Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of JesusMatthew 11:25-30"Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,for I am meek and humble of heart;and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light."
June 11, 2026. Matthew 11:1-6
MATTHEW 11 60-65 A D The Chronological New Testament
What does it actually mean to be presence driven? It means embracing the yoke of Jesus. In the ancient world, a yoke bound a younger ox to an older one. It set the direction, shaped the animal, and determined the fruit of its work. Jesus uses that picture in Matthew 11 when He says, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me.” Here is the sobering part: a yoke keeps you in a process until you become what you are yoked to. The Pharisees' yoke was crushing. Jesus' yoke is communion. You become whatever you're yoked to.
Why does work feel so heavy? Whether it's your career, your family, school, parenting, caregiving, ministry, or simply the responsibilities of everyday life, many of us are carrying burdens that leave us exhausted. In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus gives one of His most famous invitations: "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." But what if Jesus isn't inviting us to escape our work? What if He's inviting us to learn a new way to carry it? In this message, we explore four keys to turning heavy work into "light work": • Pull with a partner • Leave the lying voices • Learn from the Lord • Find your fit Jesus doesn't promise a life without responsibility. He offers His presence, His power, and a yoke that fits. If you've been feeling overwhelmed, burned out, anxious about the future, or exhausted by the weight you're carrying, this message is for you.
Are you tired and worn down? Going through the trials of life, it is easy to find ourselves exhausted. For so many of us there lies a tiredness that we can't shake, no matter how much sleep or downtime we get. There are so many things that seem to promise life but in the end leave us empty, longing for more. In Matthew 11:25-30 we see that in the midst of these burdens, Jesus invites us to come to Him for rest. He calls us to trust him, learn from him and find the true rest for our souls that is found in Him alone.

The early energy of the morning may have faded. Unexpected demands may have appeared. Messages, responsibilities, deadlines, and concerns can slowly gather until we feel heavier than we did when the day first began. Sometimes we become so used to carrying burdens that we forget we were never meant to carry them alone. Jesus speaks a simple invitation. “Come to me.” Not when you are stronger. Not when you have solved everything. Not when you have all the answers. Come as you are. Father, thank You that Your invitation remains open. Thank You that I do not need to pretend I am stronger than I feel. Thank You that I can bring my weariness, my concerns, and my questions to You. Jesus, help me release what I have been trying to carry by myself. Where my heart feels tired, bring refreshment. Where my mind feels crowded, bring clarity. Where my spirit feels weary, bring renewed strength. Lord, teach me to receive Your help rather than relying only upon my own efforts. Help me remember that Your grace is sufficient for today and that Your strength is available in every moment. Across the world, many people are carrying invisible burdens. In this message from The Beatitudes, Angie Richey teaches from Matthew 5:5 that meekness is power under control. Meekness is not weakness, but strength submitted to God, emotional regulation, holy restraint, and trust that God can defend, heal, and lead us without our need to dominate, retaliate, or control every outcome.Click here to view the episode transcript. We all wrestle with things not going the way we expect them to go - with God not doing for us what we think is best, and on our timetable. It's in that kind of hardship that doubts can rise up and overwhelm us. In Matthew 11:1-24, John the Baptist, one of the greatest men on earth in Jesus' opinion, is wrestling with doubt. It's a place where honest questions find honest answers, personal expectations are dashed to pieces and sobering words are in search of a humble heart. Jesus isn't threatened by your questions, discouragement and doubt. He'll meet you right where you are.
This sermon is about Matthew 11:25-30 and spiritual rest.

Following Jesus: The Book of Matthew
Welcome to the Daily Disciple Podcast. As daily disciples, we seek to adore and follow Jesus, our teacher, into the abundant life that he offers. Because we find Jesus irresistible, fascinating, and incredibly practical, we want to be students of his scripture. Today's episode is found in Matthew 11 "Swayed By Others."
In this message from Matthew 11:1–15, Steve Morgan explores what it means to have healthy expectations of God, ourselves, and the Christian life. Looking at John the Baptist's doubts while sitting in prison, this sermon honestly addresses the tension many believers feel when life with God does not unfold the way they expected. Jesus points John back to Scripture, reminding us that our expectations must be shaped by God's revealed truth rather than personal assumptions, cultural trends, or disappointment. With warmth, humor, and biblical depth, Steve Morgan unpacks how faith grows through trust, community, discipleship, and steady obedience. This teaching encourages believers to anchor their hope in Christ's finished work and to recognize the incredible privilege of living on this side of the cross. Whether you are struggling with discouragement, wrestling with unanswered questions, or seeking deeper spiritual maturity, this sermon offers practical encouragement and gospel-centered perspective rooted in Matthew 11.

Join Hunter, your Bible reading coach and fellow traveler, as we dive into 1 Samuel 28-29, Psalm 109, and Matthew 11. Through reflection, prayer, and encouragement, we'll be reminded that even when our circumstances seem overwhelming, God sees us and is at work in our lives. Settle in for Scripture, soul work, and renewal as we seek God's presence together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: See beyond the walls. What do you do when it seems that God is inattentive to your circumstances? Are you tempted to lose faith, to shut down, to walk away, to try and go it alone? John the Baptist feels you. Here he is, in prison, and his circumstances aren't looking good. In fact, it won't be long before he's executed. It's doubtful that he had this in mind when he answered God's call and went into the desert to preach. John had a clear sense of purpose: he was to prepare the way for the Lord, for the Messiah to arrive. Yet in this chapter of his story, nothing seems clear anymore. He is awaiting his death. So he sends his disciples to Jesus with a pressing question: Are you the one we've been expecting, or should we keep looking for someone else? John's vision of his place in God's story is getting cloudy, and he wants clarity. To John, it seems like God is being inattentive to his struggles, like God's not coming through. The temptation for doubt is real and heavy. You can't blame John. He sends his friends to Jesus, longing for confirmation, for something that will shore up his hope. Notice how Jesus responds. He doesn't tell them, "I'm the guy—tell John I'll break him out by noon." Instead, Jesus says to report what they hear and see: the blind receive sight, the lame walk, those with leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor. Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me. John's circumstances have shrunk his vision down to the size of his cell, but Jesus wants him to see something bigger—something beyond the prison walls. It's as if Jesus is saying to John, "Hang in there, John. See beyond the walls. There's something more happening here." Maybe this is the message for you today. Don't let your faith hinge on whether God has answered your current prayers or performed according to your recent expectations. When your world closes in and your vision shrinks, remember this message: God is at work—the blind see, the lame walk, the hurting are healed. He is not inattentive or neglectful of you. He is working all things out according to his purposes for you. Even when you cannot see past your prison walls, God has his eye on you, just as Jesus had his eye on John. Jesus knew all about John. Jesus had not forgotten his friend. And the same is true for you. Let us allow Jesus to renew our vision—to see the God who is at work, the God who sees me. That's a prayer that I have for my own soul. That's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen. Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen.
