What if cancer isn't primarily a genetic disease — but a metabolic one? In this groundbreaking conversation, Professor Thomas N. Seyfried, PhD (Boston College), author of Cancer as a Metabolic Disease, joins Ralph W. Moss, PhD and Ben Moss to discuss the Mitochondrial and Metabolic Theory of Cancer — and why it challenges decades of conventional thinking. Dr. Seyfried explains how cancer cells depend on glucose and glutamine as their dual fuel supply — and how cutting off both pathways may be the key to shutting cancer down. He details the role of the Glucose Ketone Index (GKI), nutritional ketosis, and new interest in anti-parasitic drugs like fenbendazole and mebendazole, which appear to target cancer's energy metabolism. This episode explores: Why the somatic mutation theory no longer explains cancer's true origin How mitochondrial dysfunction drives tumor growth The critical role of glucose and glutamine fermentation in sustaining cancer cells Why targeting both fuels together is essential for effective therapy Emerging research on fenbendazole, mebendazole, and DON as tools in metabolic therapy The potential of a paradigm shift in oncology — from genes to metabolism Resources: This Podcast contains many scientific terms. Mitochondria might be one of the most important organelles inside our cells. Best known as the cell's powerhouse, they don't just make energy; they regulate metabolism, control cell death, drive immune function, and may even be the reason multicellular life exists at all! It's no surprise they're implicated in nearly every major disease, from heart disease and cancer to neurodegeneration, especially as they decline with age. What if we could slow or even reverse that decline by giving cells fresh, healthy mitochondria? That's the promise of mitochondrial transplantation—a groundbreaking approach Mitrix Bio is pioneering. In this episode, Dr. Gil Blander welcomes Dr. Haim Cohen to Longevity by Design to explore his revolutionary approach to understanding aging. Haim's team analyzed acetylation sites across 107 mammalian species, creating its most extensive comparative study. This computational approach revealed specific post-translational modifications that evolved exclusively in long-lived animals. The research identifies critical pathways where evolution engineered longevity solutions. These acetylation changes affect DNA repair, cell cycle regulation, and mitochondrial function. Unlike traditional aging research focusing on single pathways like mTOR or caloric restriction, Haim's unbiased screening simultaneously reveals multiple longevity targets. Evolution provided a natural laboratory for testing anti-aging modifications over millions of years. The findings offer exciting therapeutic possibilities for human longevity. Haim's team is now creating transgenic mice to test whether mimicking these evolutionary changes can extend lifespan in the lab. This research suggests humans could potentially "accelerate evolution" by implementing modifications that nature has already proven effective in whales, elephants, and other long-lived species. Guest-at-a-Glance

Does Mitochondrial Transplantation Work?

Health Longevity Secrets

What if we could reset our cellular batteries? In this fascinating deep dive into cutting-edge longevity science, Tom Benson from Mitrix Bio reveals how mitochondrial transplantation could revolutionize how we treat age-related diseases and potentially add decades of healthy living to our lives. The conversation begins by exploring the extraordinary nature of mitochondria – those tiny power plants within our cells that generate 95% of our body's energy through molecular rotors functioning like miniature jet turbines. With approximately a quadrillion mitochondria comprising 10% of our body weight, these ancient organelles trace back to a symbiotic merger with our cellular ancestors over a billion years ago.Unlike the nuclear DNA we inherit from both parents, our mitochondrial DNA comes almost exclusively from our mothers, creating fascinating maternal lineage patterns where thousands of family members share identical mitochondrial DNA. As we age, this mitochondrial DNA gradually accumulates damage, with factors like stress, smoking, and medical treatments accelerating deterioration. By our 90s, this decline reaches a critical threshold that appears to drive much of the aging process. The most exciting revelation comes in learning that mitochondria naturally move between cells in our bodies – and scientists are now leveraging this phenomenon through transplantation techniques. By harvesting mitochondria from stem cells grown in bioreactors and reinjecting them, researchers are seeing remarkable improvements in cognition, strength, and immune function in aged mice, essentially restoring youthful cellular energy levels. Human trials are already underway, though still at small scale. For anyone fascinated by the frontiers of longevity science and the quest to not just add years to life, but life to those years, this conversation offers a glimpse into one of the most promising approaches emerging today. https://mitrix.bio/Lies I Taught In Medical School : Free sample chapter- https://www.robertlufkinmd.com/lies/Complete Metabolic Heart Scan (20% off 'LUFKIN20') https://www.innerscopic.com/Fasting Mimicking Diet (20% off) https://prolonlife.com/Lufkin At home blood testing (20% off) https://siphoxhealth.com/lufkinMimio Health (15% off 'LUFKIN') https://mimiohealth.sjv.io/c/5810114/2745519/30611 Web: https://robertlufkinmd.com/X: https://x.com/robertlufkinmdYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/robertLufkinmdInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/robertlufkinmd/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/robertlufkinmd/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@robertlufkinThreads: https://www.threads.net/@robertlufkinmdFacebook: ...

