This may be the most cutting-edge life extension technology you'll hear about for decades. You'll discover how mitochondrial transfusion, rejuvenation, and repair could reverse biological aging, supercharge your metabolism, and radically extend healthspan—all by upgrading the cellular energy systems that power every function in your body. Watch this episode on YouTube for the full video experience: https://www.youtube.com/@DaveAspreyBPR Host Dave Asprey sits down with inventor and tech entrepreneur Tom Benson, founder of Mitrix. After launching three successful Silicon Valley companies, Benson shifted focus to one of the most promising frontiers in science: mitochondrial bioreactors designed to regrow your own autologous mitochondria. This isn't theory—it's a near-future anti-aging technology poised to transform functional medicine, personalized medicine, and the global conversation around aging reversal. They explore how mitochondrial DNA mismatches affect aging, why mitochondria act like cellular AI cores, and how dysfunction in these ancient organelles contributes to neurodegenerative disease, metabolic decline, and cognitive disorders. You'll learn how restoring mitochondria could enhance everything from stem cell therapy and nootropics to ketosis, fasting, cold therapy, and even sleep optimization. You'll Learn: • Why mitochondria may be the real control centers of human biology • How mitochondrial transfusion could revolutionize longevity and functional medicine • The connection between mitochondrial dysfunction and Parkinson's, autism, and ALS • Why brain optimization and neuroplasticity depend on cellular energy • How stem cell-derived mitochondria compare to nootropics and NAD • What happens when mitochondrial DNA and nuclear DNA are mismatched • Why early aging might start with your egg cells' mitochondrial computing • How mitochondrial health influences metabolism, ketosis, and fat storage • Why stress, toxins, and pharmaceuticals like statins wreck mitochondrial function • What it takes to scale mitochondrial bioreactors for widespread human use • How mitochondrial hacking could improve immune function, sleep, and resilience • Why the future of biohacking might begin with testing and upgrading your mitochondria This episode is essential listening for anyone passionate about biohacking longevity, functional aging, mitochondrial testing, and next-gen human optimization. Dave Asprey is a four-time New York Times bestselling author, founder of Bulletproof Coffee, and the father of biohacking. With over 1,000 interviews and 1 million monthly listeners, The Human Upgrade is the top podcast for people who want to take control of their biology, extend their longevity, and optimize every system in the body and mind. Angela welcomes back Todd Shipman to discuss the impact of modern technology and electromagnetic fields (EMFs) on our health, particularly focusing on their effects on mitochondria and overall well-being. Together they explore how our bodies respond to the constant barrage of EMFs from devices like mobile phones and laptops, highlighting the resilience of our mitochondria and the silent stressors we may not feel KEY TAKEAWAYS: Impact of EMFs on Health: Exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMFs) from technology can lead to silent stressors that affect mitochondrial function Variability in Sensitivity: While not everyone feels the effects of EMFs, individuals with underlying health issues, such as autoimmune diseases or chronic fatigue, may experience greater sensitivity Heart Rate Variability (HRV) as a Biomarker: HRV is a key indicator of overall health and resilience. Studies show that exposure to EMFs can lower HRV Quantum Energy and Entanglement: Quantum energy, which operates at a subatomic level, can neutralise the negative effects of EMFs. TIMESTAMPS AND KEY TOPICS: [00:05:12] Mitochondrial energy allocation and health. [00:08:32] EMF effects on heart rate variability. [00:25:27] Quantum upgrade technology results. Hormones are wild, especially when you realize they're not just about how much you have, but how your body uses and processes them behind the scenes. That's what hormone metabolite testing helps uncover, and honestly, it's a game-changer. I'm sitting down with Dr. Liz Bartman, an incredible Naturopathic Doctor with a deep background in hormone science, to talk about how we can actually test our hormones in a meaningful way and what those results are really telling us. We chat about the different ways to test—blood, saliva, urine—and why each one tells a slightly different story. Dr. Liz also shares what happens to our hormones during menopause (hint: it's not all doom and gloom) and why cholesterol is actually essential for hormone production. One of the most eye-opening parts? The way our bodies detox estrogen and what certain metabolites might be saying about our long-term health risks, like breast cancer. If you've ever felt like your labs weren't giving you the full picture, this one's for you. Dr. Liz brings a refreshingly smart, grounded approach to hormone health. Oh, and speaking of refreshing… I've been sipping on my new favorite thing lately: Mighty Maca Mango! It's the same powerful superfood blend you know and love, now with a zesty