Welcome back to Cannabis School! Today, Brandon and Jesse review Novarine by Find Cannabis, a sativa-dominant flower available in Utah's medical cannabis market.Novarine crosses Caprichosa Thai with a THCV-rich Thai landrace, giving it old-school genetics and an experience far removed from the sweet dessert strains filling dispensary shelves. The aroma is one of the strangest we've encountered. Think funky feet, Indian spices, flowers, earth, and a little sweetness hiding underneath everything else. The vapor starts sharp and floral, while the buds have orange pistils, visible trichomes, and a clean—but fairly dry—appearance. The Find Cannabis batch reviewed in this episode was labeled at approximately 26.76% THC and included several minor cannabinoids. That higher potency is another reminder to read the package in front of you: cannabinoid levels can vary considerably between growers and batches, even when the strain name stays the same.Novarine comes on fast. At first, we experienced a bright headspace, increased alertness, restless energy, and pressure around the temples, jaw, and neck. It stopped just short of feeling anxious and never caused a noticeably racing heart. As the session continued, that physical tension faded and the experience became calmer, slower, and surprisingly relaxing. Is Novarine good for daytime use? It could be—especially for experienced consumers who want energetic effects for chores, movement, exercise, or another physical activity. We were less convinced about using it for complicated mental work because the early restlessness needed somewhere to go.At roughly $44 for an eighth, Novarine was not a bargain, but it was not outrageous for Utah either. The dry flower and uncomfortable opening kept it from becoming an everyday favorite, but its funky profile and dramatic shift from energy to relaxation made it memorable.Would we hunt it down every time? Probably not.Would we be mad if it randomly landed in the stash again? Not at all.In this episode:• Novarine's Caprichosa Thai and Thai landrace genetics• THC, THCV, minor cannabinoids, and batch variation• Funky, spicy, floral, and earthy aromas• Vaporizing Novarine versus smoking it• Its fast sativa onset and calmer finish• Temple pressure, jaw tension, and restless energy• Terpenes, flower quality, dryness, and trimming• Old-school genetics versus modern dessert strains• Whether Novarine is worth buying in Utah• Def Leppard, Corvettes, and the usual Cannabis School detours Chapters:00:00 Welcome to Cannabis School00:31 Find Cannabis Novarine01:14 Genetics and sativa dominance02:04 THC and minor cannabinoids03:37 Terpene profile04:08 First effects05:29 Daytime use05:55 Flower quality08:16 Focus and restlessness12:22 Effects begin changing14:47 The calmer finish15:09 Price and value16:24 Final verdict Have you tried Novarine by Find Cannabis? Ode (@thatsod.e / @thatsod_e) and Mo AKA Kid Licorish (@licorishislegit) welcome DJ Sir Daniel and Jay Ray of Queue Points podcast for a bonus crossover centered on Netflix's The Greatest Night in Pop. The conversation traces the recording of We Are the World, covering the roles played by Harry Belafonte, Ken Kragen, Lionel Richie, Michael Jackson, and Quincy Jones in assembling the session, along with standout moments involving Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan, Diana Ross, Cyndi Lauper, and Al Jarreau. The group also discusses points of frustration with the documentary, including Prince's absence, the treatment of Sheila E., and Patti LaBelle missing the recording the year before her own breakout. Before the review, DJ Sir Daniel and Jay Ray walk through the origins of Queue Points tracing the show's start back to the Salt-N-Pepa Lifetime biopic and the public dispute involving Spinderella. A Time Capsule segment rounds out the front half, with selections including Valentino's 1975 recording of I Was Born This Way, Earth Wind and Fire, A Tribe Called Quest's Stressed Out, and the full catalog of Destiny's Child. The back half of the episode moves into a hypothetical modern version of the recording, with the group debating a 2026 lineup that includes Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, SZA, The Weeknd, and Questlove. Big Mad turns to the impact of the Canadian wildfires on air quality, commentary on Dame Dash carried over from a previous live show, and frustration with anime fans who argue that shows like One Piece, Dragon Ball Z, and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood contain no political themes. Small Joys closes things out with DJ Sir Daniel's vinyl copy of Black Milk's Ceremonial, upcoming DJ sets at Stereo Atlanta and JB's Record Lounge, and Ode's read of Jessica Cage's Accidents Happen series. DJ Sir Daniel and J-Ray close by pointing to QPoints.com for the weekly podcast and Thursday night Queue Points Live sessions.Queue Points is the Black Podcasting Award and Ambie Award-nominated music podcast and media platform that celebrates Black music history and culture through smart, entertaining conversation. Ben Chapman joins Whiskey Riff Raff for an honest conversation about making music, raising a family, and the ever-changing landscape of country music.Ben talks about balancing life as an artist and a parent, why he'd encourage his son to learn a trade, and how Nashville has transformed over the years. He also shares how The Beatles first inspired him to pursue music, the impact Channing Wilson had on his career, and the story behind his latest album—including how he feels about the "funky tonk" label. The conversation eventually turns to country music itself. Ben explains why he thinks Waylon Jennings was the "bro country" artist of his generation, discusses why too many artists today don't know the genre's history, shares his thoughts on today's "phone-in" records, and wonders what the future of great music might look like. It's a conversation about authenticity, songwriting, and staying true to what makes country music great.whiskeyriff.comshop.whiskeyriff.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Jazz-funk brass band EMEFE didn't plan on getting back together after their indefinite hiatus in 2016. Everyone involved with the project at the time, including founding member and drummer Miles Francis, went on to pursue other musical endeavors, until one of their 2015 album tracks, titled “Sun Spat,” began to gain some traction online years later. “We never heard from anybody from Spotify or any of these companies. It truly felt like people listening,” says Francis, highlighting this rare experience at a time when artists fought for attention like never before. After millions of streams, fan covers of the song emerged and EMEFE couldn't ignore the buzz anymore. Shortly after their reunion, they recorded a new album, aptly titled Forward. Now, they're back on the road as a 10-piece band, with Doug Berns on bass, Jake Pinto on keys, Jas Walton on tenor sax, Lynn Ligammari on baritone sax, Jackie Coleman on trumpet, Aani Kisslinger on trombone, Alden Harris-McCoy and Tony Jarvis on guitars, and Javier Ramos on congas and shekere. We managed to fit them all into our studio to bring you their special performance of afrobeat-infused EMEFE songs, old and new, for this edition of Soundcheck. (- Sırma Munyar) Setlist: 1. Stutter 2.
