Meet Eva Baker, the Teenpreneur Conference founder Eva Baker is the founder and CEO of TeensGotCents, a personal finance website devoted to teenagers. The platform is designed to help teens and college students learn to budget their money, stay debt free, shop smart and find a great part-time job. The site has been recognized by The Plutus Awards as the Best Blog for Teens, College Students and Young Adults in 2014 and the Best Generational Finance Blog in 2016. Eva is also the host of the Teenpreneur Conference, a place where business-owning teens and aspiring young entrepreneurs can get together, learn practical skills and connect with brands. Today, Eva shares the inspiration behind both TeensGotSense and the Teenpreneur Conference. She covers what you will learn at Teenpreneur and how the community has grown since its inception in 2016. Eva speaks to her experience working with LGBTQ youth and the inclusive environment fostered at the conference.

I chat with TeensGotCents creator Eva Baker about why she's so passionate about educating teens about personal finance, what inspired her to found The Teenpreneur Conference, and what she wants teens to know the most about managing their money the smart way. Long description: Unlike many teens her age, Eva Baker started to get interested in personal finance at the young age of 16. She started listening to Dave Ramsey's teachings, and got hooked. But what she soon realized is there was a ton of information out there on how to fix your financial woes, but not a ton on how to avoid them when you're a teen and just starting your own personal finance journey. That's when she got the idea to create TeensGotCents, a financial literacy blog for teens that explores money and issues relating to adolescents specifically. I sure wish her blog was around when I was in high school! I'm sure I would have figured out how to make my part-time job income go further. As she mentions in the interview, she also started her blog as her major project for school, but it eventually took off and became her full-time gig. Now in her 20s, she manages a staff of writers to keep creating valuable content for teens on the website. And if that weren't impressive enough, she also founded her own conference — The Teenpreneur Conference — that's all about promoting entrepreneurship to teens. The next conference will be taking place June 8-10, 2017 in Jacksonville, Florida. On this Queer Money, we interview teenpreneur Eva Baker of TeensGotCents.com. Schools aren’t adequately teaching today’s students about money. Enter Eva Baker. Eva only recently lost her teenager-card, but is teaching teenagers and others too young to enter a bar about money. What started as a home-school project assigned by her mother, Eva has turned into a full-time job and a company with four employees.

Eva Baker is a 20-year old who started a business as a project when she was a teen. Her blog, TeensGotCents.com, has grown into a powerful resource for teens who want to learn about personal finances and also about running a small business. In June 2017, Eva will host the second TeenPreneur Conference, a place for young people to learn about starting, building or running their own small business.   After talking with Eva over Mocktails, my biggest take-away was to not let age determine our goals in life. Young or old, we are all on unique journeys. When inspiration hits us, we need to pursue it with passion - no matter what stage of our lives we are in. Today, I bring you an interview with a dynamo: Eva from TeensGotCents.com. I met Eva in New Orleans at the FinCon conference. She was attending with her mother and I was incredibly impressed with her. Eva writes about about personal finance for a teen audience. She began at the age of 15 and she shares her own journey and also gives advice for other young people. Frankly, I'm a bit jealous of Eva's early start in writing about the topics of personal finance. I wish I'd had the foresight to begin at her age.