mango twist—perfect over ice or made into popsicles. You can grab it over at dranna.com. Mitochondria give cells over 90% of their energy. Without proper energy cells cannot carry out their functions. Mitochondrial Dysfunction vs Mitochondrial Disease Mitochondrial dysfunction simply means that the mitochondria are not working correctly. Mitochondrial disease is the term used when the primary cause of mitochondrial dysfunction resides in the mitochondria. Mitochondrial disease is generally genetic. It can be inherited from either or both parents. A special type of mitochondrial disease is caused by mutations on the mitochondrial DNA, and is inherited only from the mother. When the primary cause of mitochondrial dysfunction resides outside the mitochondria, mitochondrial dysfunction is called “secondary” (to something else). Symptoms of Mitochondrial Dysfunction Cellular energy is necessary for the function of all cells, but is particularly critical for nerve and muscle. Both nerve and muscle are important in GI function, thus cyclic vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, poor GI mobility, and other digestive disorders are common. Additional potential complications of mitochondrial dysfunction include chronic fatigue, neuropathic pain, depression, autistic regression, seizures, hypoglycemia, visual and hearing difficulty, depression, anxiety, panic disorder, intellectual disability, and dysautonomia. Mitochondrial Triggers Mitochondrial dysfunction can be genetic, but even then, disease is often triggered by the environment. Viral infections are among the most common triggers of mitochondrial dysfunction. Additional potential triggers are other infections (e.g. lyme bacteria), vaccinations, toxins, anesthesia, and any other significant stressor. In order situations, mitochondrial dysfunction can be acquired. In fact, stroke and heart attack involve mitochondrial dysfunction, whereas cells are receiving insufficient oxygen for required energy metabolism. Many environmental toxins can poison mitochondria as well, including some pesticides... Click Here or Click the link below for more details! https://naturallyrecoveringautism.com/223

Feeling extra tired lately? Waking up and… feeling old?? In today's episode, I'm breaking down the biggest drivers behind your energy, vitality, stamina, and resilience. You'll learn the five key areas that shape how young or old you feel, how to tell the difference between true aging and reversible symptoms, simple shifts to restore your energy, and where to start if you're feeling completely wiped out.First things first—if you've been saying “I feel old” or “aging is the worst,” stop! Instead, get curious: What exactly makes you feel that way? Better yet, ask yourself what habits might be making you feel that way. Blaming age lets us off the hook—and keeps us stuck. Here are five truths about feeling old and ways to combat those feelings:1. Symptoms vs. Signs of AgingMany so-called “aging” symptoms (fatigue, brain fog, low energy) are actually reversible. Mitochondrial function plays a big role here.2. Exercise & CirculationNot all movement is equal. Real exercise, like steady cardio, intervals, and strength training, boosts circulation and energy. Use heart rate tracking to make sure your workouts count.3. Sleep Quality > QuantitySleep is a skill. Things like caffeine, alcohol, and lack of strength training can wreck your sleep. Focus on improving quality, not just getting more hours.4. Balanced NutritionIf you're dragging, start with food. Stabilizing blood sugar with balanced meals (protein, veggies, high-fiber carbs) can quickly boost energy and fat metabolism.5. Strength TrainingFeeling stiff, achy, or “old”? You likely need more muscle, not less movement. Strong muscles protect joints, reduce fatigue, and carry you through your day. Build strength progressively, and aim to leave workouts feeling better, not more drained. There's no one-size-fits-all exercise plan. What matters is recognizing the season you're in and choosing to work with your body, not against it. Would you like to try a safe method of healing? Do you know about Red Light Therapy? Lisa continues the conversation today with Dr. Carl Rothschild and Joyce Gerber, who also joins us, to talk about the multiple benefits of this therapy. Dr. Rothchild has been a chiropractor for many decades. Nearly 30 years ago, he was introduced to a healing method known as “Red Light Therapy.” Joyce Gerber, who is an expert nutritionist and colon hydrotherapist, met Dr. Carl Rothschild during the pandemic lockdown. Joyce was not able to do hands-on therapy, so she began working with Dr. Rothschild on his Red Light Therapy beds. She met a client who had heart problems. After 5 minutes, the therapy helped his heart tremendously. They explain how we are in a state of regeneration or degeneration. Joyce talks about how she also uses food as therapy. She looks at the whole body and how one part affects another. It's a holistic approach. The remedies are personalized. It's a powerful modality. Joyce explains how nutrition helps as well. Dr. Carl talks about how each session is 12 minutes. He says there have been no recorded side effects from this therapy. Your body will respond whether it needs to relax