Posted and Toasted returns with a collection of old posts that somehow gets stranger with every reveal. Evan Roberts quizzes Tiki Barber and Shaun Morash on John Harbaugh's cluttered draft setup, New Jersey gas stations, Boomer Esiason's inexplicable Westminster Dog Show tweet and Evan's unforgettable theory about a sex doll named Gertrude. The conversation also turns to electric cars after Evan reveals he is finally making the switch, before a caller proposes a bold Mets trade for Tarik Skubal with the goal of securing a contract extension before a potential lockout. Evan explains why the creative plan is unnecessary and why Skubal would still be destined to test free agency.

Mary Beth Barone jokes about dog training in her Netflix special, "Galaxy Brain".
Dog trainers commonly refer to “fallout” in relation to certain tools or procedures for behavior change. This is not untrue or unreasonable, fallout definitely occurs often in behavior change. But rather than the dichotomous thinking that leads us to believe some things cause fallout and others don't, Sarah suggests in this episode that all things cause side effects and we should always pay attention to them. Jacob is joined by Simon Collings of The Sun — one of the most well-connected journalists covering Arsenal day to day. Pre-season is underway, Tzolis is in training, and the transfer room is absolutely nuts. Here's what's inside:
Just a few months ago, it seemed like we had a lot to look forward to in MMA. You had Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano set to do the damn thing in MVP's inaugural event. You had the UFC getting ready to go big at the White House. You even had the much-anticipated, loooooooong-awaited return of Conor McGregor. Today? Well, you've got Islam Makhachev vs. Ian (whispers: Machado) Garry and Mackenzie Dern vs. Gillian Robertson coming up in mid-August but, other than that, there's just not a lot on the schedule. Last weekend, Magomed Ankalaev went out there and did Magomed Ankalaev stuff (which is to say, not much) to score a potentially meaningless win over Bogdan Guskov (who did even less!). Next week, you've got Uroš Medić vs. Daniel Rodriguez and the week after that it's Mateusz Gamrot vs. Quillan Salkilld. So, this episode we discuss being mired in the dog days of MMA summer and what we might have to look forward to coming up in the fall and winter. Learn more about your ad choices. Marilyn Gilchrist is a professional dog trainer, and "Who Am I Now" is her conversation with Michael Shikashio, lifted from his podcast The Bitey End of the Dog. Kevin Allison sets it up and returns at the end with his own thoughts. This is a companion episode to Still Dog People: Two Truths, released earlier in the week. (Content note: graphic dog attack) An hour into a routine welfare check on a foster dog, Marilyn stood up to leave. The dog grabbed the lead, she dropped it exactly as she had twice already that afternoon, and every muscle in the dog went tense. The weeks after taught her that the wound in her leg was the smaller problem. She had built a career and a self on being good with dogs, and now she could not be in a room with one she did not know. "A Little Person in a Dog Body": Inside the Whimsical World of the Dandie Dinmont Terrier [caption id="attachment_16952" align="alignleft" width="300"] Sandy Wolfskill showing a Dandie to Anne Katona.[/caption] Pure Dog Talk host Laura Reeves sits down with Elfwish Kennels' Sandy Wolfskill to explore the art of preservation breeding, global pedigree collaboration and what it truly takes to safeguard the historic Dandie Dinmont Terrier for the next generation. This episode of the Dandie Dinmont Terrier Diaries is part of Pure Dog Talk's Clubhouse. The series features members of the Club Partnership Program who are working to preserve the knowledge of their legacy breeders. From Corgis to Dandies:Sandy shares how a ring-stewarding gig in Pennsylvania first introduced her to Dandie Dinmont Terriers, detailing how she fell in love with their "little person in a dog body" personality before acquiring her first Dandie bitch from Betty-Anne Stenmark in 2004.A Global Preservation Network:Sandy emphasizes the power of international breeding partnerships, highlighting her work with Emma Greenway in Australia and her decision to transfer the Elfwish Frozen Semen Bank to Harriet Buckley in England to empower the next generation of breeders. The Pillars of Breed Type:Drawing from author Richard Beauchamp, Sandy breaks down the five core pillars of breed type: character, silhouette, head and expression, a penciled double-coat, and free, smooth movement.Breeding Philosophy and Selection:From running "what-if" pedigrees on her computer to assessing wet puppies the second they are born, Sandy explains why line breeding beats constant outcrossing, and why breeders must be brutally honest about faults, especially when it comes to fronts.Defining Success in the Ring and Home:Sandy explains that preserving this historic Scottish farm dog is about finding a balance between maintaining physical breed standards, preserving correct, livable temperaments, and, above all, having fun.

