Play Episode Listen Later Jun 28, 2013 80:44

Been awhile since I posted a podcast on here. so thought it was time to bring you Revival,, a nite in partnership with Kiki which was at the Beduin Bar, Farringdon. The concept - House music is ever evolving, but every now and again there is a time when house music is 'house music' and it leaves an imprint that is so funky, progressive, with a lil' smother of tech, vocal, disco beats. The sound of yesterday, the sound of today, it's time for Revival. First it was Yvette Lindquist mixing it up Kiki style and now here's Norbert M, mixing it up ol' skool with his lil' taster of what's to come. A rich blend of tracks from yesterday and today. Expect more on the nite from Peter Tguntke & Thomas Wonderland to keep you dancing. Hope you enjoy and look forward to seeing you on the dancefloor!! Djs Yvette Lindquist, Thomas Wonderland, Peter Tuguntke and guest Norbert M mixed the house flava on the nite. Hey hey peeps! Except for mother nature playing havoc with the weather here in London, it has been a real good start to '13' with the two club nites in February and March @ the Apothecary. A massive thank you to all you guys who were involved who made it happen. You know who you are ;-) So now what's next? Decided to concentrate on the DJSWORK website/search engine and get the house music out there this summer. Who better to start it off with the house flava than with the sound of this Dj. Chi 'Matinales' N (House music lover) DJSWORK (London) ON THE DECKS WITH NORBERT MIKLINSKI: 1. So how and when did you start djing? It’s been a long way and actually it didn’t start with djing in mind, but with sharing my love to dance music and playing my tapes & cds at home parties. At that time in Poland (where I come from) dance/house music was underestimated, rock, metal and polish rock was a main stream and it was a quite a challenge to bring new genre to people. At the end it was appreciated! Later on, my music fascination naturally evolved into the desire to dj. I decided to move to London and give it a try. I taught myself and thanks to Dj Alessandro Londra I had my first night at Rupert Street bar:-) 2. What style of house would you say you play if you can? Friend of mine called it diverse & eclectic, I would say it’s funky/disco/tech-house, literally aimed at a mixture of audiences & tastes. 3.Who were/are your influences when it comes to house music? I can easily say late 80’s and early 90’s music is in my roots and not just pure dance, house or disco but pop and rock as well. Listening to my podcast you can find Queen, Kate Bush or Bon Jovi sampled among others. Besides, I grew up on Bristol sounds like Portishead, Tricky, Massive Attack but possibly the biggest influence made was Faithless, Kosheen and Prodigy. I can’t forget about Air, Daft Punk, Royksopp or Chemical Brothers. My godfather of house is Fatboy Slim followed by Tom Novy and Jam & Spoon. Nowadays Chris Lake is huge and on London scene Hoxton Whores and Sharp Boys! 4. Has it always been house music for you? Yes it has. I caught the bug probably form the first time I heard Black Box “Ride on Time” and Technotronic “Pump Up the Jam”. My all time classics! 5. Do you produce tracks and if not when are you going to Not yet but I plan to learn Ableton. I’ve course on my mind. 6. Where do you/have you played? So far I played in Fire (A:M, Gravity), Area (Onyx), Shadow Lounge/Lo-Profile (Gigolo) and Heaven, Ku Bar and MoS taking part in DJ competitions. 7. Ultimate Dj you would like to do a b2b with? Did I mention Hoxton Whores? I love their sound! 8. So your best gig to date? Probably my first international gig. Last year I played in Amsterdam at FunHouse - Animal Farm, little “sister” of infamous Rapido! I played a 4 hour set on the main floor facing more than 1,000 clubbers! It was an absolutely insane, unbelievable experience, almost unreal! 9. From a dj's standpoint, your ultimate venue? Ministry of Sound of course! I had a chance to play in their Loft during Movida Corona competition. I’d love to play in The Box or even more The 103. That would be absolutely massive! 10. Where do you see your music progressing in '13''. Probably it will progress more into tougher tech-house but still influenced by disco and 80/90 sound. That’s what I like! Catch your healthy dose of non stop house music podcasts on https://www.facebook.com/groups/djswork and the sister page https://www.facebook.com/pages/DJSWORK/169643933054634. Luv the house, luv the Dj, luv DJSWORK!! Chi 'Matinales' N (Founder) DJSWORK (London) DJSWORK welcomes Rodrigo Moranto. ON THE DECKS WITH RODRIGO MORANTO 1. So how and when did you start djiing and where did the aka Rio C come from;-) I started dj ing at age of sixteen got involved with a friend who was already playing with turntables which got me into it. My first releases were under the name Rio C, later on created an alter ego - Rodrigo Moranto but having had good feedback on my Rio C tracks I decided to keep both running. 2. What style of house would you say you play? I have a huge wide interest in variations of music in house music, I like to play deephouse techhouse, techno always with a certain groove in it. 3. Who are/were your influences? My influences are from the early days are Tyree Cooper and Dj Fast Eddie. I liked their sound because the quality of key ingredients in their tracks, and although I didn’t realise it at that time being 13 years old. Piano, vocal and acid house was also a big influence on me back then. 4. So you have been in the house music industry for quite a while. How has this evolved when looking at it from a dj/producer perspective? It envloved maybe like many producers, I was always messing around djing, making music when it stepped up a gear when I first did a live act at friends party with an low cost sampler and a drummachine. I knew then I wanted to make tracks because the feeling of people dancing on your music was great to see . 5. You have produced a lot of tracks to include one of my favs, 9 Bazz which was used as the cover track for trade 21st birthday. So which do you prefer being on the decks or being in the studio? Haha, that 's a hard question, I like both actually I get different kind of feelings in the studio as when you're playing in the studio your more focused when I am playing I am in a different more of a party mood. 6 More recently with Nick Tcherniak, ”In my zone”, how did you become involved in that? That was because Nick had a mix album released with my track 9 Bazz and send me a simple message that he like the track very much he always played it so from there we moved on and start making tracks. 7. Where do you play in the Netherlands? I guest at several clubs festivals name and REAL house partys, if you know what I mean! 8. So who if anyone right now would you love to dj with back to back with your sound? I think that will be Nick Tcherniak because we produce together and that’s going great but we never played together so I think that will be a great thing to do sometime. 9. Your ultimate venue...where would you like to play, if you already haven't done it? There is a thing I like to do playing on Ibiza in Space, that will be ultimate :) 10. So more to come from you in 2013? Yes I very busy now with Nick Tcherniak we have already finished a track and I have 1 track now on the podcast that I finished recently it’s the last song of the podcast and I have some projest to finish so whilst I still love music- I keep going ;-) Catch more of Rodrigo Moranto on: https://www.facebook.com/deepdriver https://twitter.com/Rio__C https://soundcloud.com/ricomonart http://www.beatport.com/artist/rio-c/160717 http://www.beatport.com/artist/dj-rio-c/173508 Bookings on ricomonart@hotmail.com
