And that's a wrap - this is our final installment in our series on Job. We hope that you have had a chance to read the entire book, and seen that it does more than just answer why suffering happens to us. Our prayer is that you now have a deeper appreciation for how this book prepares us for Jesus, and that trusting in him and depending on him is the answer to all of our needs.
To have the patience of Job is an idiom to describe someone who will put up with anything. Many people know that Job is a story about intense suffering and it's often assumed that the book will answer the question, "why do bad things happen to good people?" Over 7 weeks this term we are going to look at the Old Testament book of Job. We will see that it is much more than just an example of how to be patient and that while innocent suffering is real, the book is not designed only to answer why that happens.

This term we are studying the words of possibly the most famous sermon ever preached. As we move through the series, we will repeatedly be invited to put Jesus words into practice (7:24). May we all be "blessed ones" as his words become not merely familiar to us, but increasingly foundational in shaping how we live for him in response to who he is and what he has done for us.

Welcome back to Deeper, 2023! Today we have the whole gang, join us as we look forward to a great term in the book of Matthew.
The title "Perfect Mess" could suggest that things in the Corinthian church were as bad as they could be, but the opposite is also true. As we study the 2nd half of the letter, we need to remember that Paul was writing to a group of people who had put their faith in Jesus, who were perfect, having received the righteousness of Jesus (1: 1 - 9). This term we will cover food sacrificed to idols, right worship, spiritual gifts and the resurrection. Often compared to listening to one side of a telephone conversation, it is not always certain what the Corinthians were saying or doing. Some issues seem distant and even irrelevant, while other topics remain modern controversies. We will attempt to draw out the ongoing significance of how we love in a way that honors God.
