As we look at the women listed in Jesus' family tree in Matthew 1, we look at the beautiful truth that while we may be sowing seeds of sorrow, through the grace and power of God, those seeds can miraculously produce an abundant harvest of joy! I know many people who are struggling right now with illness, grief, and financial hardships. Christmas can amplify those times of difficulty, or they can help us refocus on the One who works all things together for His glory, our good, and the furthering of the Gospel. May the seeds of sorrow sown in the soil of God's grace and compassion grow into an abundant harvest of joy!

Rev. Dr. David D. Young begins Advent at the Neighborhood but talking about Generations. Generations— every one is sandwiched between two others. We know those from generations older than ours, and those younger. We can trace our lineage through these generations and identify the parents we came from. Matthew 1 contains a lengthy, detailed account of Jesus’s lineage through three groupings of fourteen. Was Jesus really descended from David? Like us, Jesus is a child of God. That is our identity, right now, right here.
There were over 300 prophecies that came true concerning the Birth of Jesus as the Savior and Messiah. Jesus is in the Royal bloodline of Abraham and King David. He is also in the Divine Bloodline of God. When a person accepts Jesus they accept and are adopted into this bloodline. This brings new life to all who accept Jesus as Lord and Savior.
