My review of J.D. Greear's new book "Everyday Revolutionary."substack article: https://jonharris.substack.com/p/everyday-revolutionary-or-third-wayPowerPoint: https://www.patreon.com/posts/143983538J.D. Greear's new book Everyday Revolutionary promises a bold path forward for Christians in culture, but is it really revolutionary or just Third-Way 2.0 with better marketing?Jon Harris returns to Conversations That Matter to unpack Greear's updated playbook: tougher rhetoric on Democrats than the 2010s versions, yet still heavy on non-partisan platitudes and light on hard stands over immigration, criminal justice, or gun control. Why does Greear insist conservatives must publicly repent of the Right's sins to maintain credibility? We applaud the strong “theology of place” and exile framework… then watch it collapse into confusion: activism is supposedly secondary to the gospel, yet suddenly mandatory when the Bible “clearly” speaks as long as it doesn't alienate a particular political party. From benching George Whitefield over slavery to walking the purple-city tightrope, Harris argues the book ultimately functions as reputation management rather than a call to costly faithfulness. Is Everyday Revolutionary the renewal the church needs, or a sophisticated toolkit for evangelical shape-shifting? A candid, no-punches-pulled conversation that matters.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/conversations-that-matter8971/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Nick Fuentes, NETTR, and the Battle for Young Men’s Hearts In this episode, Pastor Joseph Spurgeon sits down with returning guest Jon Harris (host of the Conversations That Matter podcast) to unpack one of the most contentious debates raging in right-wing and Christian political spaces: the rise of Nick Fuentes, the resurgence of the “No Enemies to the Right” (NETTR / Neottr) philosophy, and what all of this means for the future of young men who are desperate for direction, leadership, and truth. This episode isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s a field manual for discerning men in a fog-of-war cultural moment. Topics Covered: ✅ NETTR vs. NEOTTR – What do these terms mean, who coined them, and how should faithful Christian men think about coalition-building on the right? ✅ Nick Fuentes & the Groypers – Jon Harris gives a hard critique of Fuentes, his methods, character, and why he fails the biblical test of leadership, even if he claims to fight “the left.” ✅ The Danger of Compromised Alliances – How co-belligerency works in Scripture (Abraham, David, Daniel, Nehemiah) versus when you’re just riding shotgun in a car driven by fools. ✅ David & Joab – A biblical case study in working with dangerous allies while maintaining godly clarity and never surrendering your integrity. ✅ Pastoral Wisdom for the Young & Angry – Why many of these “dissident right” figures appeal to lost young men—and why the Church must offer more than finger-wagging or limp-wristed “niceness.” ✅ Don’t Fall for the Revenge-of-the-Dork Trap – Jon and Joseph explain how ragebait influencers hijack real masculine instincts and direct them toward perversion, cowardice, and idolatry. Key Takeaways: Not every co-belligerent is a brother. You can fight in the same trench without handing over the megaphone—or your soul. Bad company corrupts good morals (1 Cor. 15:33). Even if someone punches left, that doesn’t make him a leader worth following. True masculinity is principled, not primal. Biblical manhood doesn’t settle for vulgarity, victimhood, or cowardice dressed up as strength. What is the impact of organ donation and how can that message be transmitted to the wider public? That's just one of the questions facing healthcare professionals, donor families, and transplant recipients who recently gathered for the 2025 National Organ Donation Conference in Galway. The theme for the conference was “Conversations That Matter”. At the event John Burns, the former Deputy Principal of Rice College gave a talk on donor family experience. His younger brother benefitted from two liver transplants, while his older brother was an organ donor. John joined Sally-Ann Barrett on Tuesday's Morning Focus to share more on this.

