In this episode of Parent Hope Podcast: Real Questions, Grounded Reflections, Jenny Brown and David Brown revisit some of the key themes raised in Jenny's conversation with Justin Coulson about raising boys. Rather than focusing on parenting techniques, they explore deeper questions: How do we raise boys without making them a project? How do parents avoid defining themselves through their children's successes and struggles? What has changed in childhood over the last fifty years, and what might boys be losing when freedom, responsibility and independence decline? Drawing on Bowen family systems theory, recent research on boys and childhood, and reflections on their own experiences, Jenny and David discuss how parents can stay connected without taking over, support growth without overprotecting, and help boys develop confidence, responsibility and purpose. A thoughtful conversation about boys, parenting, anxiety, and the challenge of raising capable young people in a changing world. Coulson, J. (2026). Raising Boys. ABC Books. Mintz, S., & Stearns, P. Detroit's comeback is not being measured only in restored facades or reopened landmarks. It is being measured in whether the city can turn once-abandoned spaces into places where people work, learn, gather, move, and build long-term opportunity. Few projects capture that shift more clearly than Michigan Central, the former train station that stood for decades as a symbol of Detroit's decline and now anchors a growing innovation district tied to commercial development, youth programming, hospitality, and future transit connectivity. Its revival comes at a pivotal moment: after decades of population loss, Detroit recently recorded its first Census-recognized population increase since 1957, giving new urgency to the question of how the city's next chapter will be built. What does it take to transform a building once seen as a symbol of decline into a platform for Detroit's next chapter of work, learning, mobility, and community growth? On this episode of DisruptED, host Ron J. Stefanski sits down with Beth Kmetz-Armitage, Director of Commercial Development at Michigan Central, to discuss how the historic campus is helping reshape Detroit's future. Their conversation explores the redevelopment of Michigan Central Station, the broader commercial development strategy behind Detroit's comeback, the role of public-private collaboration, and how transit, housing, youth programming, and neighborhood investment all connect inside a larger vision for the city.Key highlights from the conversation…Michigan Central is evolving from a restored landmark into a full innovation district, with Ford offices, retail and hospitality development, a forthcoming NoMad Hotel under the Hilton banner, and youth-focused programming through the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan.Beth explains how Detroit's land inventory, once seen as a burden, became a strategic asset for housing, commercial development, and neighborhood revitalization, helping the city attract developers and rebuild density. The episode highlights Detroit's next major challenge: becoming a destination city again through stronger connectivity, including multimodal transit plans at Michigan Central, Amtrak service, intercity buses, regional SMART service, and links to Ann Arbor.Beth Kmetz-Armitage is the Director of Commercial Development at Michigan Central, where she develops the organization's real estate portfolio to support mobility innovation and economic development in Detroit. She previously held senior real estate and public-private partnership roles with the City of Detroit, leading strategy for surplus commercial and industrial properties and connecting developers with public financing, entitlements, and publicly owned land for mixed-use and mixed-income housing projects. Her broader commercial real estate career spans asset management, property management, leasing, construction, contract negotiation, historic renovation, and portfolio oversight across major organizations including Broder & Sachse, Hines, and Equity Office Properties Trust.

Jon Herold comes in Thursday with a healthy amount of righteous indignation and Phil Scarborough's best news in years. Anna Paulina Luna filed assault charges after a Code Pink activist tapped her arm in a Capitol hallway, and Jon plays the video, compares it to Savannah Hernandez's actual assault, and asks the obvious question: what does calling that an assault do to people who have been genuinely assaulted? Phil Scarborough's Hines County, Mississippi story reaches its conclusion: a judge voided the 2023 Democratic primary after finding missing ballot boxes, missing voter registration forms, missing ballot books, and missing machine tapes, and ordered a new special election in 45 days. Jon calls it one of the first times since 2020 he has seen an election actually thrown out over fraud. John Bolton is expected to plead guilty to illegally retaining national security documents and pay over $2 million. Todd Blanche is being nominated as permanent attorney general and Jon does not think he has the Senate votes. Trump posted in real time calling out California's slow ballot counting as theft and saying the US attorney's office in Los Angeles is already investigating. The House also voted to rein in Trump's Iran war powers with a few Republican crossovers, and Jon sees a potential constitutional fight coming.

