The book of Revelation is the most difficult book to understand in the NT. As a result, there are varying philosophies as to why the book was written, what it means and if what is taught applies to us today. Evangelist Alan Hitchen joins us to talk about how we should approach studying the book and to give warnings about its interpretation. We will discuss: How the book demands restraint How many interpret the book and the consequences John's warning from the Holy Spirit Boundaries when interpreting biblequestions.org
In this episode of Luke21, Steve Wood unpacks Revelation 10, the interlude between the sixth and seventh trumpets. As a mighty angel descends with one foot on the sea and the other on land, Scripture reminds us that God's sovereignty extends over all creation—even during tribulation and the rise of the Antichrist. Steve also explores the command for St. John to “eat the scroll” before prophesying, showing why true prophecy requires internalizing God's word. Drawing from Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Pope Benedict XVI, he warns against shallow substitutes for authentic preaching and emphasizes the urgent need for prophetic voices today—in families, parishes, and youth groups. ALAN MULHERN: The Quest & Psychotherapy (Jungian Approach to Healing)
The Christian apocalyptic tradition is explored, focusing on the prophecies and warnings of the Gospels and the Book of Revelation. These texts contain a dramatic narrative of cataclysmic events: the end days, the Second Coming, the Rapture, the chosen few, the final judgment, Armageddon, the defeat of Satan, and the reign of Christ's kingdom. This tradition has provided a reference point for Western civilization across the millennia and is still active today. Its archetypal content is emphasized, as well as its psychological roots.
In this sermon by Pastor Chris Romig, the focus is on praying for revival and understanding the coming judgment described in Revelation 8. Chris urges the church to earnestly seek God's intervention for personal and communal revival, trusting in God's power. He provides a recap of their ongoing study in Revelation, highlighting the escalating severity of God's judgments: the breaking of seals, and now the sounding of trumpets which bring wide destruction upon the earth, sea, fresh waters, and skies. Chris explains the strong biblical symbolism of trumpets as instruments of both warning and judgment. He references the parallels between the Revelation judgments and the plagues of Egypt, suggesting these events are literal and future, not just symbolic or historical. Importantly, Chris frames these judgments as a form of God's grace providing a final wake-up call for humanity to repent before it's too late. Despite these sobering warnings, Chris assures believers they do not need to fear. He draws comfort from the promise of the rapture: just as God spared His people in Exodus, He will deliver Christians from the worst of tribulations. Chris concludes with encouragement to urgently share the hope of the gospel and to rest in the assurance that God's judgments ultimately serve to set His people free and establish final justice.
In her teaching on Revelation chapter 18, Marilyn Hickey unpacks the fall of Babylon as a prophetic picture of the collapse of worldly systems built on pride, greed, and rebellion against God. She explains how Babylon represents a corrupt spiritual and economic power that will be judged and brought down in a single hour. Hickey highlights the contrast between trusting in man's wealth versus relying on God's eternal kingdom. This message encourages believers not to be shaken by end-time events, but to stand firm in Christ, knowing that while the world's systems may fall, God's people are secure in His unshakable kingdom. Jaggy, Tedi, and I thank you for listening. Please SHARE!
In this episode of Luke21, host Steve Wood unpacks Revelation 9 and the fifth trumpet judgment, where the abyss is opened and a wave of demonic darkness covers the world. Drawing from Genesis 6, 2 Peter, Jude, and the Catechism, Steve shows how fallen angels, ancient deception, and apocalyptic imagery reveal a return of spiritual darkness before Christ's final triumph. Today, we're diving into a powerful question: Why should we study the book of Revelation?Let's be honest, Revelation can feel intimidating. With its vivid imagery, mysterious symbols, and prophetic language, it's one of the most misunderstood books in the Bible. But here's the truth: Revelation isn't meant to confuse it is meant to reveal. In fact, it's the only book in the Bible that begins with a promise of blessing to those who read, hear, and keep what is written in it.Revelation gives us a clear picture of Jesus not just as the Lamb who was slain, but as the victorious King who is coming again. It reminds us that history isn't random. It's moving toward a God-ordained conclusion where justice is served, evil is defeated, and God dwells with His people forever.Revelation calls us to live with urgency, faithfulness, and hope. It helps us see beyond today's chaos and into God's ultimate plan. Studying it keeps our eyes on eternity and our hearts anchored in Christ.Welcome to our Reveal podcast,To support this ministry and help us continue our God-given mission, click here:Subscribe to our channel for the latest sermons:https://www.youtube.com/@revealvineyardLearn more about Vineyard Church Reveal Campus:https://www.revealvineyard.com/Follow us on social media!Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/vineyardrevealcampus Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/RevealVineyard
Steve Wood unpacks Revelation 8:6–12 and the first trumpet judgments, where one-third of the earth, sea, and sky are struck. Are these merely symbolic, or real consequences tied to humanity's sin? Drawing on Genesis, Isaiah, Romans, and Jesus' own words, Steve reveals the deep connection between morality and the natural world—and the hope creation has in Christ.
