This week we've got a delightful holiday special with comedian Michelle Azevedo. Michelle and Chloe talked about oh so much including whether or not you need to have a healthy childhood in order to have healthy childhood friendships and why her sister refers to Michelle's childhood as her ‘dog years'.Michelle AzevedoChloe MaddrenThe Friend Request Patreon Hosted on Acast. This week's story comes from Sam Bowden Feat. Michelle Azevedo, two very funny comedians and writers. Sam was keen to share an embarassing story from his youth. It is a story as old as time itself, boy meets girl, boy falls in love, boy makes a fool of himself and they live happily NEVER after. Great chat with funny banter thrown in. This one was recorded a little closer to the release date than the last few. There are microwave and dish noises in the background of the call but it's all part of the charm. I think I forgot to actually introduce the show, but if you go listen to another episode you can hear what the introduction is meant to be. This fortnight's Cook Blub is about the first book in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. Michelle Azevedo joins us to talk about the book's relationship to the original radio plays, just how joke-dense this book is, the ~themes~, as well as what we can take away ~as readers~. We talk about dumb bullshit as well, but we strike a good balance, I think. Dan Dennis is on next fortnight to talk about Lost Connections by Johann Hari, which is a book about depression, but the episode is still fun, I promise. That's available from the BCC library as both a book and an ebook. Michelle's Twitter Michelle's Facebook Joel's Twitter Joel's Facebook Ryan Sim made the logo! Thank you Ryan! Alright, look, we're talking about Lolita, it's dicey stuff, but it's fine! It's a good book! The point is that the narrator is insanely cooked! Sam Bowden and I talk about all that and more, including Jeffrey Epstein, even though this podcast was recorded months ago. Weird timing. Next fortnight's book is Douglas Adams' sci-fi satire the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and my guest is Michelle Azevedo. Again, you'd be able to find that at the library or wherever. I make fun jokes on there. Ryan Sim made the logo! Thank you Ryan! Pay him to design something for you. Ryan's graphic design page Subscribe to the podcast, rate and review etc.

A spooooooky and tiiiiiiiimely Halloween episode! I really like Winona Ryder ESPECIALLY when she is stealing shit. But the only thing Stranger Things stole from me was my time AND I WANT IT BACK. Come listen as I get mad about the bad show that really encapsulates the "Content" culture we're living in. Put the coin in the slot, get some candy for your brain. We're all just mice in the Zuckerberg experiment. Anyway, return guest Michelle Azevedo battles me, insults me, and resorts to name calling in her frustration, but she can Finn my Wolfhard for all I care. We talk about all the Louis CK stuff up top coz it had literally just happened and I was real mad about it. Keep listening though, most of the episode is about that dumb fucking show everyone seems to love.
Super not sure about this one. Definitely our most questionable episode thus far, and that's after I edited out a bunch of career-ending stuff. To be fair, we are talking about a film about a murderous clown hungry for children's blood. Michelle Azevedo joins host Ryan Sim and our first return guest, Joel Batham, to defend her love of this movie, which is best described, academically, as "long and shitty." We really get into the psychology of this one, and it's actually kind of interesting, but then we also make jokes about John Wayne Gacy, just so you know what you're signing up for. I had two glasses of white wine before we recorded this.
Our feature story this episode is from comic/musician/all-round champion Michelle Azevedo (@shellyveeds) & it's quite a heavy investigation of mental health, family dynamics & being displaced. We invited guest Stephen Smith (@styvensmythe) to come and talk around some of the themes of Michelle's story and for some reason we end up talking about food a lot.
Joel is joined by Michelle Azevedo fresh off a trip to the USA, and Michael Griffin glowing with his newfound fame as a face of the #NotMyDebt Centrelink scandal, discussing bigamy, Michael's shameful dole-bludging ways, the PEOTUS' supposed love of watersports, and, of course, a OWB favourite is firmly back on his bullshit. Joel is joined by Michelle Azevedo and a somewhat grouchy Sam Bowden to discuss Bowser Bongs, D.I.N.O.S.A.U.R.S and a Vine, plus a new closing segment is debuted. Notes: Bowden said a bunch of shit that absolutely had to be edited out; The Vine we discuss is here: https://vine.co/v/5dtxDXqrBLP
Jack and Joel are joined in the studio by return guest Michelle Azevedo. They have an in-depth discussion on mining and environmental policy at Jack's behest, try to work out whether commenters on the Brisbane Times can read, and Joel introduces a new segment.
The two woke boys (and best friends!: Joel Batham and Jack Gramenz) are joined by a third friend, comedian Michelle Azevedo. The three of them decide what they reckon about deflation, discuss ANZAC day takes, examine a former Prime Minister's stance on squirting, and give a broad overview (with riffing!) of the 2009 Shane Jacobson / Paul Hogan film "Charlie & Boots"... for way too long.