In this episode of The Better Sex Podcast, I talk with longtime BDSM educator, mentor, and professional dominant Master Hines. We explore what power exchange can teach us about desire, trust, presence, and the kind of connection that makes sex and relationships feel more alive. Master Hines shares how he first found his way into BDSM through a desire to become a better lover, and how mentorship, community, and decades of experience shaped his approach to dominance. Throughout the conversation, we talk about the changes in the BDSM community over time, the difference between topping and dominance, what makes a powerful scene, and why good BDSM is not about the toy, the technique, or the performance, but the quality of connection between the people involved. In this conversation, Master Hines shares his perspective on loving dominance, rough body play, primal play, authority exchange, and the deep responsibility that comes with holding power in an intimate space. We also explore how BDSM can create catharsis, healing, and a kind of spiritual presence when people feel safe enough to be fully in their bodies and fully with each other. After Urbana High School to became the first Frederick County team to win a state championship in girls lacrosse, the coach of the Hawks, Ryan Hines, his daughter, Josey, a senior attack, and Colby Johnson, a senior attack, are this week's guests on The Final Score podcast. The trio chats with host Greg Swatek about the significance of the achievement and the significance of the breakthrough, finally getting past Broadneck after the Bruins had knocked them out in closely contested state finals in each of the last two seasons. They describe the dramatic final minute of the state-quarterfinal win over Broadneck and how the team maintained its poise and determination and positive frame of mind when the momentum of the game had switched against them, potentially setting the stage for more heartbreak. Johnson describes what it was like to sprint the length of the field and score the game-winning goal with seven seconds to play. The players and Hines also talk about finishing the job with victories over Perry Hall and Leonardtown in the state semifinals and championship game, respectively, and what the future holds now that they have achieved this remarkable feat.
Tonight, on The Panel, Wallace Chapman is joined by panellists Aimie Hines and Ed McKnight First up, a Budget 2026 debriefing this time looking at the politics of it all: is this an election winning budget? The panel is joined by political commentator Grant Duncan. Then, children with parents in prison are serving an invisible sentence. That's the stark callout from a organisation which provides support to some of the 25 thousand or so children in that category. They say that hardship starts from the moment a parent is sentenced - and they've come up with a plan to change that. The panel is joined by Corrina Thompson who leads youth advocacy at Pillars.
In part two, Dame Lynda Topp was fired up at the music awards and attacked the government's spend on the arts. The panel discusses the issues at play with Jesse Austin-Stewart, lecturer at Massey University in the School of Music and Screen Arts, also a composer and music producer. Then, does anyone remember the glory days of the workingmen's club? The cheap pints, the cover bands, the darts. In Hamilton, those days are being reignited with an evening of Pub Olympics. It's a round robin of pool, giant Jenga and more all designed to entice younger members back to the working man's club. The panel talks to Nathan Hartley, manager of the Hamilton Workingmen's Club.

