A series-record of 293 entries in the seven IAME categories gathered at the Ocala, Florida circuit, starting the ninth season of the program off with perfect racing conditions and for the first time, LCQ races to help narrow down the larger fields. Welcome back to another episode of Karting Dads! We traveled again to Ocala Gran Prix. We decided to run 2 different class in 206 senior medium/heavy and also 206 masters. Action packed weekend. Grateful for all our friends who help us out. This weekend was blast and now we have also created our own trophy for bragging rights!

The sixth season of the United States Pro Kart Series began with the programs first visit to the Ocala Gran Prix. The central Florida facility hosted the Southern Grand Prix on April 6-8, serving as the first two rounds of the 2018 championship chase. The all-IAME program welcomed over 100 drivers in what was an exciting weekend of racing. The inaugural Superkarts! USA Winter Series closed out at the Ocala Gran Prix facility on February 9-11. EKN was trackside throughout the weekend, providing LIVE coverage throughout the three days of competition. The third and fourth rounds of the ‘spring training’ for the SKUSA Pro Tour helped to crown the 11 inaugural champions and set the tone of the 2018 SKUSA season. The ‘Happy Hour with Howden’ is back, making a return to the Ocala Gran Prix for the finale event of the 2018 Superkarts! USA Winter Series. EKN’s Rob Howden sits down on the mic for 2.5 hours as the classes complete their final practice session on Friday, February 9 around the 6/10-mile circuit. During that time, Rolison Performance Group’s Mike Rolison sits down to talk about the task of driver development and what the leading race team is doing for 2018.
Jonathan Kotyk is a young racing driver who has been competing in karts on a national and international level for years. He drives for teams including Ocala Gran Prix and Top Kart USA. This year he made the jump to F1600 Pro series and SCCA Majors representing Team Pelfrey and Gap Guard. Jonathan was selected as a team USA Scholarship recipient allowing him to compete in England at the Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch and in the Walter Hayes Trophy at Silverstone. With the support of Mazda, Honda, Safeisfast, Mockett, and Cooper Tires he is on his way. He’s tested a USF 2000 car before heading to Phoenix for the Mazda Road to Indy on a $200,000 scholarship. His goal is to race in the Verizon Indycar Series.