In this episode of Conversations That Matter, Jon explores the relationship between politics and morality for Christians. He argues that while politics undeniably involves moral elements, it is not fundamentally a cosmic battle between good and evil. Instead, politics is about preserving and improving a specific way of life for one's family, community, and people. Using sports as an analogy, Harris explains that games have rules and moral expectations, yet the goal is one team prevailing through local loyalty and ordered love, not universal ethics. Christians can support opposing teams faithfully, just as political issues often require wisdom rather than binary moral judgments. Examples include debating condos versus scenic preservation, allying with feminists to protect girls' sports, taxing vices like marijuana to curb harm, or opposing alcohol bans to safeguard family heritage. Harris stresses the art of the possible: forming limited partnerships with flawed individuals against greater threats, as on Flight 93, and even opposing morally superior foes if they endanger your home, as in historical wars where Christians fought on both sides. God's moral law remains universal on core issues like abortion, but most political decisions hinge on context, identity, and stewardship. The aim is flourishing for those under your care morally, economically, and culturally. Harris rejects situational ethics while affirming situated wisdom in pursuing the best for your people.Order Against the Waves: Againstthewavesbook.comCheck out Jon's Music: jonharristunes.comTo Support the Podcast: https://www.worldviewconversation.com/support/Become a Patronhttps://www.patreon.com/jonharrispodcastFollow Jon on Twitter: https://twitter.com/jonharris1989Follow Jon on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jonharris1989/Our Sponsors:* Check out TruDiagnostic and use my code HARRIS for a great deal: https://www.trudiagnostic.comSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/conversations-that-matter8971/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

072 The age of connectivity was supposed to give everyone a voice and spread liberal values around the world, but instead public discourse in the digital town square has been reduced to 280 characters and cynical memes shared with strangers. In contrast to the dumpster fire of social media is the rich tradition of a salon culture that thrived during the age of enlightenment. From the ferment of these social gatherings flowed a new world of reason and possibility, including egalitarian systems of self governance and the inalienable rights that have come to define the West, but are now under threat.Innate to the experience of salons is the pursuit of meaning, connection and beauty. As more of life is lived online there are fewer spaces in the real world where diverse people and perspectives can engage in healthy and spirited exchange about things that truly matter. In this episode of Awake In Relationship I speak with Justine Kolata, a philosopher, salonnière and author of In Pursuit of the Beautiful Soul about reviving the art of conversation as an antidote to online toxicity and restoring hope in a brighter future through holding space for beauty and heartfelt dialogue. If you have been loving what you are hearing on AIR please rate, review and subscribe to get the latest content fresh to your device. We explore how she leads serious illness conversations, manages complex chronic conditions, and builds trust with patients and families to ensure care aligns with their values. What happens when two of America's most fearless voices on race come together for an unfiltered conversation? In this powerful episode, host Mick sits down with Emmy and Peabody-winning storyteller W. Kamau Bell and education equity architect Glenn Singleton to explore what drives their decades-long commitment to racial justice. The conversation dives deep into what Bell calls "the Black baton" – the generational responsibility passed down through families to make life better for those who come after. "When my grandparents handed the black baton to my parents, it was lighter than when they got it," Bell explains, describing his mission to ensure it doesn't become heavier during his lifetime. Singleton echoes this sentiment, sharing that his work stems from recognizing that his generation has "more than we've ever had" and feeling responsible to continue the progress. Both men offer practical wisdom about having these crucial conversations. Singleton breaks down his groundbreaking "Beyond Diversity" framework, celebrating its 30th anniversary, which begins with the fundamental question: "What impact does race have on my life?" Bell shares how he navigates these discussions with his three daughters, emphasizing that even his seven-year-old understands political realities in age-appropriate ways. "Justice is sometimes a thing you see that authority will tell you not to see," he explains, highlighting how he empowers his children to recognize injustice. Perhaps most valuable is their guidance for those hesitant to engage in race conversations for fear of saying something wrong. Bell suggests examining your social circle – are you surrounded by people who will lovingly "call you in" when you misspeak? Singleton adds that understanding the "paramount importance of racial justice" in American society is the starting point, followed by recognizing that "race is a symbol of power" with whiteness at the top of the hierarchy. Whether you're a parent trying to have these conversations with your children, a professional navigating workplace dynamics, or simply someone committed to building a more equitable society, this episode offers both inspiration and practical approaches to moving beyond comfort into the spaces where real change happens. Artificial Intelligence isn't just changing our work—it's reshaping who we are. In this compelling Not All Hood conversation, Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Candace Kelley dive into the unseen influence of AI on our creativity, our thinking, and our emotional lives. As AI tools make it easier for anyone to sound brilliant, the question becomes: what makes us truly original? They discuss how tech like auto-tune and AI-generated writing have blurred the lines between human and machine-made, and why the real power lies with those who know how to use AI without losing themselves. From students fiercely defending their AI-aided essays to professors requiring handwritten work just to ensure authenticity—this episode questions what ownership, authorship, and creativity really mean in a digital world. We also tackle the shifting landscape of DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) and how language and branding around it are being reimagined in real-time.
