Joanna Coles speaks with Andrew Lownie, author of Entitled, about the explosive new revelations tying Prince Andrew to the widening scandal surrounding Jeffrey Epstein—from disturbing details in the Epstein files to allegations that could shake the foundations of the British monarchy. Lownie lays out how Andrew's relationships with Epstein's network allegedly stretched from secret apartments in London to a web of wealthy associates and foreign contacts, raising questions not just about sexual misconduct but about national security and the royal family's long effort to contain the damage. With police questioning, mysterious deaths connected to the saga, and pressure mounting inside Britain's political establishment, the conversation explores how the scandal could reach all the way to King Charles III and the future of the House of Windsor—and why the story may be far from over. The congressional investigation into Jeffrey Epstein has increasingly taken on the appearance of political theater rather than a disciplined effort to uncover the full scope of Epstein's trafficking network. What began as a bipartisan promise to bring transparency to one of the most disturbing criminal cases in modern history has gradually devolved into a spectacle marked by partisan grandstanding, media soundbites, and chaotic hearings. Members of Congress have spent as much time arguing with one another and chasing headlines as they have examining the mountain of evidence tied to Epstein's operation. Witness lists have shifted unpredictably, subpoenas have been issued and contested in dramatic fashion, and committee members have often used hearings as opportunities to score political points rather than pursue methodical investigative work. The result has been an investigation that frequently looks less like a serious congressional probe and more like a stage for political performance.Critics argue that this circus-like atmosphere has undermined the credibility of the investigation and distracted from the core question of accountability for Epstein's crimes and the network that enabled him. Rather than presenting a unified effort to follow the evidence wherever it leads, the investigation has been plagued by conflicting narratives, procedural disputes, and public confrontations that generate headlines but little clarity. Victims' advocates and transparency groups have expressed frustration that the focus often drifts toward political drama instead of the systemic failures that allowed Epstein to operate for years. The chaotic nature of the hearings has also given skeptics ammunition to dismiss the entire process as partisan infighting rather than a legitimate search for truth. In the end, the spectacle threatens to obscure the very purpose of the investigation: establishing how Epstein's trafficking operation persisted for so long and why so many institutions failed to stop it.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-moscow-murders-and-more--5852883/support.
In this episode of Biography Flash, host Marc Ellery examines the March 5, 2026 Substack publication by Barbara Fried, mother of convicted FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, titled "Breaking My Silence – The Untold Story of Sam Bankman-Fried." Marc analyzes why this Stanford law professor chose to publicly speak about her son's conviction and 25-year prison sentence after years of silence, exploring the biographical significance of a mother's voice entering the public record during an ongoing appeal. The episode contextualizes this development within the broader narrative of one of modern history's most spectacular financial frauds and what it reveals about the human dimensions behind headline-making criminal cases.Loved this episode? An independent investigation into the allegations was announced in April 2018 and was conducted by the law firm Perkins Coie.In July 2018, several former wrestlers accused former head coach Russ Hellickson and U.S. representative Jim Jordan, who was an assistant coach at OSU between 1987 and 1994, of knowing about Strauss's alleged abuse but failing to take action to stop it. Jordan has denied that he had any student-athlete report sexual abuse to him.The report, released in May 2019, concluded that Strauss abused at least 177 male student-patients and that OSU was aware of the abuse as early as 1979, but the abuse was not widely known outside of athletics or student health until 1996, when he was suspended from his duties. Strauss continued to abuse OSU students at an off-campus clinic until his retirement from the university in 1998. Public Enemy were revolutionaries – both in their message and their music. In the 1980s and 1990s, they elevated hip-hop to an art form. They did this with Chuck D's booming voice, Flavor Flav's comic levity, and the auditory assault of the Bomb Squad's production. But with that revolution came scandal. Their hype man allegedly tried to shoot his neighbor while high on crack cocaine. Their so-called "Minister of Information" was so controversial that his words alone nearly derailed the group's success. They performed at a prison – after just