She was high above the treeline, so it was just past 6am. The last thing she recalled from the evening before, was Bethany mentioning she needed to get to the bookstore before it closed at 8pm. Elizabeth drove her back to campus.“Damn! I slept 10 hours!”She made a stop in the bathroom, then went to the kitchen to make herself an omelet. As she waited on breakfast, she checked her phone. There was a text, from Erica, inviting her to join a private Facebook group with her summer school classmates from last night. That's when she realized she was now part of a very special group of dear friends.Clicking through, she joined and then dished up her breakfast and coffee. As she ate, she noticed there was already an active thread on the group page, started by Malcolm. He thanked everyone for making this summer class so rewarding, and made a particular expression of his appreciation to Rebecca for the great hospitality at her home.Rebecca posted a ‘heart' on his comment, and noticed it already had 7 ‘Likes'.Then she noticed she had 11 friend requests. Yep, all of her classmates were ahead of her. Having confirmed all of them, she returned to the group posts and noticed Devon just posted his own expression of deep gratitude, and hoped they would all stay in touch, at least for the summer.That's when Rebecca decided she had a unique opportunity, because of the great condo she had all to herself. She clicked on Bethany's profile and saw her latest post. It was published just 3 minutes ago. Flipping to her Messenger app, she called Bethany, hoping to talk.After just one ring, Bethany's voiced cheerfully greeted; “Rebecca! How are you?”Hi, Bethany. Oh, I can't believe I slept 10 hours! But I feel great! Did I call too early?“No, I have to train at 6am, with the volleyball team.” Bethany assured her. “Are you sore, too, girl?”“Oh, good! It's not just me.” Rebecca chuckled. “If an athlete like you is hurting from a workout, I feel like I'm in good company.”“Oh, yeah, I have some of that, but mostly I feel very stretched out by a certain somebody's scepter.”“Ah, yeah. Devon was your lab partner. So sorry for your pain.” Rebecca consoled.“Hell, girl! Don't feel too sorry for me. I'll take this agony any day, if it comes with the kind of bliss I felt yesterday afternoon.” Bethany gushed.“That good, huh? Well, let me tell you why I called.” Rebeca changed the topic. “First, thanks so much for our help with the impromptu gathering. You're so easy to work with, and I can tell you really enjoy it.”“Oh, thanks. Yes, my mother trained me to do hospitality well, it's sort of a matriarchal tradition in our family. I'd be happy to do it again.” Beth offered.“You were reading my mind, girl.” Rebecca was relieved. “I sorta think we should talk about that. Are you free to come by sometime soon? I can feed you lunch?”“Well, I have a lot on my plate, today, but I think I can swing by after our finals, next Monday; say, around 12:30?”“Oh, goody! Let's do this!” Should we include anyone else?” Rebecca wanted to be considerate.“Well;” Beth paused. “I'd really like to have a lunch with all the girls, but It's not my place to impose on you.”“Oh, duh! Why didn't I think of that?” Rebecca slapped her forehead. “I'll reach out to the other 4 girls, but I'll have to apologize for the short notice. I better get right on it. Bye!”“12:30, Monday. Bye!” Bethany said and hung up.Rebecca started a group private message and sent it to all the girls, including Bethany. Surprisingly, all 6 girls were confirmed, although Erica said she'd be a little late, cuz she had to be somewhere from 12 to 12:45.Monday morning Rebecca made a quick grocery delivery order on her app, and met the driver in the lobby around 9:45. Pasta salad and fresh veggies. Rebecca kept it simple.The last sex class session was at 11am. It was a written test. Everyone was buck naked anyway, either from habit or horniness. You were the first students to take the course, at any university in North America. We won't violate your privacy, but our review will include some rather vague details about our students; particularly the variety of students and some personal challenges. We will send a draft to the individuals we may vaguely describe, but the public will not even know which university conducted this experimental class.Antonio Garza added; “You all played a part in developing a very cutting edge educational format, and we expect all the other researchers to be as impressed as we are.”After they were dismissed, the coeds rushed out for their designated gathering. Michelle and Elizabeth were first to arrive at Rebecca's Park Plaza condo. The three chatted on the sofas until Bethany arrived, and Alexis arrived a minute later. They all sat around the dining room table, chatting while eating. Without the guys there, the conversation was quite different. First they all talked about how sore their cunts were, last Friday. Pastor Tommy emphasizes that Jesus is touched by our infirmities and cares about our lives, encouraging listeners to approach Him with boldness and faith. Jesus' Compassion and Empathy Jesus is touched by our infirmities: Quoting Hebrews 4:15, "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities." He understands what we go through and is able to help in times of need. A cry for mercy moves Jesus: The story of blind Bartimaeus in Mark 10 is used as an example. Bartimaeus cried out, "Thou son of David, have mercy on me," and Jesus stopped for him. Emphasizes that earnest cries to God still move Him to respond and help. Acts of faith touch Jesus: The story of the woman with the issue of blood is referenced. She believed that touching the hem of Jesus' garment would heal her. "If I could just touch the hem of His garment, I know that I'll be made whole." Jesus felt power leave Him and turned to find out who touched Him. Faith intersects with God's faithfulness to create miracles. The Centurion's faith: The Centurion's faith in Luke 7 is highlighted. The Centurion believed Jesus could heal his servant from a distance by just saying the word. "I am not worthy that you come under my roof. But...if you'll just say the word...my servant will be healed." Jesus marveled at the Centurion's great faith, "I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel." Pastor Tommy expresses a desire for people to believe God in such a way that He marvels at their faith. Unbelief makes Jesus marvel: In Mark 6:6, Jesus marveled because of the unbelief of the people in his hometown. He was limited in what he could do because people didn't believe. Pastor Tommy expresses a desire to not have Jesus marvel at their unbelief after all the blessings and help He has provided. Hardness of hearts angers Jesus: Reference to Mark 3:5, where Jesus was angry and grieved by the hardness of hearts of the Pharisees. They were more concerned about the Sabbath than the man with the withered hand. "He looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts." Pastor Tommy urges listeners to ask God to search their hearts and remove any wickedness that leads to hardness of heart. Suffering saints move Jesus: The story of Stephen in Acts 7 is used as an example. Stephen, while being stoned, looked up to heaven and saw Jesus standing at the right hand of God. The suffering of those who are martyred or suffer for the cause of Christ still moves God today. Pastor Tommy believes Jesus has stood up for them in times of suffering. Jesus weeps: Jesus wept at the tomb of Lazarus (John 11:33, 35). He was moved by the weeping of Mary and the other Jews. "When Jesus therefore saw her weeping...He groaned in the spirit and was troubled. And...Jesus wept." He wept not for Lazarus, but for those still alive and grieving. Jesus wept over Jerusalem (Luke 19:41). He was moved by the lost souls in the city. "When He was come near, He beheld the city, and wept over it." Pastor Tommy believes Jesus is still touched by the lost people in the world and the lack of people willing to share the gospel. Conclusion and Invitation Come boldly to the throne of grace: Based on Hebrews 4:16, knowing that Jesus is touched by our infirmities, we can come boldly to the throne of grace. "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." We can take our cares and troubles to Him, knowing He cares and is touched by what we are going through.

