Charlie Martin is a professional racing driver who joins us for episode 2 of season 3 of The Driven Podcast. Charlie sat with Alex Goy and Charlotte Vowden in our dedicated podcast studio built by BMW at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed.Charlie is best known as a professional driver with a fantastic story to share. Her love for motorsport started (as it did for many of us) with a strong interest in motorsport computer games, such as Gran Turismo, but didn't get a chance to drive a racing car until her early 20s.Charlie gives an honest account of the true challenges that come with getting started in motorsport, touching on the lessons of financial struggles, jumping in at the deep end, and realising at which point you might have bitten off more than you can chew.An additional chapter to Charlie's story is her journey as a trans driver without a clear support avenue for other LGBTQ+ drivers. Coming out in 2018, Charlie shares the brutal truths about telling her own truth whilst trying to compete at a professional level of motorsport._______________________________________________The Driven Podcast brings you motoring-focused discussions, observations from the automotive world, and interviews in which we explore our guests' careers, exploits, and anything else worth discussing. We will also keep you up to speed with the latest automotive news stories and insights into the cars and motorcycles we're reviewing at Driven. In the biggest shake-up to reproductive rights in almost 60 years, MPs have voted to decriminalise abortion for women in England and Wales. This would mean a woman could not be prosecuted for ending her pregnancy after the 24 week limit, but medical professionals and others could still be held criminally liable if they assist. Nuala McGovern speaks to the BBC's political correspondent Alex Forsyth and Conservative MP Dr. Caroline Johnson, shadow minister for health and social care, who had put forward another amendment which would have required a pregnant woman to have an in person consultation with a doctor or appropriate medical professional before being prescribed medication to terminate her pregnancy, aimed at stopping so-called 'pills-by-post' abortions.Crime writer Karin Slaughter has sold over 40 million copies and been called the ‘Queen of Crime.' She's been writing for 25 years and has just published her 25th novel. Called We Are All Guilty Here, it's the story of two teenage girls who go missing and the start of a brand new series featuring police officer Emmy Clifton. Karin tells Nuala why she wanted create a new series and how she manages a book a year on top of all the TV adaptations on her work. Do you co-sleep or bedshare with your school-aged children? A few years ago the Clueless actor Alicia Silverstone was criticised for saying she sleeps in the same bed with her 11-year-old and that she was 'just following nature.' It's a divisive topic that provokes strong opinions and disagreement. So how common is it and what are the advantages and disadvantages of doing so? Nuala is joined by Genevieve Roberts, parenting columnist with the I newspaper, who regularly sleeps in the same bed with her children, and Sarah Blunden, Professor of Clinical Psychology and Head of Paediatric Sleep Research at Central Queensland University. One of the young women making waves in the male dominated sport of motor racing is 22-year-old Abbi Pulling. She's considered as one of the most promising young drivers in world motorsport - she won the 2024 'F1 Academy' season, which has been set up to develop women and girls in the sport. She's the first female driver to take a race victory in British F4 and is now racing in the GB3 category. Abbi told Nuala about the difficulties around funding for getting into racing and if women could make it into the top tier of Formula 1. Presenter: Nuala McGovern Producer: Andrea Kidd

Colin Crabbe was the kind of man who could spot a priceless vintage car under a pile of chicken wire in Paraguay — and somehow drive it home. A flamboyant racing driver, Formula One team owner, and classic car hunter with a taste for adventure (and a knack for trouble), Colin lived life in the fast lane — sometimes literally. From smuggling D-type Jaguars out of Cuba to crashing out of races in style, his stories were as wild as you could imagine.I was lucky enough to interview Colin back in 2022, right here in our little village in Lincolnshire. With his passing earlier this year, it felt only right to bring that conversation back — this time as one extended episode. It's funny, chaotic, moving, and full of Colin's unmistakable charm. He'll be sorely missed by his family, our community, and classic car lovers around the world. But what a ride he had.Colin Crabbe, motor-racing driver and entrepreneur. In this interview with @peterwindsor we react to the Singapore Grand Prix we discuss Max Verstappen using bad language in the F1 drivers' press conference and whether F1 were wrong to punish him? How did Peter Windsor handle prickly drivers and which drivers were the most challenging to interview? We discuss whether Lando Norris or Max Verstappen had the drive of the day, and is it time for Red Bull to make a decision on Sergio Perez's future at the team and replace him with Liam Lawson? Have we seen Daniel Ricciardo in an F1 car for the final time and did he make the wrong decision leaving Red Bull in the first place? Did Mercedes make another mistake by starting Lewis Hamilton on the soft tyres or was this informed by the mistakes they had made at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix earlier this season?- become a member -https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxyxUe_jRskL8xH7n580Ecw/join- where to find me -Twitter: https://twitter.com/CameronF1TVTiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@cameronf1tvFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CameronF1TVBusiness Email : cxmeronf1@gmail.com#f1 #formula1 #f1testing #f12023 #redbullracing #redbull #ferrari

The motorsport world is full of fantastic and particular experiences, but there is one driver's life story that has always particularly fascinated me — that of Roberta Cowell. See, Cowell was a fighter pilot, a prisoner of war, and a racing driver, which alone would have been enough to build up an impressive resumé. However, she was also the first documented person to receive gender affirming surgery in the United Kingdom, making her the first known trans woman to compete in motorsport. Today, we're discussing her life and her experiences in an era where her mere existence was criminalized. In this interview with @peterwindsor we discuss the Austrian GP and whether Max Verstappen was to blame for the incident with Lando Norris, was the movement in the braking zone at the Austrian Grand Prix dangerous, should Lando Norris have moved left in turn 3 like Verstappen had done in 2023 when overtaking Carlos Sainz? Is there a risk of F1 becoming too sanitised if the FIA penalise aggressive defensive driving? Were the FIA to blame for penalising Verstappen in real time and should they have issued Lando's 5 second penalty sooner and would it have changed the complexion of the Austrian Grand Prix if Red Bull and Max Verstappen had know about the penalty? Dan Prosser and Andrew Frankel discuss the remarkable racing career of Michael Schumacher. The German driver once held all the Formula 1 records, including most championships, most wins and most poles. Many of those records have since been broken, but for lots of F1 fans Schumacher is still the greatest ever to do it. But along with his ferocious speed and intellect came a darker side – a need to win so fierce he twice crashed into competitors in championship deciders. And did his Mercedes comeback in 2010 hurt his legacy?Father's Day gift subscriptions – https://www.the-intercooler.com/gift-subscriptions/The best writers, the finest stories and no ads, all on The Intercooler's beautiful online car magazine. Welcome back to another episode of the officially unofficial podcast of all things Grenadier - Grenadier Works with Krabby and Stu. The past two episodes - Episode 004 "Exclusive Greg Clark interview and first North American On Road Drive" and Episode 005 ”The Test Drive Washup” - featured Ineos Americas superman Greg Clark and the first on-road drive of a North American spec Ineos Grenadier. Today, we return to the dirt and interview a key player in the IA North American PTO Tour. In fact, our guest has arguably logged more Grenadier seat time than any North American … well, except for his girlfriend! And, without even knowing it, you may have taken a ride with him! Forum member Anand worked as a driving instructor for Overland Experts - the driving company responsible for the North American PTO tours. He, along side his girlfriend and the other OEX instructors, worked the events in New York, Los Angelos, and nearly every stop along the way. Sit back and relax as we hear from the club's own tame racing driver on this episode of Grenadier Works with KRABBY, STU and Anand too.
