JUICY, Puerto Vallarta Sunrise Set | Dec. 30th 2k24 | GUAPO PV

I rarely get a chance to stretch my after-hours musical muscles. I've probably played about 10 GUAPO PV events in Puerto Vallarta over the past 5 years but haven't yet posted one of my sets from here in Mexico. This one, however, felt special. (full disclosure: last year's NYE set didn't record due to a technical glitch)… but this set is me at my best… I am very proud of it. I put a lot of thought into all of my sets, especially for the JUICY and DEEP parties I've played in PV the last two years and I'm so excited to share this 3 hr+ one with the world. It's mostly a tech house set and the energy I got from the crowd all night was unparalleled. I saw so many wonderful friends out there all night as I looked around. If there was a main theme for the night's journey, it was my trademark sound of going “a little bit old school”... l always love sharing classics with the younger generation. You'll hear tracks (some, the originals… others, updates) like David Bowie's “Let's Dance” and Danny Tenaglia's “Elements” (both in my Intro), Honey Dijon's update of Kevin Aviance's “Cunty,” Technotronic's “Pump Up The Jam,” Alesso's new update on “Owner Of A Lonely Heart” by Yes, Size 9's “I Am Ready,” my PV update that I've played the past few years of Sweet Pussy Pauline's “Work This Pussy,” Butch's “No Worries,” Submission's “Women Beat Their Men,” Basement Jaxx's “Fly Life,” two versions mixed together of Shakedown's “At Night,” Peter Rauhofer's classic “Miracle” Mix” of Mariah's “We Belong Together,” (a remix I only save for very special occasions) - samples of Aretha, Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, Alanis Morissette, Natasha Bedingfield, Vicki Sue Robinson, Kiss - and two songs from The Beatles (I'll let “which two” be a surprise as you listen). There are more classics sprinkled throughout, as well as 5 or 6 of my own remixes or private edits.Another theme on this journey was “loneliness” - a feeling I battled hard in 2024, as so many of us have - and that many DJ friends of mine struggle with. This set is a reminder that music can always be there to carry us through and that none of us is truly ever alone. As the sun was rising from 7:30-8am, I switched gears to deliver a little magic for everyone who stayed ‘til the end. I ended my set (well, the 2nd to last song) with a new little edit I whipped up over the past two weeks of “Defying Gravity.” (which I'm still tinkering around with)... and the crowd reaction truly was everything I'd hoped for in that morning moment. Thank you to the entire GUAPO PV team for having me back again. Thank you to DJ Autogyro for starting the night with an amazing opening set. I hope everyone has a chance to enjoy this set for years to come. Please share it on social or leave a Comment if you do. I took the second half of 2024 off from DJing, (due to other life commitments) But I'm coming back strong in 2025. I'm now working with Javier Simons at Koq Agency for bookings. https://koqagency.com/ … and here's where you can hear me in the coming months!Jan 17th/18th - Aspen Gay Ski Week (Limelight apres skis)Jan 19th - The Chapel at the Abbey, West HollywoodFeb 1st - The Cuff Complex, SeattleFeb 15th - Afterglow, X Bar, Denver March 13th - Elevation gay ski week, Mammoth

Milli Vanilli are back in the charts for the first time in over 30 years, and you gotta blame it on something. In less murderous brother news - Paulo reveals the names of the little dinosaurs from Bubble Bobble which prompts us to try to name their girlfriends with sub-par results. What were the Seinfeld cast up to in the 80s just before they became mega-stars, and Paulo thought Cheetara was the only scantily-clad, cat-like humanoid he had eyes for...until he watched Rock and Rule. To wrap up we wonder how Tiffany is going to imagine her 80s hits and realise that a cult may have inspired Footloose. So get ready for some LOUD Kickdrums!!   Ive also included some of my new productions so please be sure to check them out! But please!! Whilst listening take time to read our interview with LeeDee E to see what got her started on her journey. Welcome to Geecast LeeDee E!! Hows things? Are you ready to tear us a new one with your mix?! Hi im really well thankyou. Hope your well too    Can you tell us a little bit about yourself. SL (MSN style!) Im missing the A (from ASL)  as readers know you should never ask a lady her age! Im from hull  I've been a raver since 1994 (yes im old ) but im still young at heart. I run my own business its a food trailer called humberscran.    Can you tell us about your first exposure to the rave scene.  Was it through friends, family etc When  my elder brother left home. I was 15 years old. he left a cassette tape in his bedroom and I played it to see what it was. It said fantazia on it. I could not stop listening to this tape. I used to take it everywhere with me and make my friends play it in their house or in their car . Then 1 day a friend who was a little older said to me do u want to come to a rave. I said yeah straight away, not even worried about being underage. I just wanted to go so much. So my friend took me and some others to my very first rave.    