This week Nicola and Di chat with incredible Jodie Hines. Jodie is a wellness entrepreneur, DJ, mother and community builder who has turned many of her life’s challenges into thriving not just surviving. She’s inspiring women through movement, music, connection and resilience. From creating spaces that empower others to navigating personal loss with strength and grace, she brings warmth, energy and authenticity into everything she does. She’s the founder of Positive Energy, where we will be hosting our Over The Back Fence Disco, and we were thrilled to chat with her and share her story. In this episode we hear about Jodie’s beautiful (yet slightly chaotic) upbringing as one of 8 kids. Jodie loved being part of a big family and her childhood was full of love and happiness, until at the age of 11, her whole world changed when her dad died by suicide. We talk about the challenging years that followed, with Jodie’s mum remarrying and ending up in a domestically violent relationship. We then hear about Jodie’s own struggles, as she also found herself in not one, but two abusive relationships. Thankfully, Jodie also had a knight in shining armour on her side, and we hear the beautiful love story of the man that helped Jodie escape her dangerous relationship and how they fell in love. The most uplifting thing about Jodie’s story is that she was able to take all of her pain and turn it into purpose. Through her own journey of healing, Jodie discovered so many modalities that help improve someone’s physical and mental wellbeing, and with the support of her husband, she was able to create her dream wellness space, Positive Energy, where she brings all of this together. Jodie’s purpose is to bring people joy, connect them through community and help them feel safe, happy and as though they belong (and she’s certainly succeeded in that!). Her wellness space, Positive Energy, is truly amazing and we couldn’t think of anywhere better to hold our Over The Back Fence Disco. And what better than to have Jodie be the DJ at the event! We absolutely loved chatting to Jodie, hearing her inspiring story and we are thrilled to be able to share it with you. We hope you love it! We’ve created a special offer for our Back Fence listeners to use at Positive Energy. Listeners can get a 10 class pack for $150 (save $90) or 25% off an unlimited membership for 3 months. Use code: BACKFENCEPE to activate your special offer. We'd love you to join us for our Backfence Disco on Friday, May 29th at Positive Energy in Sydney. It's going to be such a fun night and we can't wait to dance the night away with you in person! Are you drowning in unmanageable debt, trying to outrun compounding interest, or tapping into your future just to make minimum payments? It's time to stop the bleeding and erase the stigma. For decades, the word "bankruptcy" has been buried under a mountain of shame, myths, and misconceptions —but what if it's actually the ultimate financial off-ramp designed to protect you, hit the reset button, and pave the way to true wealth? In this powerful episode, host Scott Carson sits down with Adrienne Hines, a powerhouse bankruptcy attorney with over 30 years of experience. Known widely as the "Ladylike Lawyer," Adrienne is on a mission to bust the biggest myths surrounding bankruptcy and show Americans how to break free from the trap of predatory interest rates. Whether you are a struggling homeowner, an entrepreneur bouncing back from a bad deal, or someone facing uncontrolled medical bills, Adrienne details the exact rules, timelines, and financial safeguards that are built directly into the U.S. Constitution to give you a fresh start. Adrienne drops an absolute masterclass on navigating the legal system, mapping out how the process works on both the consumer and business sides. Learn the distinct differences between a magical Chapter 7 debt wipeout and a strategic Chapter 13 restructuring. Discover how to completely shield your 401(k) and retirement accounts from collectors, and why taking out a debt consolidation loan might actually be the worst move you could make. If you are ready to remove the emotional clutter of financial stress and shift your path toward building actual wealth, this episode is your blueprint. Key Topics Covered:The $10,000 Rule of Thumb: Adrienne breaks down the exact baseline of when it is time to stop guessing and start consulting a professional. Chapter 7 vs. Chapter 13 Demystified: A comprehensive look at the "magical" Chapter 7 wipeout versus a Chapter 13 reorganization plan. The Income Test & Regional Realities: How household income brackets dictate your filing options, with specific real-world examples. Capitalism, Risk, and the Constitution: Why the Founding Fathers codified bankruptcy laws to promote bold risk-taking and avoid debtors' prisons. The Magic of the Automatic Stay: How uploading your petition instantly freezes foreclosures, sheriff sales, and aggressive garnishments. The High-Income Business Owner Loophole: Discover the critical "50% business debt" caveat that lets high earners bypass traditional means testing. The Top 6 Triggers of Bankruptcy: Debunking the overspending myth by outlining the actual structural causes of American financial stress. The 3-2-240 Tax Discharge Secret: The 5 strict, overlapping IRS rules required to legally wipe out back income taxes through bankruptcy. Protecting the Nest Egg: Why your 401(k) and ERISA retirement accounts are 100% safe—and why cashing them out is a critical error. The Timeline to a 720 Credit Score: A realistic look at buying cars and restoring an elite credit profile much sooner than you think. Bankruptcy is not a death sentence; it is a profound legal tool structured to pull you off the predatory compounding interest merry-go-round. The longer you sit in financial misery, the less time you have to fund your retirement or scale your next big business venture. Take personal responsibility by exploring your rights, mapping out a transparent legal solution, and stepping confidently into your financial future.