Hormones are wild, especially when you realize they're not just about how much you have, but how your body uses and processes them behind the scenes. That's what hormone metabolite testing helps uncover, and honestly, it's a game-changer. I'm sitting down with Dr. Liz Bartman, an incredible Naturopathic Doctor with a deep background in hormone science, to talk about how we can actually test our hormones in a meaningful way and what those results are really telling us. We chat about the different ways to test—blood, saliva, urine—and why each one tells a slightly different story. Dr. Liz also shares what happens to our hormones during menopause (hint: it's not all doom and gloom) and why cholesterol is actually essential for hormone production. One of the most eye-opening parts? The way our bodies detox estrogen and what certain metabolites might be saying about our long-term health risks, like breast cancer. If you've ever felt like your labs weren't giving you the full picture, this one's for you. Dr. Liz brings a refreshingly smart, grounded approach to hormone health. Oh, and speaking of refreshing… I've been sipping on my new favorite thing lately: Mighty Maca Mango! It's the same powerful superfood blend you know and love, now with a zesty mango twist—perfect over ice or made into popsicles. You can grab it over at dranna.com. Mitochondria give cells over 90% of their energy. Without proper energy cells cannot carry out their functions. Mitochondrial Dysfunction vs Mitochondrial Disease Mitochondrial dysfunction simply means that the mitochondria are not working correctly. Mitochondrial disease is the term used when the primary cause of mitochondrial dysfunction resides in the mitochondria. Mitochondrial disease is generally genetic. It can be inherited from either or both parents. A special type of mitochondrial disease is caused by mutations on the mitochondrial DNA, and is inherited only from the mother. When the primary cause of mitochondrial dysfunction resides outside the mitochondria, mitochondrial dysfunction is called “secondary” (to something else). Symptoms of Mitochondrial Dysfunction Cellular energy is necessary for the function of all cells, but is particularly critical for nerve and muscle. Both nerve and muscle are important in GI function, thus cyclic vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, poor GI mobility, and other digestive disorders are common. Additional potential complications of mitochondrial dysfunction include chronic fatigue, neuropathic pain, depression, autistic regression, seizures, hypoglycemia, visual and hearing difficulty, depression, anxiety, panic disorder, intellectual disability, and dysautonomia. Mitochondrial Triggers Mitochondrial dysfunction can be genetic, but even then, disease is often triggered by the environment. Viral infections are among the most common triggers of mitochondrial dysfunction. Additional potential triggers are other infections (e.g. lyme bacteria), vaccinations, toxins, anesthesia, and any other significant stressor. In order situations, mitochondrial dysfunction can be acquired. In fact, stroke and heart attack involve mitochondrial dysfunction, whereas cells are receiving insufficient oxygen for required energy metabolism. Many environmental toxins can poison mitochondria as well, including some pesticides... Click Here or Click the link below for more details! https://naturallyrecoveringautism.com/223

Ep 59: The Truth About “Feeling Old”

Feeling extra tired lately? Waking up and… feeling old?? In today's episode, I'm breaking down the biggest drivers behind your energy, vitality, stamina, and resilience. You'll learn the five key areas that shape how young or old you feel, how to tell the difference between true aging and reversible symptoms, simple shifts to restore your energy, and where to start if you're feeling completely wiped out.First things first—if you've been saying “I feel old” or “aging is the worst,” stop! Instead, get curious: What exactly makes you feel that way? Better yet, ask yourself what habits might be making you feel that way. Blaming age lets us off the hook—and keeps us stuck. Here are five truths about feeling old and ways to combat those feelings:1. Symptoms vs. Signs of AgingMany so-called “aging” symptoms (fatigue, brain fog, low energy) are actually reversible. Mitochondrial function plays a big role here.2. Exercise & CirculationNot all movement is equal. Real exercise, like steady cardio, intervals, and strength training, boosts circulation and energy. Use heart rate tracking to make sure your workouts count.3. Sleep Quality > QuantitySleep is a skill. Things like caffeine, alcohol, and lack of strength training can wreck your sleep. Focus on improving quality, not just getting more hours.4. Balanced NutritionIf you're dragging, start with food. Stabilizing blood sugar with balanced meals (protein, veggies, high-fiber carbs) can quickly boost energy and fat metabolism.5. Strength TrainingFeeling stiff, achy, or “old”? You likely need more muscle, not less movement. Strong muscles protect joints, reduce fatigue, and carry you through your day. Build strength progressively, and aim to leave workouts feeling better, not more drained. There's no one-size-fits-all exercise plan. What matters is recognizing the season you're in and choosing to work with your body, not against it. Let's redefine what getting older really feels like! You can get FREE access to my 4-week Strength Without Stress program right now!
