This week Nicola and Di chat with the fabulous Diane Gilman. Diane is known as the ‘Jean Queen’ and has spent decades proving that age is just a number. From building a fashion empire and revolutionising denim for women, surviving breast cancer and becoming one of the leading voices in the pro-aging movement, Diane keeps reinventing herself at every chapter. Now in her 80s, Diane is showing us how to stay vibrant, visible and unapologetically ourselves. In this episode we hear about Diane’s early life, the way she visualised the life she wanted at the age of 8, dreaming of being a fashion designer in New York, and then how she made it happen! Diane tells us the incredible story of how she found herself designing jeans for some of the most legendary musicians including Janice Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Cher and Rod Stewart, to name a few. We also hear how she got her start on the Home Shopping Network and the way that skyrocketed her career. Always one to believe in herself and back herself, Diane’s story really shows the power of having a positive attitude and putting yourself forward for opportunities. Diane opens up about her cancer diagnosis and the way her treatment transformed her life. You’ll want to hear the amazing story of Sheila and how she changed Diane’s outlook on life forever! We also talk to Diane about her thoughts on aging, why she’s loving it, and how she’s living her best life in her 80s and has no plans of slowing down or going out quietly. Diane is full of so much wisdom and great tips for getting the most out of life. Her energy and enthusiasm is infectious and we were so inspired speaking with her. We hope you have as much fun listening to this as we did! This episode is proudly supported by Montgomery Investment Management, trusted experts helping you build and protect your financial future. It sounds like a court battle is planned in the QVC bankruptcy, in which "vulture investors" that allegedly bought stakes in QVC when it was already financially distressed will put on evidence towards trying to propose a different plan for QVC to exit bankruptcy under which they are paid more than the smooth sail out of bankruptcy the company lawyers would prefer. This kind of contentious litigation will likely be concerning to QVC suppliers, insurers and other interested parties - at a minimum because it is costly and preparation for hearings such as the upcoming distracts bankrupt companies' management. Maybe that is why the planning hearing is so vague as to what is going on, avoiding references to QVC or the Home Shopping Network? I don't know. This hearing seemed exceptionally vague. And I thought I heard a reference to an objection deadline of tomorrow but I am not sure. I think things may be possibly be moving too quickly for there to be time for parties to come forward and be heard in the case. Rhonda Shear in Her Own Words: 'Up All Night' Is Back and She Just Launched Her Own Roku ChannelThe 'Up All Night' host on reboots, reinvention, and why the best is absolutely yet to come.Rhonda Shear has always blazed her own trail. When she auditioned for the hosting role that would make her a late-night icon, she walked in with a curling iron and plugged it in mid-audition. Then she started doing her hair in front of the casting directors. She'd been told too many times that she was too pretty to be funny, so she chose to be outrageous.Shear got the job, of course. For eight years, she hosted Up All Night on USA Network. A generation of horror fans and committed night owls never forgot her. I called her on a recent Monday morning to talk about the show's reboot, her intimate apparel empire, and why, at this stage of her life and career, she has never been more herself.Up All Night originally aired on USA Network from 1989 to 1998. Shear hosted the show for all eight seasons, introducing audiences to horror, B-movies, and the kind of sharp, self-aware comedy that, she'll tell you, the industry wasn't entirely ready for at the time."Back then, women in comedy just were not accepted," she explains. "You were very typecast."Shear defied the stereotypes and was unapologetically funny. She went on to film over 430 episodes, working with several different producers over the show's run. She remembers, "I got to work with some iconic people that all went on to do major amazing things, each one had their own style.""When I go back through this footage, I'm wowed by the things that we were doing. We were so ahead of our time on the show. For example, we were putting commercials within the show. That's the kind of stuff that you see on social media now."USA Network apparently destroyed all the original footage of the show. But Shear, as she has proven repeatedly in her career, is not someone who allows herself to be defeated. "I always save my work," she tells me. "I have tons of all my content. If I could get it or tape it or get it from a producer, I always got stuff." In her contract, she had negotiated two VHS copies of every episode, so there would be one for herself and one for her mother in New Orleans. "So I have all the footage of the show. All of the sketches."Sassier, and Somehow Even Funnier" Fans have been asking for a reboot of Up All Night for decades. Shear never stopped loving the show, either. Even with her own brand she had on the Home Shopping Network, she paid homage to the show that made her famous. She used humor to talk about the intimate apparel products she designed and sold. The catalyst came when Shear started attending fan conventions. "I went to one, and the lines were amazing. I was, like, shocked myself, and fans told us we need to reboot Up All Night."She and her husband had already created a fully equipped media studio called Shear Media Studios. The owner of a home shopping network has filed for bankruptcy. AP correspondent Mike Hempen reports.
