"I've always loved DJ Times & appreciated both cover stories I've done with you guys. It was a pleasure to raid my storage locker & grab vinyl as this was the second time in 15 years I've played it. There's lots of people bumping into the booth & you really feel like you're in the party the way it was recorded. Playing these records reminded me how much simpler House Music was in the 90's & how pure these tracks come across 20+ years later. There's a lot to be learned from the music of the past to influence the future forward music of tomorrow. House Music will never go away & now that we've past 35 years of it, there are certified classics that stand beside any other genre's best. I chose to play a bit more Underground in this set through my Chicago lens & hope it brought some folks back & turned a slew of kids on to some sounds they've never heard before. The only “rule” for the evening’s two DJs? Play no music prior to 1988, the year that saw the magazine’s debut issue. Of course, Phil had plenty of great music from which to choose, including Daisy Age hip-hop, British Acid House, American rave classics, New York- and Chicago-style house, French filter disco, Detroit techno and plenty more.
