About half of people are worried they'll lose their job to AI. They're right to be concerned: AI can now complete real-world coding tasks on GitHub, generate photorealistic video, drive a taxi more safely than humans, and do accurate medical diagnosis. And over the next five years, it's set to continue to improve rapidly. Eventually, mass automation and falling wages are a real possibility.But what's less appreciated is that while AI drives down the value of skills it can do, it drives up the value of skills it can't. Wages (on average) will increase before they fall, as automation generates a huge amount of wealth, and the remaining tasks become the bottlenecks to further growth. STORY 3: Fake Romeos used Facebook, Instagram and other platforms in scheme to swindle women Kenneth G. Akpieyi, a Georgia man, was convicted in Louisiana for his role in a $3 million romance scam targeting women online. Using social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram, Akpieyi and others lured victims into fake relationships, later requesting money for fraudulent causes via encrypted apps like WhatsApp. Akpieyi, operating under the alias Phillip Anderson, funneled funds through his company, KGA Autobrokers LLC, to accounts in China and the UAE. Could be in the early stages of a re-weighting into EM Emerging Market (EM) equities have outperformed the S&P 500 so far this year. The weaker US dollar has furnished a number of positives for EM assets, from cheaper funding to less imported inflation to a more attractive carry trade. David Hauner discusses the various positives ahead, including superior economic growth, central bank cutting cycles and the possibility of a lengthy dollar decline. David also discusses EM credit which has seen buying from US investment grade and high yield funds attracted to compelling yields. One of the main risks to this bullish view is a significant deterioration in global trade. In the neotropics, hummingbird flower mites freeload off an existing partnership. This group of mites feeds on nectar and pollen, but only from specific types of flowers. These picky eaters need reliable transport between blooms that may be yards apart. Without wheels — or wings — of their own, these mites catch a ride in the nostrils of a passing hummingbird!