Can you remember your first event that you attended? The first rave i ever went to was pleasuredome at fantasy Island Skegness    At some point you then decided Djing was of interest.  Can you talk us through how you became interested in this side of things? I used to go round to a friends house and watch them mix. I would watch them and see how good it made them feel when they was mixing. I thought I'd like to learn how to mix and get that feeling too. I told them I was gonna be a dj and they laughed. They said I'd never be a dj.  So the challenge was accepted. I bought some turntables  and some vinyl in November 2011 and I practiced.   A little every day then 6 months later I got my first booking.   Can you remember the first record you bought? And do you still have it? The first 12inch record i bought was pump up the jam by Technotronic. I think its still at my parents.   I guess you then decided to take things up a notch and wanted to play out at parties.  Can you remember your first gig? Can you talk us through it? (were, when, line up.. tracks played etc.) My first gig was at a night in Selby called homegrown. I was soooo nervous I felt sick. I nearly turned around half way there as I felt that nervous. My friends reassured me that it would ok. I was on first set of the night. I walked in and went behind the decks and took out my first record. My hands was shaking so when I put the needle on it didn't go down lightly at all my body didn't stop shaking all the way through my set. The ravers was loving it. They wasn't many female djs in the Yorkshire rave scene, so I think people buzzed of the fact I was a female dj that played vinyl.    Who were your influences when you first started out Djing?   dj T.D.K  he played hardstyle and every tune he played was a banger  Also dj vorny (r.i p) the was he mixed  i absolutely loved.      Is there a record that you ALWAYS have in the BAG (USB Stick?) that always does the business?   There are so many that I could chose but if I had to pick one id say shizzle my dizzle my dj duro and the prophet always goes down well and gets everyone stomping    Do you still play the same style as back then? How has your sound evolved over time? I still play Dutch and Italian hardstyle as its my passion and what I love. I've thought about venturing off to harder styles like gabber and raw style but never got round to it. Im loving this new hard techno though so that is definitely a genre I will be mixing very soon    Things have changed loads since most of us started out.  Whats been the 1 bad thing & 1 good thing thats happened in recent years to the scene? The scene changes all the time. Id say the only bad things is there are too many events on these days which u think wouldn't be  a bad thing but it actually is as people can't afford to attend them all so you end up having to miss out on some. Only other moan is events charging loads for a can or larger /cider £7.50 it was at one event, for not even a pint . That's just wrong. The good thing is the Internet. Makes it a lot easier to find out where and when events are.   Phones at raves.... yes or no?! People moan about phones quite a lot. Im not bothered either way. If we had camera phones in the 90s we probably would of used them. Mine phone doesn't come out muxh as I'm usually having that much of a good time I forget to get my phone out     Whats been your favourite event to play at upto now? Uprising Halloween 2022 I got to play on the main stage. This for my was a massive booking as if raved at uprising since the early 90s    CDJs VS Digital Vs Vinyl....... which do you prefer? Mixing on vinyl is my preference but most clubs only have CDJs or contrillers so I mainly mix digitally now.   What equipment do you use at home? I have a pair of pioneer cdjs and a pioneer 600 mixer and a pair of technics mrk 5 gs turntables.   Whats the scene like in your local area? Any good events we should be aware of? Hull as had a few local nights over the years. At the moment we have, humbervibe, eutopia, stompin and the experiance.  these are all multi genre events We have a techno  event  called pure techno and on the 5th of July we have a new night  called techno noise. This is at piper club on Newland avenue.    Have you started to produce you own tracks recently or have plans to?  Can you promote any to us? Unfortunately I dont produce my own music. I really haven't got the time to get into that. Ill leave that to the professionals    Which brings us to now! can you talk us through your mix please? This mix is a mixture of Italian and Dutch hardstyle. I've tried to play a variety of different hardstyle for the listeners    Thank you so much for your mix and interview LeeDee E!!   