Here's something most of us won't admit: we have too much stuff. It’s human nature in the consumer age. You can’t throw a rock in Lafayette without hitting a storage unit. And that’s the stuff that doesn’t fit in our homes. Clutter is the order of the day. In the business world, that translates into noise. We pile on messaging, saying too much when getting straight to the point is the best way to make your case in the market. Less is more, in other words. And my guests today are both in the business of less. Heather Borges is a Lafayette native and registered nurse who spent sixteen years in healthcare. The pandemic brought burnout. Burnout brought reflection. And reflection eventually led her somewhere she didn't expect — professional organizing. In March of 2025, she purchased the Lafayette franchise of Bee Organized, a national company with 40 locations across the US. Heather now helps families and businesses declutter their spaces, navigate major life transitions, and find out what their home actually looks like when you can see it. And her concierge services extend beyond organizing into errand running, seasonal home management, photo organization, and decorating. Every client starts with a consultation, during which Heather's team conducts a personality assessment to understand how the client thinks about their space and what needs to go. Jaci Russo of Brand Russo wants you to cut out the BS and get the message sharp. She’s so serious about it, she trademarked her proprietary approach to marketing: Razor Branding. Jaci grew up in Lafayette and nearly went to law school. She ended up in Los Angeles working with major ad agencies and building brands for clients like Ticketmaster and the Home Shopping Network. Family brought her home, and in 2001 she and her husband Michael co-founded Brand Russo, a strategic branding agency serving clients with multi-million dollar budgets. Ninety percent of those clients are outside Louisiana. Jaci is a Certified Professional Marketer, a co-author, and the host of two podcasts. Out to Lunch Acadiana was recorded live over lunch at Tsunami Sushi in downtown Lafayette. You can find photos from this show by Astor Morgan at itsacadiana.com. Ever wondered how a casual compliment or a brief conversation could shape your career? Networking isn't always about grand gestures or polished pitches—it can be as simple as noticing someone's shoes, discussing the weather, or striking up a chat with the person standing by themselves in a crowded room. Sometimes, the smallest interactions can spark the most meaningful connections. In the latest episode of Where Brains Meet Beauty, host Jodi Katz sits down with Nancy Berger Founder of Start With a Good and Jennifer Parrott CEO of Locks & Mane for an inspiring discussion about the power of authentic relationships. Together they explore how genuine connections—built on generosity, shared stories, and a sense of community—drive success in business and beyond.Success as they reveal throughout the conversation isn't always linear. Nancy once dreamed of being a special education teacher before she found her true calling in publishing, where she helped launch the iconic ‘Allure Best of Beauty' seal. Jennifer's career journey took a few unexpected turns, from being a blackjack and poker dealer to selling door-to-door before she discovered her passion for hair extensions and helping others. Each of their stories reveals a powerful truth that discovering what doesn't align with your purpose can be just as transformative as finding what does. Whether it's Nancy's pivotal meeting with Glamour's publisher Kathy Leventhal or Jennifer's unexpected financial rescue from a Home Shopping Network order, they've learned that resilience and adaptability are essential in overcoming challenges. One of their biggest takeaways? The jobs that don't work out are just as important as the ones that do. Recognizing when something isn't the right fit can be a powerful guide toward discovering your true purpose and when financial setbacks arise, quick thinking, strong relationships, and the ability to pivot can transform potential disasters into opportunities for growth.Throughout this heartfelt episode, Jennifer and Nancy both emphasize the importance of patience and positivity, recognizing that success often takes longer than expected. The key they agree, is to keep moving forward—even when the path ahead feels uncertain.Ready to learn how genuine connections and resilience can propel you forward?

Happy Valentine's Day, Cuties! Donny is NOT farting, but he IS trying to make 9/11 happen, much to Chelsea's chagrin. She approves, however, of shameless self-promotion, so they use this hour to plug their new Youtube channel (subscribe here!) before diving into the surprisingly good “Bridget Jones's Diary.” Donny and Chelsea may not know how to mingle, but they can answer tough questions, such as: how old is Moaning Myrtle and why do British people get to say the C word? And don't be fooled - gym teachers are NOT cute. Buy them some things from the Home Shopping Network.