or be energized. The body knows how to get better. If you have any condition, the therapy may help. Mitochondrial activity is increased, and it will improve those particular areas. It is whole body healing. Dr. Carl explains that not only will you look better and feel better, you will have a better quality of life. Everyone can benefit from this non-invasive treatment. Joyce Gerber calls the mitochondria the energy factories of the cell. They are necessary for optimal health. Dr. Carl also discusses pain and the underlying causes. When corrected, the pain and inflammation go away. You must correct the underlying issues, and you can also reverse them with Red Light Therapy. He also discusses the difference between infared saunas using far-infared and the therapy beds. The near-infared waves affect the mitochondria. He also discusses blue and green lights too, and how blue light can negatively affect sleep patterns. The Red Light wavelengths are invisible to the naked eye. He talks about how there are more than 3 million documents and articles about the benefits of this therapy including studies from the National Institutes of Health. He further discusses how the therapy can also improve mood, sleep, and emotions. There are numerous locations around the country which have the Red Light Therapy Beds. This is Part 2 of the interview. Info: www.trifectalight.com/joyce
Dr. Ben Bikman opens this lecture with a comprehensive overview of fluoride's history in public health, highlighting its original role in preventing dental cavities. However, he shifts the focus to its lesser-known systemic effects, particularly on metabolic health.Ben emphasizes emerging evidence that chronic exposure to fluoride—from water, toothpaste, and other products—can disrupt fat cell function and insulin sensitivity, both key pillars of metabolic regulation.Dr. Bikman explains how fluoride interferes with fat cell development by inhibiting PPARγ, a key regulator of adipogenesis. While this may initially seem beneficial (fewer fat cells), it actually leads to hypertrophic fat cells that are more insulin resistant and pro-inflammatory. Though human data is limited, epidemiological studies suggest a link between high fluoride exposure and abdominal obesity.Fluoride's impact extends to insulin resistance and pancreatic function. Rodent studies show impaired glucose tolerance and reduced insulin production following fluoride exposure. Mechanistically, this is due to oxidative stress damaging mitochondria in beta cells, impairing both insulin release and glucose uptake. Human studies—though sparse—have shown similar trends in high-fluoride areas with improvements upon fluoride reduction.Ben also explores fluoride's effects on mitochondrial function, liver health, brain development, and fertility. Mitochondrial damage in fat and liver cells impairs energy production and fat metabolism, potentially leading to fatty liver disease. In the brain, fluoride may lower IQ and disrupt thyroid function—especially harmful during development. In fertility, fluoride is linked to lower sperm count and hormone disruption in animal models. Dr. Bikman concludes by recommending avoiding fluoride in drinking water while acknowledging its limited role in dental care.Show Notes/References:For complete show notes and references, we invite you to become a Ben Bikman Insider subscriber. Methylene blue has been going viral recently and not always for the right reasons.... or so their claimers make it seem. The most recent example of this is Dr. Paul Saladino's video he posted on social media he states that methylene blue actually "decreases ATP production" amongst other rationales for why people should not be consuming this mitochondrial-boosting agent. In the beginning of todays episode, I thoroughly and clearly state my thoughts on Dr. Saladino's hot take. The second topic entails a prelude about deuterium: what it is, how it impacts our mitochondrial function and some strategies to help mitigate its negative effects. We first discuss deuterium, because the research article we cover today is about taurine and its implications for helping the body produce deuterium-depleted water and/or helping the body decrease its deuterium content altogether. This not only has implications for overall health, but countless diseases and cancers as well. Story at-a-glance Mitochondrial dysfunction is a key driver of neurodegeneration, with research showing that a single resting cortical neuron requires 4.7 billion ATP molecules every second for energy When mitochondria lose their efficient shape, electrons escape and form reactive oxygen species (ROS), triggering cellular damage and stress that particularly affects brain cells Research shows 42% of adults over 55 develop dementia by age 95, with projected new cases expected to double from 514,000 in 2020 to 1 million by 2060 Mitochondria act as cellular calcium buffers — when this function fails, calcium floods cells and triggers the mitochondrial permeability transition pore, leading to widespread neuron death Key mitochondrial health strategies include eliminating seed oils, optimizing carbohydrate intake, reducing environmental toxin exposure, getting proper sun exposure and boosting NAD⁺ levels through supplements