Have you got any shouts out that you would like to give!! Shout out to my  best friends that always support me liam Dixon, Danny Nolan My dynamix crew  My uprising crew  The Yorkshire raving crew  My grimsby crew chelsie, becky, Amanda, Mel  My little sister zoey  Cheers!! While Elon Musk's brain interface, Neuralink has garnered much attention recently, a U.S. official with knowledge of new potential cases of so-called Havana Syndrome said a steady drumbeat of cables has been coming in from overseas posts reporting new incidents — often multiple times each week. Havanna Syndrome or anomalous health incidents are the telltale proof of long-distance torture, by use of microwaves that can give the victim a concussion or "white brain." Conversely, we are seeing exponential advances in the neural prototype synchron which is an advanced interface system that establishes a direct and symbiotic connection between the brain and Artificial Intelligence. There's a delicate balance between improvement and loss, between gaining new abilities and losing our intrinsic nature. Tonight on Ground Zero (7-10pm, pacific time), Clyde Lewis talks with the host of the Curious Realm podcast, Christopher Jordan about TECHNOTRONIC GRAVY BRAIN. Dear Midnighters,As dawn breaks this Wednesday, I'm excited to share Episode #092 of The Midnight Project. This week's journey through sound is not just another episode; it's a testament to the transformative power of techno, featuring tracks that each tell a story, evoke an emotion, and transport us to another dimension.Diving into the heart of this episode, let's highlight a unique bootleg that stands out for its ingenuity and connection to the roots of electronic music: "Pump Up The Jam." This track is a masterful reinterpretation of Technotronic's iconic anthem by the legendary UMEK. UMEK bridges generations of dance music by infusing the classic with a fresh techno twist, offering us a version as compelling on today's dance floors as the original was in the late '80s. It's a reminder of the enduring power of a great track and the creativity that thrives within the techno scene. In addition to UMEK's stellar contribution, we explored "Rotten 2.0" by Oliver Huntemann, a journey through dark, driving beats, and "Power Of The Sultan" by Joaquín Dassie, a unique blend of traditional sounds and modern techno. I will not forget to mention a piece from my heart, "Madrid" – a track that captures the essence of vibrant nightlife and emotional depth, released on Redesign Records. This episode is a vibrant showcase of the talent and diversity within the techno community. From the depths of Huntemann's complex textures to Dassie's cultural fusion and the innovative bridge between past and present by UMEK, each track is a chapter in the larger story of techno.I encourage you to immerse yourself in the experience, let the music guide your week, and remember to explore each track further on 1001 Tracklists. Don't forget to subscribe to The Midnight Project to stay on this journey with us, week after week.Until we meet again in sound, let the rhythm be your guide.Warmest regards,Sebastiaan Hooft

TRUE HOUSE STORIES® W/ ROBERT CLIVILLES (C&C MUSIC FACTORY) # 120 INTERVIEWED BY LENNY FONTANA Robert Clivillés was a resident DJ in club Better Days in the late 1980s. David Cole was the resident keyboardist there and the two became firm friends. In the late 1980s, Clivillés and Cole were active in the groups 2 Puerto Ricans, a Blackman, and a Dominican and the 28th Street Crew. At the time, they were the driving force of the short-lived Brat Pack. The duo was also responsible for the formation of pop group Seduction, for whom they wrote and produced a string of top-10 hits. They contributed to the career of former Weather Girls vocalist Martha Wash, who at the same time was one of the lead vocalists for the dance act Black Box. In 1990, Clivillés and Cole released a single featuring later C+C Music Factory rapper Freedom Williams, called "Get Dumb! (Free Your Body)", as The Crew. The duo's biggest success, however, was the group C+C Music Factory, which became a worldwide sensation in 1991. After the death of his partner David Cole in 1995, Robert Clivillés continued to keep the C+C legacy alive through his own production work. In 1995, he released a solo single under the name C+C Music Factory, called "I'll Always Be Around" (#1 Billboard Dance/Club Play), on MCA Records. This was the final #1 Dance/Club Play hit for C+C Music Factory. An album titled C+C Music Factory was released by MCA in 1995 in Europe, but didn't come out in the US. This was the final studio album of new material to be released under the C+C Music Factory name. The same year, Columbia/SME Records released Ultimate, a greatest hits collection featuring a compilation of remixes and album versions of C+C Music Factory's Sony Music Entertainment singles. Two singles were released in conjunction with the album: "I Found Love" (#13 Dance/Club Play), and "Robi Rob's Boriqua Anthem" (#29 Dance/Club Play), which featured Spanish-language reggae artist El General. In October 1996, Clivillés released an album of new material under the name Robi-Rob's Clubworld. The first single from the project, "Shake That Body", featured emcee Ya Kid K, formerly of Technotronic. The second single, "Reach", was a collaboration with Hex Hector, and featured vocals from longtime C+C vocalist Deborah Cooper. This was the final recording to include piano tracks recorded by the late David Cole. In the 2000s, Clivillés worked with the group MVP, releasing two studio albums with the group. In 2010, C+C Music Factory reformed, with Eric Kupper stepping in to replace Cole. In May 2015, Clivillés made his debut on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart with the song "Set Me Free", featuring vocals by Kimberly Davis of the band Chic. The music video for "Set Me Free" makes reference to Clivillés' father's suicide. In June 2021, Clivillés produced and released the song "Yo Soy Latino (Vamos a Bailar)" by Latinos Del Mundo