Israel, it seems, is once again on the brink of a cease-fire deal with Hamas – one that would see hostilities halted for at least two months, and an exchange of Palestinian prisoners for Israeli hostages. But as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump talk particulars in Washington, the families of the 50 remaining hostages are far from relieved. The deal on the table would only bring home 10 of the living hostages, and the remains of 18 of the deceased – leaving the fate of the 22 others in question. Aviva Siegel was kidnapped on October 7 from Kibbutz Kfar Azza along with her husband, Keith. She was released after 51 days, and campaigned tirelessly for Keith's release. After he came home in February, the reunited couple have fought for the return of the remaining hostages in Gaza. Siegel joins Haaretz reporter Linda Dayan to talk about this deal, captivity, adjusting to freedom and the urgency of bringing every hostage home. "Nobody's really talking about what's going to happen after the 10 [living hostages] come home, and half the hostages that aren't alive," Siegel says. "I've asked important people if they can answer that, because it's a question that I think about all the time, and I'm very, very worried." On what may be the eve of a historic decision, she says that she would tell decision-makers – at home and abroad – her own story, and ask them how they can abandon the hostages who remain there, like 27-year-old twin brothers Gali and Ziv Berman. "I was there for the 51 days. I felt that I was left behind," she recounted. "And there were so many moments that I lost hope and I just wanted to die. What I saw in Gaza and what I felt was so much for a human being to go through. I just wanted to die. So I want the leaders to understand that they have to take responsibility – I'm just an ordinary person, and I just want my life back." Read OnlineJesus entered the house of Peter, and saw his mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. He touched her hand, the fever left her, and she rose and waited on him. Matthew 8:14–15How do we properly respond to the action of God in our lives? In the passage above, we are given the witness of Peter's mother-in-law to answer that question. It should be noted that Jesus was on a continual mission of healing. In fact, before arriving at the house of Peter, Jesus had just healed a centurion's servant. When the centurion came to Jesus stating that he was not even worthy to have Him enter his house, Jesus saw the centurion's faith and healed his servant from a distance. After arriving at the house of Peter, we are told that many people brought to Jesus those who were possessed by demons, and Jesus healed them all. But between the healing of the servant and the healings of the many, another healing occurred. The response to this healing sets for us a wonderful example.Peter's mother-in-law was ill and in bed with a fever. It's unclear just how ill she was, but the fact remains that she was ill to the point of being in bed. Notice, first, that Jesus was not even asked to heal her. Rather, He “saw” her ill and in bed, approached her of His own choosing, “touched her hand,” and she was healed.Within the same sentence describing Jesus' healing, we are told that “she rose and waited on him.” First of all, “she rose.” This should be seen as a symbolic depiction of what we must do when we are touched by grace. The grace of God, when it is given to us, must have the effect of causing us to rise. We rise from sin when we confess that sin and receive forgiveness, especially in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We rise up every time God enters our lives to give us direction, clarity and hope. To rise is to be strengthened to dispel the burden that sin and confusion causes. We rise in strength, renewed and determined to go about the will of God.After this woman rose, she “waited” on Jesus. This is the reason we rise up when touched by grace. We are not given God's grace so that we can go back to our sin, or pursue our own ventures, or do our own will. We rise so that we can serve our Lord and His holy will. In a sense, Jesus' actions in our lives impose upon us a holy burden. But it is a burden that is light. It's an obligation to serve and give ourselves to our Lord to attend to Him, His holy will, and to all that He calls us to do.Reflect, today, upon this threefold action of the Gospel. See Jesus approaching you and touching you in your prayer. Know that He comes to you not only because you pray to Him but out of His own initiative when He sees you will respond. Then consider your response. Rise from that which keeps you down. Let God's grace free you from the burdens you carry. And as He grants you this grace, determine to wait on Him and to serve His will alone. The service of our Lord is what we are made for, and doing so will enable us to continually receive His grace through His touch of love.My merciful Jesus, You continually come to me, approaching me to reach out and touch me with Your grace. You desire my healing and strengthening every day. Help me to be open to all that You wish to bestow and please free me from all that keeps me down. May I rise up in service of You and Your holy will so that Your Kingdom may be built up more fully through me.
