Česko na něm zastupuje jak vládní delegace v čele s premiérem, tak prezident, kterého kabinet doplnil do výpravy až dodatečně po zásahu Ústavního soudu. Co od summitu čekat? Hostem Ptám se já byl bezpečnostní analytik CEVRO Univerzity, bývalý vrchní ředitel sekce obranné politiky a strategie ministerstva obrany Jan Jireš. Po mnohaměsíční přetahované mezi vládou a prezidentem o složení české delegace na summitu Severoatlantické aliance (NATO) dorazil do Ankary jedním letounem premiér Andrej Babiš (ANO) s ministrem zahraničí Petrem Macinkou a ministrem obrany Jaromírem Zůnou (za SPD). Druhým speciálem pak prezident Petr Pavel. Program vlády a hlavy státu na summitu podle Babiše zkoordinován není. Pavel před odletem řekl, že má v plánu minimálně čtveřici bilaterálních schůzek a na pozvání svého tureckého protějšku se zúčastní úterní večeře lídrů, na kterou vláda delegovala Andreje Babiše v doprovodu manželky. „Prát“ se s premiérem o židli u předního stolu při středečním jednání Severoatlantické rady ale prezident podle svých slov nebude. Babiš, jehož vláda účast Pavla do poslední chvíle odmítala, označil dvoudenní summit za jeden z nejdůležitějších pro celé NATO. Velkým zážitkem podle něj bude zejména jednání s americkým prezidentem Donaldem Trumpem, od kterého se očekává tlak na spojence ohledně plnění aliančních závazků. V této souvislosti premiér v úterý ráno prohlásil, že jeho vláda hodlá příští rok navýšit rozpočet ministerstva obrany o 36 miliard korun. Česko by tak poprvé splnilo závazek NATO dát dvě procenta hrubého domácího produktu (HDP) na obranu. Babiš dopředu naopak vyloučil, že by se Česko podílelo na poskytnutí pomoci Ukrajině ve výši 70 miliard eur (asi 1,69 bilionu korun), o které se bude na summitu také jednat. Prezident v reakci na Babišovo vyjádření ocenil, že se vláda přihlásila k závazku dát dvě procenta HDP na obranu. Zároveň připomenul, že suverénní Ukrajina se silnou a dobře vybavenou armádou je jednou z nejlepších pojistek bezpečnosti v Evropě. Jaký přínos může mít summit pro Česko?