releasing a song about a prison break. And in the summer of 1989, Public Enemy released a song that was so powerful, it put them in the middle of the cultural zeitgeist at the very moment that it seemed they were splintering apart. A brutal DHS hearing ends a political career, Middle East alliances flip the global order, and the SAVE Act becomes the last stand against election fraud. Tara breaks down how media narratives, foreign policy shifts, and Republican infighting are colliding at once. EPISODE SUMMARY In today's episode, Tara dives into a stunning political collapse at the Department of Homeland Security after explosive testimony about an alleged affair with political operative Corey Lewandowski. The scandal erupts during a tense congressional hearing, raising questions about ethics, leadership, and the political damage done in the middle of major immigration enforcement efforts. Meanwhile, the geopolitical map is shifting fast. Following military strikes against Iran, several Gulf states—including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Bahrain—are quietly aligning with the United States and Israel, offering bases and operational support. Tara explains why this surprising coalition may actually simplify the conflict rather than expand it. At the same time, tension grows with traditional Western allies. Leaders like Keir Starmer face criticism as the United Kingdom and other European governments hesitate to support U.S. operations, sparking debate over whether old alliances are weakening while new ones form in the Middle East. Back in Washington, a political showdown is brewing over election integrity legislation. The SAVE Act could force states to provide voter roll data and require proof of citizenship to vote—potentially reshaping future elections. But Senate leadership battles, including figures like John Thune, John Cornyn, and Lindsey Graham, are threatening to stall it. Finally, Tara looks at rising frustration over judicial decisions in states like South Carolina, where critics say liberal judges are being repeatedly appointed by Republican legislatures despite controversial rulings—including a case where a stabbing suspect was released on minimal bond. It's a chaotic moment in American politics—scandals, shifting alliances, and battles for the future of elections—all colliding at once. SEGMENT HIGHLIGHTS DHS Hearing Explosion A devastating congressional exchange puts DHS leadership under fire after questions about alleged personal misconduct involving Corey Lewandowski. Middle East Alliances Flip Gulf nations quietly move closer to the U.S. and Israel after Iranian attacks across the region. Europe vs. The U.S.? Debate grows as the UK and France hesitate on military cooperation. SAVE Act Power Struggle A major election integrity bill becomes the center of a fierce fight inside the Republican Party. South Carolina's Judicial Controversy Critics say the state's judicial selection system keeps producing soft-on-crime rulings. KEY TAKEAWAYS A DHS scandal erupts during a high-profile congressional hearing. Middle Eastern alliances are shifting in unexpected ways. Western allies face criticism for hesitation in regional conflicts. The SAVE Act could dramatically change U.S. election verification. Judicial appointment systems are facing renewed scrutiny.
A brutal congressional hearing erupts into a political train wreck as Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem faces explosive questions about an alleged affair with political operative Corey Lewandowski. Under oath and under pressure, the moment spirals into a career-ending scandal. Meanwhile, Republicans question a $220 million taxpayer-funded ad campaign promoting border enforcement—and whether the White House, including Donald Trump, ever approved it. Plus: outrage over Democrats' immigration stance, a controversial State of the Union guest tied to a trafficking investigation, and a heated debate about Iran's role as the world's leading sponsor of terrorism. Episode Summary: In this episode, Tara breaks down a stunning moment from a congressional hearing that may have ended the career of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. Democrats confronted Noem under oath about allegations that she had a romantic relationship with longtime political strategist Corey Lewandowski, who was reportedly working alongside her at the Department of Homeland Security. Instead of directly denying the claim, Noem refused to answer the question—triggering a political firestorm and viral media coverage. The controversy intensified as Republican Senator John Kennedy questioned Noem about a $220 million government-funded advertising campaign featuring her prominently—ads critics say looked more like political promotion than immigration messaging. Later in the show, Tara examines broader political fallout: Democratic reactions to border enforcement, allegations involving a controversial State of the Union guest, and a deeper discussion about Iran's role in global terrorism. The episode closes with a preview of explosive historical clips tying past U.S. policy decisions to Iran's missile capabilities. Key Topics Covered: Explosive hearing involving Kristi Noem Affair allegations with Corey Lewandowski DHS leadership crisis and political fallout Senator John Kennedy questions $220M ad campaign Immigration enforcement and ICE challenges State of the Union controversy Debate over Iran's global terrorism role Preview of revelations tied to Barack Obama-era policy decisions

