It's Episode 2, wherein Brian Belida, Tyler Ohlew, and Wes Gardner discuss (circa 2008) what they've been playing, and online gaming shops such as PSN and Nintendo's eShop!
The first ever episode of Nitrobeard's "Beardcast" is right here, so start the journey! Originally airing in January 2008, this first episode has everything, including: Brian Belida parkouring into your ears, Tyler Ohlew singing Cher, and Wes asking questions like Barbara Walters.
In this prototype episode of Nitrobeard (from Wes's old podcast, No Quarter Radio), this is the first episode where the original three creators of Nitrobeard (Brian Belida, Tyler Ohlew, and Wes Gardner) were on a podcast together. Also featuring Oranjive's Jeff Sobol, "No Quarter Episode 10" was the start of something truly special.
Alternate Title: "Destiny Loot Leaves Stephen Shook"Gird your loins and get your buttons/stylus/what have you ready, as NFR kicks it old school. In New Business, Donald leads off with discussion of Theathrythm Curtain Call, the blown out version of an early NFR favorite, which dovetailed into a discussion of Final Fantasy XV: What Is Love when the internet randomly crapped out during recording. Although the full game is out right now, all we had at recording time was the demo of Super Smash Bros 4 (3DS), so you get limited early impressions of the game so powerful it needs a system rev to handle it. Stephen's only been playing one thing, and you'll be stunned at the issues Destiny had. Austen has a few quick hitters, but the main game he played for reasons clear at the end is Wii U Indie Puzzle Platformer With Unique Artstyle (tm Player One Podcast) Teslagrad. The results will definitely shock you.Following a congratulatory Now Posted, there's a heavy Whatcha Watchin' component as well. Stephen leaves his co-hosts in a James Jones position while discussing Slugterra, before showing that Donald is not the only Idiot Abroad and getting in a NBC-approved Food Fight. Donald's participation in this segment has usually been Pointless, but he did bring Madoka Magica back for a full drubbing. Austen meanwhile, has wrapped up Cardcaptor Sakura and entered the tenth layer of hell - phone tech support - in The Devil Was A Part-Timer.Since the feature had to be saved for the end, it's right into the Mushrooms from there as we slam acquisitions, discontinuations, and lazy localizations. We don't ask for it to come that way, but we work with what we're given. As for the feature... since the show was a) going to run past our time limit, and b) contained a lot of things not really appropriate for a clean show, our discussion of Danganronpa 2 was actually spun into a separate podcast that MIGHT be familiar to listeners of other Nintendo World Report shows. You can find us and Tyler Ohlew discussing Donald's Game of 3/4 Of The Year right here. This podcast was recorded on September 28, and was edited by Donald Theriault. All music and clips copyright their respective owners and used under fair use protection.
As so often happens, when you have a good discussion you want to make it its own release. And that's exactly what happened when Tyler Ohlew, owner/operator of Stick It In Your Pocket, took some time to join Stephen and Austen in grilling Donald on why this game is his 3/4 Game of the Year. Stunning revelations abound in this distubing, distressing, despairing... class trial. This podcast was recorded on October 1, was edited by Donald Theriault, and may also appear on episode 153 of Nintendo World Report Connectivity. Unlike a normal NFR show, the podcast is uncensored and contains extremely mature themes. Listener discretion is strongly advised.
It’s that magical time of year once again, when our fuel tanks are refilled with pure liquid hope before being dashed upon the rocks of hardware limitations and rushed schedules. That’s right, welcome to the Portable Power Podcast’s coverage of E3 2014. Marc, Emrys, and Kevin are joined by Tyler Ohlew of Stick It In […]
Welcome to episode 123 of Connectivity! We have two segments for you this week. Kicking things off, Alex joins retired Nintendo World Report staffer Tyler Ohlew to discuss Inazuma Eleven, the Level-5-developed soccer RPG that just hit the eShop in North America and Europe a few weeks ago. The guys talk about the quirky game as well as their surprise that it has been released in America. Oh, and for everyone else in the world, you get to cringe every time they say "soccer" instead of "football." Hooray! In the second half of the show, Daan hosts another game show, this time all about the months of January and February. Scott returns to compete against NWR-newcomer Addison Webb as the duo answers questions about recent news stories, music from platformers, and Mario history. Next week we are doing another listener mail segment, so be sure to send us your questions! You can send it to Connectivity@nintendoworldreport.com. We will see you next week!
Boom Blox Bash Party is tailor made for the Wii. It isn't a down-port, and it wasn't put together by some ragtag B-team. It's a shining example of what the system was capable of in loving hands. Listen to Tyler Ohlew and JP Corbran explain just how great Boom Blox Bash Party is, all while not understanding just what Steven Spielberg had to do with it.
Our seventh-best first-party Wii game is Mario Kart Wii, the 2008 release that brought the Wii Wheel into existence. Mike Gamin and Tyler Ohlew join Neal Ronaghan to chat about the awesome online, the creative courses, and the overall wonderful experience they all had with Mario Kart's sixth iteration. They even discuss Canada at some point since, well, Tyler's a Canadian and Mike can shout at him from across a Great Lake.
