Join Jen, Vicki and Jesse as they explore the Hallmark movie world and try to make sense of it along the way. Will they ever figure out why the snow is so clean and where even are these towns?
Part two of our three part Royal/Prince series in which we discover just how similar the storylines are. We each took a different film and did a recap and then chatted about the woes of the Prince’s in the Hallmark universe and the ladies that fall in love with them (in like a week). We watched Summer Prince, Once Upon a Prince and Royally Ever After. Will we ever get around to making the map of all the random countries that Hallmark Channel makes up for these royal families? We may also start writing fan fiction at some point…with an Avril Lavigne soundtrack and a cameo from Tony Hawk.
We are back! After a bit of a summer hiatus, mostly due to Vicki’s computer not working any more and it taking her a few months to finally decide she was done fighting with it before she bought a new one. We are back with a three part series on some royal films. We recorded these a while ago, but they are still good for a listen. We are getting ready to bring all the holiday cheer now that the Hallmark Holiday movies are BACK! That said we did have to wait until after Halloween to watch any, we aren’t animals!
Jen and Vicki are left on their own without Jesse as he was out on an epic bike trip. There was a fair bit of rambling since there was no one to keep us in check, at all! Jen and Vicki had a lot of issues with this movie and so many questions and why did she HAVE to move back to Iowa if she didn’t get the promotion?! What is up with the weird side plots that went nowhere?
We are back! I know you all missed us…that is if anyone is listening and/or reading. It is Christmas in July and we are back embracing the Christmas love Hallmark style. Episode 11 and we watched Never Kiss A Man In A Christmas Sweater. We really didn’t understand how he broke his wrist and why exactly he needed immediate surgery and why he couldn’t fly?! There were of course many questions and as usual so few answers to be had in this movie. We did learn about the partnership between Crown Media and the USO and think we may need to dive into that a bit more.
Episode 10 and our hosts all watched different time travel movies and then tried to explain and figure out the different kinds of Hallmark time travel. We went over the Groundhog Day scenario pretty thoroughly as it seems that is a way Hallmark likes to teach it’s protagonists their lessons fairly often. We also really felt that most of the protagonists didn’t need to learn any lessons as they were just normal humans going about their days, but we will let you decide. Basically, time travel is confusing and we don’t understand it (I know you are a shocked) we also aren’t really sure we’d want to do it if we could. From what we have learned from Back to the Future and the Marvel movies it probably isn’t a good idea and we should just stay in our own timeline.
This episode is part of a two part discussion we decided to have on time travel in Hallmark movies. There are a lot of ways that Hallmark does time travel! There is, of course, the classic Christmas Carol scenario where one gets brought back in time by a spirit to see the past, present and future to make changes in their life. The Groundhog Day scenario, where someone gets forced to relive the same day over and over and over and over and over (kind of like that) until they learn something. The last but certainly not least the magic scenario where some magical force moves our protagonist either forward or backward in time to…you guessed it, learn something. We obviously couldn’t watch them all (although one of our hosts seems to have tried) so we watched a few and really got deep with time travel in Hallmark movies and even other classic movies. For Episode 9 we discuss one of the newer holiday films A Nashville Christmas Carol which, as the name would suggest, uses the Christmas Carol scenario.
We are pretty impressed that our co-hosts have made it to episode 8! We tackle A Winter Getaway, which we all really could use these days. Not much really happened in this movie, but we did wonder why exactly would one be so protective of a snowboard? Also, where can we get a friend that sends us on an amazing trip to Banff to stay in a huge suite and just do whatever we want? If anyone is out there feel free to message us!
Episode seven brought us to Valentine’s Day and we watched the movie Playing Cupid. As usual there were some things we took issue with, like why did the school assign projects to kids that made them raise money for the school. Why are there acceptable female workouts like yoga, power walking or running? Our co-hosts also really wanted a burrito after watching this movie and perhaps a margherita.
We made it to episode six! We talk about Taking A Shot At Love as our first film of 2021, which also means we all made it to 2021! The movie stars Luke Macfarlane and Alexa PenaVega as an injured pro-hockey player and a Ballet teacher and former professionally touring ballet dancer (Luke is the hockey player and Alexa is the ballet dancer – I do think switching it around would have been killer though). This movie turned out to be one of our co-hosts favorites and shockingly they all would like to go to a winter festival with an ice bar (someone create a winter festival for these people already). Episode five takes us on another time travel adventure this time we jump forward in time from 1903 to 2020 (and we’re very sorry about that Charles, 2020 pretty much blew). We discuss how many days are supposed to be in December and why two full moons just can’t work and we try to figure out how Charles could live in the present with no identity. Why also does Megan not tell him about his ex-fiance? We also decide we are going to add in the tree topper game to our next holiday party! explicit content
Episode four and we take on our first prince! To say we were excited would be an understatement. We loved Queen Gabriela more than anything and really feel she needs her own Hallmark love story. We also had some questions about the casting and wonder why is there alway a moment where the woman needs to be saved from a ladder or lifted up to somewhere?! explicit content
The first episode of Holly Crap! a mostly holiday Hallmark movie podcast is here. In this episode we watch and discuss Christmas Comes Twice, which spoiler alert, is not a porno. We were a little surprised to be honest, but it is on the Hallmark Channel, i'm not really sure why we were surprised. Warning some explicit language.
Episode three we meet Lina (Rachael Leigh Cook) our intrepid Creative Solutions Specialist and Max a dude that just wants to get back to CO for Christmas. Hijinks ensue as their plane gets diverted to a super small town with no rental cars. Will Lina be able to creatively get them home or will all of her “solutions” just cause more problems.

In episode two we meet Christina an Italian restaurant owner and chef who doesn't seem to even know what challah is. Will she meet a nice Jewish boy and fall in love or will she be forever doomed to her huge house buying way too many Christmas decorations.
