Hider in the House (1989)Directed By: Matthew PatrickStarring: Gary Busey, Mimi Rogers, Michael McKean, Crispin Glover's DadThis is the kickoff of our first Gary Busey themed month (just wait for what we have in store!) and this one is a weird one. With next to no US theatrical release, Gary Busey plays a formerly abused child who needs somewhere to live, and randomly chooses your attic. Hijinks ensue and eventually he wants to live your life and take your wife. It's wild. IMDB describes this as: "A deranged man hides in the attic of a new house and becomes obsessed with the unsuspecting family that moves in."We Also Talked About:Run (1991) (YouTube)Twice Dead (1988) (TubiTv)The Twice Dead CoverRace Across the World (Daily Motion)Chris Demakes A Podcast (Apple Podcasts)NOFX - The Decline (YouTube)Doom Asylum (TubiTv)Chaos the Manson Murders (Netflix)Celtic City (Amazon)Hider in the House PosterLike what you hear here? So much afoot we've got two: there's the Avro Vulcan howl, the Corsair whistle, Hellcat .50s and tanks with cats, and a cool story about two F-14s that scrambled to blow up an egg salad sandwich. Then there's tales of Tesla owners attacking each other when there were no protesters around, Honda and Nissan moving in and out of the US but not each other, and failure after failure of electric car greenthink when the "free" taxpayer bucks dry up now that reality is back in charge (ie: American mail trucks and Canadian busmaker bankruptcy). More? Re-Soviet Russians doing what Russians do (serious wartime innovation) in their ongoing effort to take over their equally corrupt but less offensive neighbor, an anniversary look back at John Glenn hitting the skies for a quick trip around the planet 60 years ago, and Clutch all over.

In part two of our interview with legendary house music producer Junior Sanchez, we talk about the late 1990s until the present day: forming the Wu-Tang of house with artists like Daft Punk and Basement Jaxx, Miami WMC and Ibiza hijinks, the “Planet Rock” tape, the electrohouse era, Junior's remix outlook, working with Madonna and the evolution of club culture over the last two decades, plus what keeps Junior inspired and connected to the underground more than three decades on. Hosted by Vivian Host (aka DJ Star Eyes). For more info and extras, visit Ravetothegrave.org or Instagram @ravetothe.grave.
There's a party over at NOVA, Dr Marner (Austin Pendleton) is showing off the new line of military kill bots, the S.A.I.N.T.s, when a sudden storm shuts it all down. Before they can get the robots to the showroom, #5 is hit by a bolt of lightning and escapes, spurring their creator, Newton Crosby, PhD (Steve Guttenberg) and his partner, Ben (Fisher Stevens) into action to bring it back to the lab. #5 goes out into the world in search of input and meets a very special animal lover, Stephanie (Ally Sheedy). Together they do their best to show that #5 is indeed alive and doesn't deserve to be disassembled. NOTE: This will be the last of these oral-history readings until at least summer. If you have been enjoying them, please reach out and let me know. — This one is writer Sara B. Wrenn's oral history interview with the great-granddaughter of old Sam Barlow — he of the Barlow Road. They discuss a famous avenue of black walnuts, which are probably the progenitor-trees of every black walnut in the state today; and some twin-sisters hijinks that took place on a riverboat, and changed the destiny of an entire pioneer family. On this episode, it's Superman's girl friend (two words): Lois Lane! We talk the origins of everyone's favorite "girl reporter" and kick things off with a 1944 story that sees Lois stepping out on her own sans Superman. Then, we zero in on a 1962 issue of Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane that sees the Daily Planet dynamo be "abandoned" by Superman (and face off against an octopus!) and then discover Superman's secret mermaid family on another planet (yep). We wrap up by discussing Lois on screen, why she doesn't have a more regular solo title and what to expect from Rachel Brosnahan's upcoming portrayal. Ep. 152 What if Lois Lane thought Superman abandoned her & hijinks ensued?from Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #30 (DC Comics)Find us at https://linktr.ee/dearwatchersIt's more silver age silliness! After our recent Jimmy Olsen issue, we are talking about Superman's main squeeze: Lois Lane. We talk her origins from Siegel & Shuster (and Joanne Carter) and then cover an early story from Don Cameron & Ed Dobrotka that sees Lois talk someone off a ledge (literally). We then cover a zany issue of Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane where Lois faces off against gangsters, an opium smuggler and an octopus without the help of Superman (or so she thinks). Plus, lookout for a truly bizarre Krypton cameo! Later in that issue, Lois discovers Superman has a secret mermaid wife and child on another planet but everything might not be what it appears to be in this story from the pencil of iconic Lois Lane artist Kurt Schaffenberger. We wrap up by sharing our love for Margot Kidder, Elizabeth Tulloch, Teri Hatcher and speculate on how Lois will be portrayed in James Gunn's upcoming film.
