In this episode, Beth Hughes, a true southern belle and boss lady, shares how a dark place in her life was just the nudge she needed to start her soy candle company, Little Light Co, and let her little light shine! For most of her adult life she had been working in corporate America but first tried her hand at soap making on the side which ultimately failed. Not letting that failed attempt get her down, she then channeled her true love of always wanting candles around her, to lead her into figuring out how to make her own non-toxic soy based candles. Episode notes:Beth gives us a look into why she believes that branding is so important when starting your own company, why she scaled her candles down to just 7 signature scents, why she’ll never use florals or foods in her candles, and how making $30,000 in just one year by doing candle making on the side encouraged her to take the leap into going full time into Little Light Co.Beth’s  social links ;Website : http://www.littlelightco.com/aboutInstagram :https://www.instagram.com/littlelightco/Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/littlelightcandleco/?ref=hlHer favorite beauty products :Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar http://bit.ly/3ddb3kfDerma Roller http://bit.ly/2IW7AsxOrgaid Organic Sheet Face Masks http://bit.ly/3dbBWFb

Starting a Blog is Possible at ANY AGE | with Beth Djalali of Style at a Certain Age

I sit down with classic style blogger, Beth Jalili of the popular blog, Style At A Certain Age. In a social media and blogging world that seems saturated with twenty-something entrepreneurs, Beth didn’t even START her blogging career, until 50-something. Beth is a wife, mom of 3 grown boys, and is a world traveler. Her leap into social media and blogging happened after her book agent (yes, she’s also a writer!) suggested she start some social media accounts as a way to advertise her book. She had no idea what she was getting into, didn’t even read blogs at the time, but because of her midwestern “GET IT DONE” roots and background, she jumped in with both feet and figured it out along the way. The blog success wasn’t immediate and came with years of hard work which Beth discusses with me on this episode along with some of her social media tips. She now has worked with big brands like Christopher + Banks, Ann Taylor, JC Penney, and just recently landed a gig as an on air guest host personality with the popular shopping network HSN. Beth always had a passion for shopping for clothes and styling them, and her husband Mack joked with her recently that her “passion project” has finally paid off! If you are a die Hard Georgia Bulldog football fan, this podcast episode is for you. Typically on Thursdays, Will Leitch, Scott Duvall & Tony Waller join in previewing the upcoming game that Georgia will be playing. This week, however, the Dawgs are on a bye week. Not even considering taking a week off ourselves, Will decided to have Tony and Scott (two lifelong Georgia fans) rank in order of least objectionable to most objectionable SEC teams, fan bases etcetera. Basically counting it down from 13 to 1 in which schools we actually kind of like to the ones where and 0-8 record in the SEC and finishing with a miserable overall record still wouldn’t be enough to satisfy us. In this episode, Tony will share many stories similar to the one you hear at the start of this episode about the time a DJ tried to play Rocky Top at his wedding to an instance where he literally had Smokey, the Volunteer’s blue tick hound mascot by the collar and was leading him, well, I’ll let him tell the story. We also welcome in a special guest later on the program and she will reveal Scott's #1 most objectionable team in the SEC. Why? Well, she grew up with this school near her backyard across the border in another state and developed her dislike for their color scheme at an early age.
