Timestamp to skip straight to the case: (8:31) Welcome back to another episode of the True Crime Society Podcast. In July 2021, Katie and Bowie were taking a late-night walk through Piedmont Park in Atlanta, Georgia. This was their routine as Katie worked as a bartender. When Katie did not arrive as scheduled to pick up her partner Emma from work, Emma set out to look for her. She used a phone tracking app and discovered that Katie's phone was in Piedmont Park. Emma went to the park and there she discovered the lifeless bodies of both Katie and Bowie. Katie had been brutally stabbed to death - she had 50 stab wounds to her face, neck and torso. The letters F A T had also been carved into her body. Now, four years later, the murders of Katie and Bowie remain unsolved. A $25,000 reward is being offered for information in the case. In this episode Steve laments the loss of an old friend, a monthly visitor to which he contributed a fairly large portion of his working career, a friend whose blank pages Steve turned, each month, into essays, exposes and bites of entertainment for thousands of hound-hungry subscribers over a nearly fifty-year history. UKC announced recently that it will no longer publish their house organ Coonhound Bloodlines after the first of the year. The episode also contains a White River Refuge 2025 preview, a letter from old friend Bubba Back Home, a report on Ghost the wonder dog and a congratulatory message to the brand new UKC World Champions. The episode concludes with a tutorial on coon skinning for those wishing to take a Foxfire-type approach to coon hunting the way Deddy did it. We would like to thank those who support this podcast. In this episode of the Puppy Training Podcast, Amy from BAXTER & Bella explores one of the most underrated—but life-changing—skills you can teach your dog: how to do nothing. From understanding what “settling” really means to learning how to train calmness step-by-step, Amy breaks down the process of helping your dog relax on cue. You'll hear practical tips for teaching your pup to rest calmly at your feet, wait patiently in real-life settings, and develop emotional balance in an often overstimulating world.Plus, Amy shares common pitfalls to avoid, like accidentally rewarding excitement, expecting too much too soon, or turning “settle” into a correction rather than a cue for relaxation.Whether you have a high-energy puppy or an easily overstimulated adult dog, this episode will help you create a calmer, happier home—one peaceful moment at a time.

The show opened with news of a bomb threat in Tarzana and a rundown of rising costs in Los Angeles—parking fees, trash, LADWP bills, and now even marriage licenses. A heartwarming story followed as a California dog was reunited with its owner after being found in Chicago, sparking talk about how the pup got there and whether dogs are on the verge of “speaking.” Later, conversation turned to DoorDash rolling out new delivery robots, and the show wrapped with a push to sign up for the Morongo event via @Conwayshow social media.

EPYSODE 56: "The New Hovering Dog" by B.J. Cole. Guest: B.J. Cole. Additional commentary by my twin brother Maurice. This week we explore the adventurous 1972 solo album from legendary pedal steel guitarist BJ Cole. Known for his groundbreaking work with artists like Elton John, David Gilmour, and John Cale, BJ Cole fused progressive rock, country, and experimental textures into one of the most unique records of the early '70s. With exclusive commentary from BJ Cole himself, we uncover the inspirations, studio sessions, and collaborations that brought this cult classic to life. From its dazzling pedal steel work to its eclectic songwriting, this album remains a hidden gem for vinyl collectors and prog-country enthusiasts alike. This week, I talk to Seth Neblett (the son of the queen of funk, Mallia Franklin of Parliament-Funkadelic & Parlet & author of his new book Mothership Connected: The Women of Parliament-Funkadelic). We talk about how Seth was convinced by Bootsy Collins to tell his mother and the women of P-Funk's stories, how he initially assumed this tale was going to be told as a documentary, Mallia Franklin's appearance in the Don Letts docuemntary Tales Of Dr. Funkenstein, Seth (at age 6) being taken by his grandmother to go watch his mom perform with Parliament/Parlet for the first time, how he was able to narrow down this immense story from all the hudnreds of characters in this group's varied history, the strgggles with having your Mom be a recording and touring star, how Mallia Franklin brought elements to the band that changed music FOREVER, George Clinton and his initial band The Parliments, how Mallia's vocals are all over their recoridngs from Maggot Brain to Atomic Dog, the vast age diffrerences within the band, Mallia being called "the geiger counter" because her musical institncts were so incredible on who to bring into the p-funk world (like Bootsy Collins & Junie Morrison), how we often take a documentary's storytelling a the truth, being the "Dog & Cat Lady", why you can see so many full concert footage from Parliment's heyday, Neil Bogart of Casblanca Records and the courting of Mallia Fraklin, the genesis of the female-led spin off groups Parlet and Brides Of Funkenstein, why George Clinton put all various bands on diffferent record labels, how Geroge often didn't want his various bands to get bigger than him, how young the members of P-Funk were and how they often were not prepared for the psychological components of being part of it, Seth's thoughts on following up the book with a documentary vs a narritave series, how the women of P-Funk were not being invited to the induction ceremonies of the Grammys and Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, who should play his mom in the movie version of this story and more.So let's celebrate the queens of P-Funk forever on this week's episode of Revolutions Per Movie.SETH NEBLETT: Book: https://utpress.utexas.edu/9781477332672/Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@sethneblett7268REVOLUTIONS PER MOVIE:Host Chris Slusarenko (Eyelids, Guided By Voices, owner of Clinton Street Video rental store) is joined by actors, musicians, comedians, writers & directors who each week pick out their favorite music documentary, musical, music-themed fiction film or music videos to discuss. The 97-year-old legend visited with 12th Man Productions' Will Johnson a few years back and we spotlight that now on this episode of Recall.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

My guest is DJ Shipley, a former Tier 1 operator Navy SEAL and now a top public educator on how to build mental and physical health and reach top-level performance in any endeavor. DJ's life is one marked by extraordinary strivings, wins, setbacks and comebacks that together have shaped his approach to overcoming challenges of all kinds and to daily life. DJ explains a regimen of clear, practical steps and a mental stance that can allow anyone—male, female, young or old—to build extreme resilience of mind and body and to be successful in family and work. We also discuss his experience with new, emerging treatments for addiction, PTSD and depression that many people, not just veterans, are benefiting from.
