a need for creating a foundation for us to all have in common as we come together to write. I think that's so important. So much so, that I want to use the course as our foundation moving forward with Brave Worship songwriters. So, this year we're going to be relaunching the course. The new course is now live and we’ll be starting group small groups the week of February 16th. We would love to have you be a part of it. If you're able to take the course and small group, then you will have some other opportunities… This year, on April 26, we're going to be doing a Brave Worship Writing Day. Those that have completed the course will be invited to come in and take part in that day together. And, we're intentionally establishing a songwriting community. And, then later this year, we are going to be doing a Songwriting Missions Trip to Ireland with Ray Hughes. That will be September 13th through the 23rd. In order to go on that trip, you're going to need to have taken this course. Not only just for writing purposes, which is part of it, but we're also going to be taking the course to local worship pastors and writers there. We’re going to need some facilitators to be teaching it.So, I hope all of this sounds good to you. I can't wait to do more with you this year as songwriters.
