A rare opportunity to join British painter and author, Darren Coffield, as he takes you on a hair-raising romp through the underbelly of London's post-war art scene. Coffield's critically-acclaimed book, Tales from the Colony Room: Soho's Lost Bohemia, draws on the oral history of bohemian London who gathered at the Colony Room Club; home to the greatest post-war figurative painters of the 20th century, including Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, Frank Auerbach, and the Young British Artists (YBAs), among many others. Artists Michael Clark, Darren Coffield, and Michael Woods join forces to recount hilarious and shocking tales of the infamous club and its artistic community, as well as its significant legacy in London's cultural landscape today. https://www.dellasposa.com/events/ralph-heimans-marks-club-2019/ Director of Dellasposa Gallery, Jessica McBride, hosted a special evening with internationally renowned portrait painter Ralph Heimans in conversation with art historian Louise Stewart, Cross-Collections Curator of the National Portrait Gallery, London. Ralph Heimans large-scale portraits are recognised for their innovative compositions that offer engaging narratives about his subjects and their life stories. The panel discussion was held at Dellasposa Gallery, July 2019, to discuss the work of Tahnee Lonsdale, whose new paintings are introduced in Tender Loin, an exhibition that foregrounds the artist's approach to painting gender narratives and the often tender and raw power of personal relationships. Organised by Dellasposa Gallery, this exhibition charts the development of Lonsdale's newest direction of semi abstract painting and her vibrant portrayal of contemporary figuration. Responding to current discussions on feminism while basing her practice on a close examination of relational complexity, Lonsdale creates a unique oeuvre including some of the most powerful paintings of today. In this event, Lonsdale was joined by guest speakers Bianca Chu, deputy director of S|2 gallery, London, and Kiki Mazzucchelli, an independent curator, editor and writer, working between London and São Paulo. The event focused on key themes and works in the exhibition, looking at the dynamics between Lonsdale's paintings and her sources as well as situating her within the wider context of modernist women artists.