Before Elizabeth I became one of England's greatest monarchs, she faced a scandal that could have destroyed her reputation , and possibly her future. In 1547, after the death of Henry VIII, the young Princess Elizabeth went to live with her stepmother, the dowager queen Catherine Parr. Catherine had secretly married Thomas Seymour, the ambitious uncle of the new king, Edward VI. What followed became one of the most troubling and controversial episodes of Elizabeth's youth. According to sworn testimony later given to the government, Thomas Seymour repeatedly entered the teenage princess's chamber early in the morning and behaved in ways that alarmed members of the household. Rumours spread, servants were questioned, and eventually the government became involved. When Seymour was arrested for treason in 1549, Elizabeth herself was interrogated. In this video, we explore the evidence, the testimonies, and the political crisis surrounding the Thomas Seymour scandal, and examine how this early experience may have shaped Elizabeth's famous caution and determination to control her own life. #ElizabethI #TudorHistory #ThomasSeymour #EdwardVI #TudorScandal #HistoryExplained

When I first came up for the idea for the Culture Study Romance Book Club back in January, I knew I wanted every edition to have two books: one contemporary, and one historical. Part of this desire was selfish (I personally gravitate towards historicals) but I also wanted to explore the contrast between what you can do with a romance set in the past (with its particular confines) and one set in the present (with seemingly none, but actually so many). I also knew that I wanted to start with M/M romances (hi, Heated Rivalry) and that Melody had sung the very loud praises of renowned historical queer romance author Cat Sebastian's mid-century queer romance — particularly You Should Be So Lucky, which managed to combine baseball (one of Melody's true loves) with romance (Melody's secondary love). And listeners, I hope this is clear: when it comes to so many things, but romance in particular, I listen to Melody! And when Melody asked if we should try and get Cat on the pod, I said "obvi please try." AND THEN SHE MADE IT HAPPEN. This remains a total marvel of hosting a podcast: sometimes the people you admire so deeply... can also come on your pod. This is a long preamble to the overarching point: Cat Sebastian isn't just an absurdly talented (and successful) author of queer historical romance. She's also whipsmart when it comes to the crafting of these romances, the idea of vibes vs. plot (and third act break-ups in particular), how she translates the historical record, and so much more. This pod is for you if you're at all interested in romance, obviously, but also if you're at all interested in how we think about the past as a narrative playground. Final note: We had such a good time recording this episode and laughed one billion times — I hope that joy translates when you listen! GREAT NEWS: WE HAVE VERY GOOD EPISODE TRANSCRIPTS NOW! They come out within 24 hours of the pod, so you just have to be a little patient and then come back and click here. Alexander; When the Tides Held the Moon by Venessa Vida Kelley; and An Island Princess Starts a Scandal by Adriana HerreraWe're currently looking for your questions for future episodes about:HISTORICAL GOSSIP! We're talking with Nichole Hill, host of Our Ancestors Were Messy, about hot, messy, ideologically fascinating world of Black gossip columns during the golden era of Black newspapers (1930 to 1960). What do you want to know about how the Black press worked during this era — and how gossip in particular worked (both about stars, local celebrities, and normal people?) There's so much here!!!HILARY DUFF!!! The comeback, the new album, let's talk about all of it — with Hilary Duff expert/forever-fan ALLIE JONES (also Melody loves Hilary Duff so much and will be very sad if we don't get enough questions for this episode) Conversion Therapy (how it affects people late into life, how it still exists, etc. etc — we're talking to Timothy Schraeder Rodriguez about his new book, Conversion Therapy Dropout, and there are so many connections to the ways the current administration is currently trying to "de-trans" people in custody) KID INFLUENCERS — what happens when your parent puts you on camera before you can really consent? We're talking with the author of a new book about the ramifications of growing up within these worlds — it's gonna be so good. Anything you need advice for/want musings about for the AAA segment. You can ask about anything, it's literally the name of the segment. As always, you can submit your questions (and ideas for future eps) hereFor this week's discussion: OH MY GOD WE COULD TALK FOREVER! If you could set a queer romance at any time, when would it be? What would your characters be doing, and how would they fill their days? Also who wants to be best friends with Cat (me)
