Take to heart the message of today's podcast. Do you see the writing on the wall of judgment over the state of the heart of the world today? How about your heart? The Lord our God is a holy God. He shall not be challenged and dishonored by arrogance and defiance. There is a time of patience and testing, allowing opportunity for hearts to humble and repent. Then comes the judgment. Will we be ready and able to stand the true test of faith in the end times, and again at the judgment seat of Christ? Lord, have mercy. By His grace alone, we have life. By His grace we can overcome. Hold fast to Him. He is your only hope!

There are a few different ways to look at the structure of the book of Daniel, and one of them is to note that the first six chapters are comprised of narratives that contain prophecy, while the last six chapters are prophecies that contain history. The first four chapters occurred under Nebuchadnezzar, while today's chapters occur in further successive time periods under Belshazzar, Darius the Mede, and Cyrus the Persian. Later chapters, however, do not maintain a chronological order. Each account shows God's supreme authority over all kings and kingdoms as those who attempt to thwart the Lord's authority are all shown to be weak and handily defeated.Daniel 5 - 1:03 . Daniel, much older in age, is summoned to the feast of Belshazzar, crown prince of Babylon, to interpret a sign. A hand appeared and wrote a message on the wall for Belshazzar and left Belshazzar deathly afraid. Listen to Dave provide context and unpack this significant event.
As we read over chapter 5 of Daniel, Pastor Glenn Lawson examines the case of King Belshazzar who is weighed and found wanting by God due to choosing his own way despite having a knowledge of God's power and works. In light of this, we have to ask ourselves the tough question: In our lives, how are we rejecting our knowledge of God and limiting our relationship with Him through sin?

Dare to be a Daniel- as we explore the book of Daniel we'll learn what it means to live faithfully in exile, as well as how prophecies from thousands of years ago prove the reliability of scripture and prepare us for the return of Jesus.
In Acts 3 we have the healing of the crippled man, who was lame from birth and more than 40 years old (4:22). This healing has many parallels with the testy of the crippled man at the pool of Bethesda in John 5. The crippled man represents Israel and their inability to walk before their God. Peter commands the lame man to fix his gaze on them, which he does expecting alms. The crippled man receives far greater -he receives healing and discipleship. And walking, and leaping, and praising God he enters the templewith Peter and John. Remarkable words of witness follow with the testimony of Peter that there is noother name given under heaven by which salvation can come than our Lord Jesus Christ. Buddhism, Hinduism and all other isms cannot save. Our Lord was the stone rejected by men, but chosen and precious to God (Psalm 118:22). Peter outlines in verses 19-26 what they must do. The rulers sendofficers in chapter 4 to arrest Peter and John. Note that the number of disciples had now reached 5,000. They were examined by the Counsel and commanded to refrain from preaching Christ Jesus. TheApostles' response is that: "We cannot cease from doing what the Almighty has commanded us". Peter and John are threatened and released. Upon joining their fellow believers, the two Apostles together withtheir assembled brothers praise the LORD and in prayer speak of what had just happened as being a fulfilment of Psalm 2. Their Sovereign's response to their prayer is a shaking of the house they were in. God is further demonstrating His power in support of their testimony. This was given as yet anotherendorsement by their God of His guarantee to support his ecclesia's faithful testimony. The spirit of unity and community is spoken of in verses 32-37. Oh, for such a spirit among believers today! Thanks for joining us - we pray you found these comments helpful in your appreciation of God's words, join again tomorrow

In this week's Bible study on Daniel 5, Nicole unpacks the famous scene of the writing on the wall and shows how it exposes the danger of pride, the fragility of earthly empires, and the steady faithfulness God calls us to in “upside-down” cultures. You’ll see how Daniel models faithful service over time, refuses worldly rewards, and operates with wisdom from above—a pattern modern disciples can emulate at work, at home, and in leadership. Nicole also highlights historical notes that parallel Scripture and offers a simple four-question framework (“ALIVE Method”) to help you study any passage with clarity and confidence. What We Cover This Week in Daniel 5 - Understand “the writing on the wall.” Discover what Mene, Mene, Tekel, Parsin means and how it reveals God’s verdict on pride and misuse of power. Spot the difference between words and fruit. Learn why religious language isn’t the measure of faith—fruit over time is (character > charisma). Live unshaken in a shaking world. Daniel shows how to serve faithfully across regimes without compromising devotion to God. Choose the right reward system. Earthly power and gifts are temporary; Kingdom reward frees you to tell the truth with courage. Practice wisdom from above. James 3 says that wisdom looks like purity, peace, consideration, mercy, and sincerity—use it as your checklist for influence. Study the Bible with confidence. Use Nicole’s ALIVE Method each week: What does it say? What’s the backstory? What does it mean? What does it mean for me? The voice of the Lord is described as being a powerful thing. Much comfort can be gained when we understand just how powerful it is, and the glory it gives to the Lord when we do so.

In Daniel 5, the fall of Belshazzar shows that human kingdoms built on pride and blasphemy cannot stand, but God's holiness and justice endure. Just as Belshazzar was weighed and found wanting, so too are our own attempts to build lasting kingdoms, yet God has not forgotten His people. In Christ—the true King who was weighed in our place and not found wanting—God establishes an eternal kingdom that cannot be shaken, offering hope and life to all who belong to Him.
Walking in pride will lead you down the pathway to disaster and God does not take the issue of pride lightly and will deal with it as He deems necessary. In this thought-provoking message from Pastor Jeff Schreve, called “TURN OUT THE LIGHTS, THE PARTY'S OVER,” you will see how God deals with those who cling to their pride and what you can do so that you aren't one of them. This message is part of the 6-Message series SHINE: HOW TO LIVE THE CHRISTIAN LIFE IN AN UNCHRISTIAN WORLD.
Fr. Mike touches on Proverbs 16:3, which is about giving everything in our lives to the service of the Lord. He also emphasizes how important it is to humble ourselves before the Lord, so to avoid becoming like the false prophets Jeremiah talks about today. Today's readings are Jeremiah 23, Daniel 4-5, and Proverbs 16:1-4. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear.