Have you ever wondered if it's possible to live a good life - not perfect or without trails, but good and without regrets? I did - and I eventually I realised that if I didn't take action, nobody would do it for me. I had to take responsibility to fix my issues, change my habits, my thoughts, my everything if I wanted to reach my goals. One thing I had to learn was to stop licking my wounds, stop living in the past. I used life-long learning and hypnosis to work on many layers of my personality so I could emerge as the real me - the one I was born to be: the artist, the mind architect, the piano lover, the eclectic learner, the optimistic life-loving mite that you might spot eating black sugar free chocolate and dance at the music of Technotronic (not at the same time!) In the process I found out that fear was stopping me from change. I was not investing in myself and I was waiting for some kind of saviour who would do all the hard work for me. I had to work on my fear of failure, of rejection, of pain to be able to burst out of my chrysalis and extend my wings. Hypnosis helped me to conquer my fears, try new things and create the life I want. No, I haven't become a famous singer, or a millionaire nor have I become younger. That's not what inner work is about. It's more about enjoying every day, being grateful, and changing small things to change the big things in my life. If you are wondering what's next in your life and you are curious about hypnosis, my new podcast episode is for you. It will give you ideas of what hypnosis and inner work can achieve when you and I work together. No, I don't do the work for you but with you. It's different. As you listen you will see how many others have found creativity, solutions, focus, improved performance, and broke habits of over eating, smoking, negative thinking etc. You might be surprised that many well-known people from Churchill to Einstein, To Mel B and Adele have benefited from hypnosis. And you can be the next. What are you waiting for? More time travel before we snap back up to date with next month;s best of 2022 episode, This month we're in 1989 (the year, not the Taylor Swift album) where we're crashing the Exxon Valdez into the Berlin Wall (or something like that, I don't know, I was only 7...) We've each chosen our 10 favourite songs of the year and sent them over to Colin's wife Helen, who put the playlists together and distributed them so we were each given a playlist of the 20 songs from the other two hosts, along with our own 10. We then ranked the playlists in order of preference and sent them back to Helen, who totalled up the points and worked out the order. She also joined us on the episode to read out the countdown, which we found out as we recorded so all reactions are genuine. Now, admittedly, in parts we're a little bit brutal to some of the songs in the list as we're three separate people with differing music tastes, but please remember that to be in this episode at all the songs have to have been in one of our top 10's of that year. Bands featured in this episode include (In alphabetical order, no spoilers here!) - The Cult, The Cure, The Darling Buds, Del Amitri, Electronic, Extreme, Faith No More, The Field Mice, Don Henley, Kitchens Of Distinction, Loop, Biz Markie, Ministry, Mother Love Bone, Bob Mould, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, The Pastels, Pixies, Pop Will Eat Itself, Public Enemy, Ramones, Senseless Things, Sepultura, Skid Row, Skinny Puppy, The Sundays, Spaceman 3, Technotronic, & Transvision VampFind all songs in alphabetical order here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4uuaF2z2giwA5OBbH7LxbT?si=ffd7a22f3065434cFind our We Dig Music Pollwinners Party playlist (featuring all of the winning songs up until now) here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/45zfDHo8zm6VqrvoEQSt3z?si=Ivt0oMj6SmitimvumYfFrQ If you want to listen to megalength playlists of all the songs we've individually picked since we started doing best of the year episodes, you can listen to Colin's here – https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5x3Vy5Jry2IxG9JNOtabRT?si=HhcVKRCtRhWCK1KucyrDdg Ian's here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2H0hnxe6WX50QNQdlfRH5T?si=XmEjnRqISNqDwi30p1uLqA and Tracey's here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2p3K0n8dKhjHb2nKBSYnKi?si=7a-cyDvSSuugdV1m5md9Nw The playlist of 20 songs from the other two hosts was scored as usual, our favourite song got 20 points, counting down incrementally to our least favourite which got 1 point.