After the Miami Heat accidentally leak a link to LeBron James's upcoming press conference, Boomer predicts LeBron chooses Miami and Gio agrees. Next, the guys imagine how Mike and Dog would handle a ruptured testicle story before taking a delightful call from Reggie in Queens. Jerry returns for an update featuring Zach Thornton's six shutout innings in a Mets victory, prompting Gio to thank Jerry for sharing the Joshua Kuroda-Grauer story that sparked Reggie's call. Later, John Harbaugh delivers a fiery speech to his players, Rebecca Lowe recounts taking a helicopter from Brooklyn to MetLife Stadium for the World Cup pregame show, and Boomer congratulates Jay Feely on winning a Congressional primary election. Finally, the hour closes on two big NFL questions: will Justin Tucker ever kick again, and will a team sign Stefon Diggs?
With WFAN and other Audacy stations heading to SiriusXM in September, Gio breaks down why the deal is a win for all sides, right before intern Joe shares what it was like playing against AJ Ewing and other pro athletes in high school. Jerry steps up for his final update with news on Max Fried's return in game two of today's Yankees doubleheader, followed by the Mets' victory over the Brewers behind Zac Thornton's sharp outing, AJ Ewing's stellar defense, and a moonshot home run from Luis Robert Jr. Meanwhile, John Harbaugh tells Bob Papa and Carl Banks what went through his mind seeing Cam Skattebo's backflip, reiterating that he's focused on his squad 24/7. Plus, reports show Patrick Mahomes could be back on the field sooner than expected. The Moment of the Day revisits Reggie's swollen testicle and how Mike and Dog would react, paving the way for a final segment filled with calls about ruptured testicles to Keith Hernandez's take on the Jose Caballero and Dennis Santana drama.
While playing one of our fan sounds at home, we noticed that our dog was exceptionally quiet as people were making noise outside! We think he was trying to tell us something... That dogs find the sound of a fan super relaxing and it masks street noise! We knew he was onto something, so we made this fan sound for sleeping and relaxation specifically for dogs. We started playing this fan noise for him when we went out for the day or when we heard gardeners, delivery people or other dogs outside. Instead of barking, he slept peacefully through it all! Needless to say, the results blew us away!
For the first of two Still Dog People episodes this week, John LaSala guest-hosts with his wife Kate LaSala, a professional dog behavior consultant. (Content note: graphic dog attack on a child) Jill Karliner watched her four-year-old twin sons head into the neighbors' backyard to play with the big kids. Minutes later, she heard a scream that changed how her family would live with dogs. In the years since, she has come to hold two truths that don't quite fit together. Kate joins John afterward for a wide-ranging discussion, drawing on her work in fear and aggression cases and her role as a companion animal end-of-life doula. Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for July 21, 2026 is: dog days DAWG-DAYZ plural noun Dog days is a plural noun that refers to the hottest time of the year, which in the northern hemisphere is usually between early July and early September. Dog days can also refer to a period of stagnation or inactivity suggestive of hot, sultry weather when it can be difficult to summon the energy required for hard work. // Spending the day at a swimming hole has always been the perfect relief for the dog days of summer. See the entry > Examples: “When the dog days of summer were at their fullest, my new friends and I often played scrub baseball at Cameron Street School. We also rode our bicycles all over the south end.” — Gary Baldwin, The Peterborough (Ontario) Examiner, 19 July 2025 Did you know? Idle hands may be the devil's workshop, but let's be serious: when it's stiflingly hot outside, who among us isn't tempted to shirk work to go lie doggo in the shade somewhere? Such is the desire of many a creature—not just dogs (or lexicographers)—during the dog days of summer. If you're curious about how dogs got singled out in this expression, we might say it was in the stars. The dog in dog days is the Dog Star, aka Sirius, the star that represents the hound of the hunter Orion in the eponymous constellation. The star has long been associated with sultry weather in the northern hemisphere because it rises simultaneously with the sun during the hottest days of summer.

We loved our conversation with Isabel Klee (aka @SimonSits) about dogs, boys, and coming of age in New York City. The #1 NYT bestselling author shares her stories of looking for love in her 20s before she met her fiancé, the dogs she fostered along the way, and why you can fix a dog but you can't fix a man. We talk about what secure relationships really feel like and why she freaked out and ended one, the insanely romantic thing he did to get her back, and her theory on getting back together after a breakup. We also discuss why backpacking post-college was “cool” in theory but lonely in reality, her upcoming summer camp wedding, red flags with guys when it comes to dogs, and her book being made into a TV show. Before Isabel joins us, we are talking about friendships going through different stages of life and debating if certain foods have a time of day. Enjoy!