Joe Lunardi's latest Bracketology The Alabama Crimson Tide is coming off their road win at The Tennessee Volunteers and now must follow it up with a road win at the Georgia Bulldogs where Alabama Basketball is favored by 1.5 points. With a win, Alabama locks up second place in the SEC The Crimson Tide (12-4) holds the tie breakout over Arkansas Basketball and is two games clear of the next group at 10-6 so, a tie would favor Alabama. SEASON 4 EPISODE 65: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (2:30) SPECIAL COMMENT: We rejoin your regularly scheduled Trump-Epstein Cover-up Scandal Show, already in progress! Trump’s disastrous attack on Iran – approved by only 27% of America and barely HALF OF REPUBLICANS, so DIDN'T move the needle that Trumpstein has erupted anew in New Mexico: The former Attorney General essentially accuses the Trump Department of Justice of SABOTAGING his investigation of Epstein’s Zorro Sex Trafficking Ranch in 2019; of telling him ‘we’ll just take it from here’ and instead burying it. They took all the evidence and simply did nothing. When New Mexico went back a year later and said 'seize the ranch, preserve the evidence' they were again ignored. And after a New York Times deep dive on all the non-sex allegations and involvements, an entire new Epstein realm has opened up: what about the thousands of Epstein's non-sex crimes and co-conspirators? Why hasn't Trump prosecuted them? Plus, all the attack on Iran did was remind the world that if WE can try REGIME CHANGE in other countries, what’s to stop OTHER COUNTRIES from trying REGIME CHANGE? And I’ll say it again: They called it ‘Operation Epic Fury’ because ‘Operation Epstein Diversion’ didn’t sound War-fightery enough. And media fails us yet again: CNN will now go the same Bari Weiss Way of CBS. Then again it was three-quarters dead already, and the real crisis is MS-NOW's president thought the future of her network (basically unchanged since we spun off my guest hosts Maddow, O'Donnell and Hayes to give them new shows in 2010) was...Anderson Cooper LOL. B-Block (43:00) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Postscripts to the US Olympic Hockey disaster include cheap jokes about Auston Matthews' hairline. Trump flunky Alina Habba retweets a call for violence against a judge. And the Worst Persons GOAT Bill O'Reilly is back from purgatory to win for the first time in years! Right you are, Mr. Mehoffer! C-Block (58:30) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: I told a friend the story of the day I met the incomparable actor and character Walter Matthau and how he used to do impressions of sportscasters - so I'll tell you.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Sarah and Susie are participating in an unconventional macabre game when they predict which celebrities will die this year, but Sarah argues it's a "celebration of life." We debate the Tourette's Syndrome scandal at the BAFTAs and consider what the appropriate way to handle it was. Susie shares a story of a woman who's AI chatbot started claiming she would meet her soulmate at a particular time and place, and, spoiler alert, she didn't, but now she's raising alarm bells about the persuasive nature of AI and LLMs. We discuss the Olympic skater known as the Quad God and his disappointing performance in Madrid, and we learn the science of "choking" when put under pressure and techniques to help prevent the "yips," or choking when stressed. Susie describes The Queen of Chess documentary, the sexism in the sport, the little girl who beat Bobby Fisher's 30-year record, and why grown men are petrified of losing to a girl.Brain Candy Podcast Website - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/Brain Candy Podcast Book Recommendations - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/books/Brain Candy Podcast Merchandise - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/candy-store/Brain Candy Podcast Candy Club - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/product/candy-club/Brain Candy Podcast Sponsor Codes - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/support-us/Brain Candy Podcast Social Media & Platforms:Brain Candy Podcast LIVE Interactive Trivia Nights - https://www.youtube.com/@BrainCandyPodcast/streamsBrain Candy Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastHost Susie Meister Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterHost Sarah Rice Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBrain Candy Podcast on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodBrain Candy Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/braincandy (JOIN FREE - TONS OF REALITY TV CONTENT)Brain Candy Podcast Sponsors, partnerships, & Products that we love:Get $30 off your first box - PLUS free Croissants for life - when you go to https://wildgrain.com/braincandy to start your subscription today! This episode is sponsored by Betterhelp.
